The enemy wants to silence the voice
Of those who love God and in Him rejoice.
When he rises up and tries to make trouble,
Our praises to God will rise and be double!
We can "out-talk" him through worship and prayer.
God's power and majesty we will declare.
He is a God of power and might.
No enemy can douse His great light.
God is our fortress... His truth will be known.
He is our refuge... we are not alone.
He is our strength... in Him we rejoice.
To Him we bring glory... we raise up our voice!
"He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty (Whose power no foe can withstand.)"
Psalm 91:1 Amplified Bible
"Little children, you are of God - you belong to Him - and have already) defeated and overcome them (the agents of antichrist), because He Who lives in you is greater (mightier) than he who is in the world."

Jealousy
Jealous folks just are not happy,
And sometimes they become quite "snappy".
They seem to want what is not theirs.
Their attitude sends up big flares.
They never seem to have enough.
Their envy covets others' stuff.
They are really not content.
Until they "win", they will lament.
Sometimes they will run roughshod
O'er others to gain accolade.
If they're to be satisfied
They must set selfishness aside.
This mindset needs some overhaul,
For in God's time He blesses all.
Rejoice with those who have the best!
Be glad for those whom God has blessed!
"You shall not covet your neighbor's house, your neighbor's wife, or his manservant, or his maidservant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor's."
Exodus 20:17 Amplified Bible
"(Share others' joy), rejoicing with those who rejoice; and (share others' grief), weeping with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty (snobbish, high-minded, exclusive), but readily adjust yourself to (people, things) and give yourselves to humble tasks. Never overestimate yourself or be wise in your own conceits."

A Portrait Of God's Love
Rejoice in God's great artistry and lovely handiwork,
His excellence and beauty in array for all to see,
For mountains, plains and shining seas, for waterfalls and streams,
For trees which tower toward the heav'ns and flowers which are wee...
For light He gives us in the day and starshine through the night,
For the very air we breathe and wildflower's fragrant scent,
For dew upon the grass at dawn and wind to cool the heat of day,
For birds who warble, sing and call when day is almost spent.
Creation's endless beauty is a portrait of God's caring,
Reminder of His lovingkindness all throughout the land.
Pause and take a moment to reflect and sing God's praises.
Everything we see is created by His hand.
"O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!"
Psalm 8:9 KJV
"I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works. I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High."

Nuggets Of Gold
We cannot buy wisdom, nor will it be sold.
It's nuggets of gold, which never grow old,
Are learned from experience and reading the Word.
Without it life's issues may sadly get blurred.
Young folks may wonder why old folks are "staid".
The old folks remember mistakes they have made.
They have learned well that wisdom and prayer
Save many a headache and many an error.
When we have wisdom we won't go astray.
Wisdom will guard us and keep us each day.
Wisdom is gold which never grows old...
A standard to cherish, to live by and hold.
"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding."
Proverbs 9:10-11 KJV
"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him."

Holy Spirit, Come
We need a blessing from God's hand
To bring refreshing in our land.
Many lives are caught in "drought",
Suffering from fear and doubt.
Holy Spirit, come and rest
On those who need to be refreshed.
Let Your healing waters flow,
New life and blessing to bestow.
Let Your floodgates open up.
Come and fill this empty cup,
Washing o'er our land today.
"Holy Spirit, come", we pray.
"So too the (Holy) Spirit comes to our aid and bears us up in our weakness; for we do not know what prayer to offer nor how to offer it worthily as we ought, but the Spirit Himself goes to meet our supplication and pleads in our behalf with unspeakable yearnings and groanings too deep for utterance."

God's Faithfulness
God's mercies are new ev'ry morn,
Our lives with His joy to adorn.
Each day is a gift with good news,
His blessings on which we should muse.
No matter the bad news we hear,
The news of our God gives us cheer.
We can rise up and hold our heads high
As we hear His voice and to Him draw nigh.
As we're in worship, the world "fades away",
And we are aware of His goodness each day.
He is our focus and joy and delight.
Because of His faithfulness, our days are bright.
"It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is thy faithfulness."

Hands Of Healing
Anyone who ever knew my mom would probably say that she was a very giving person. She always had compassion for those who were hurting or had need.
In one of her jobs she had a co-worker named Louise who became ill. Louise could no longer work because she had developed bone cancer. Mom learned that Louise was in the hospital in a lot of pain, so she went to see her. Louise's pain was such that she couldn't stand even the weight of a sheet over her body.
I do not know what Mom shared with her, but while she was there she prayed for Louise.
We later learned that Louise only lived another three days after Mom visited her, but she was totally pain-free from the time Mom prayed for her.
Mom had a giving heart and helped many...
"She stretcheth out her hand to the poor: yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy."
Proverbs 31:20 KJV

The Brighter Side
If your life is not exciting
And some problems you are fighting,
Let your eyes be opened wide
And look upon the brighter side.
Thank the Lord for what you have.
Receive His joy as healing salve.
Praise Him for His precious grace
Which "carries" us from place to place.
He will change your present view
And give perspective which is new.
If in Him you will abide
You'll always see the brighter side.
"For the joy of the Lord is your strength."

Good Fruit
Righteousness will yield good fruit
Because it has a healthy root.
All it's growth may not be seen
But over time remains pristine.
It's stance for truth is very strong.
Over-ruling what is wrong.
Making choice for what is good
And making impact... as it should.
It becomes a shining light.
By example it is bright,
Blazing trails through the dark,
Leaving an impressive "mark".
"The root of the righteous yieldeth fruit."
Proverbs 12:12 KJV

Angels Watching Over
When I was five years old my parents bought a farm, and I began to learn about living in the country.
The fences around the perimeter of the property (91 acres) were old and needed to be replaced. Dad bought posts and wire, and then built a large sled to carry the posts to the far edge of the property. We did not have a tractor, so he loaded the posts and wire onto the sled and hitched the sled up to our team of horses. My brother Dale and I went with him and rode on the horses. Since I was so little Dad tucked my legs under the straps of the harness, and I held onto the "hames" at the top of the horse's collar.
The back part of our land had not been cleared... and brush and rocks covered the area, so where we were going was not smooth ground. We started out just fine. Dad stood on the sled and dropped the posts along the old fence line, and it seemed like this plan was going to work well. But we could not have anticipated what was going to happen next. Something startled the horses and they took off running.
My brother was thrown off of his horse and landed on his back in some brush. I wasn't thrown off, but my head was beating up and down on a metal plate between the hames on the horse's collar. My dad was on the sled and was desperately trying to get the team back under control when the sled hit a rock, breaking a hole in it, and dad's leg went down through the hole and was dragging underneath. Even so, he somehow managed to bring the team to a stop.
As I look back at this event, I don't have any doubt that God was watching over the three of us. None of us had even a broken bone. Surely His angels were all around us that day. God was so faithful to watch over us...
"He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble: I will deliver him, and honour him."
Psalm 91:15 KJV

Lingering In His Presence
Always watching, always waiting, always longing for the Lord... my soul longs to hear His voice, to feel His presence and His touch.
His presence is as an oasis where I may come and drink... and find rest... where I can find refreshing and new energy to meet the tasks before me. Lingering with Him brings a pattern and direction to my day. Listening for His voice brings awareness of what is going on around me. Resting in Him is restorative.
I truly desire to know Him, and as I seek Him faithfully a whole new level of understanding opens up. He changes me... and I am blessed. I rejoice deep within.
"As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God..."
Psalm 42:1-2 KJV

A Very Bright Light
When my mother was nearing 101 years of age it became necessary for her to be in nursing home care because she could no longer walk on her own. Her vision had become quite dim, so she didn't converse with others there at the nursing home because she couldn't see clearly enough to know who she was talking to.
At the nursing home she shared a room with a lovely Christian lady named Juanita, who was there recovering from an open-heart surgery. Juanita was 78 years old.
One day, when I visited at the nursing home, Juanita shared with me how my mother had totally transformed her life. Juanita's statement was: "I saw how patient your mom was as the nurses brought her in and out in the wheelchair, and she never complained. My own attitudes were really bad, and watching how she is at her age (in her condition) totally transformed my life."
I don't know if Juanita had expressed her feelings to my mom or not. But what a tribute to the light of Jesus in my mom. The witness of her life had brought healing to another even in those last few days of her very long life.
"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."
Matthew 5:16 KJV

Praise Rising Up
Praise rising up in the depth of my being
O'ershadows the woes which my eyes are seeing.
Praise changes me, and brings me great peace.
My heart is encouraged... in Him is release.
He is my shelter when storms tend to blow.
He makes my heart with joy to o'erflow.
As my perspective is caught up in praise
I can "see" better... He transforms my days.
"Rejoice in the Lord, O you (uncompromisingly) righteous (you upright in right standing with God): for praise is becoming and appropriate for those who are upright (in heart).

Wisdom And Caution
Wisdom would urge us to weigh ev'ry plan
And each of our choices to thoroughly scan.
Excitement and fun times would lure us to come,
But if they're not right, they'll leave us quite "numb".
Decisions made quickly without thought or prayer
Have "price tags" of which we are not aware.
We must be sure of each step we take
Lest we get entangled and make a mistake.
Maybe we feel that we are "left out"
But should not join in if we have some doubt.
Caution is friendly... our lives it will guard...
And shows us the choices which we should discard.
"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."

A Path To The Extraordinary
As the wheels of "dailiness" turn
For variety we oft yearn...
For something bright or new to do
To brighten up our "tired" view.
When routine becomes "a drag"
And energy begins to lag,
Deep inside may be a test
Which really needs to be addressed.
Diligence and patience learned
Are precious prizes to be earned.
That routine of which we're wary
May lead to the exteraordinary.
Be creative... don't complain,
For learning well will bring great gain.
Perseverance has great worth
And to new vistas will give birth.
"But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing."
James 1:4 KJV

A Crystal Goblet
Our lives are like crystal goblets. Over time a goblet may show wear or can become cloudy-looking or scratched from age.
But if the goblet is filled with the waters of Jesus, it begins to change. The scratches and wear and tear which may have appeared there are washed away. The etchings of use or film on the goblet begin to fade. And by continual washing the goblet, which was dull and dingy, becomes clear and polished-looking. The pure waters of Jesus cause it to sparkle and reflect light, and it's waters become refreshing for others. It is transparent and lovely.
Sometimes a goblet may become chipped or broken, but Jesus knows how to place every chip back together. In His gentle hands this goblet, too, will again be lovely. The facets of His love will be etched into the glass in a unique way to heal it's scars and make it beautiful.
He desires that all should be filled with His living waters and be made new.
"But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life."
John 4:14 KJV

A Great Love Story
A rose is perhaps the most loved flower...
It rises forth out of a homely-looking wood stalk. The stalk is sometimes gnarled and may have been "wounded" or broken at some time. There may have been times of drought and seasons of severe cold... and yet each year it bursts forth in glory and presents us with all the beauty and fragrance which can be found anywhere in a flower.
My favorite rose is a rich, velvety red and grows on long, sturdy stems. When it blooms it reminds me of all the majesty and power of our Lord Jesus. The rich velvet of the petals reminds me of His royalty. When I cut a bloom and bring it inside, it's fragrance fills my house. This is precious, because I want Jesus' fragrance to always fill the rooms of my home.
The rose has beautiful leaves, but it also has large thorns, and I am reminded of the thorns Christ wore in my behalf. The rose represents Jesus, but the thorns bring remembrance of the suffering He went through for me... and you...
This is the greatest love story of all time... think on the rose...
"... Whatsoever things are lovely, think on these things."
Philippians 4:8 KJV

Summer's Song
Cooling streams and waterbrooks
With rippling waters sing their song...
Music from the heart of God
Which makes one want to sing along.
Breezes in the willow trees
Whisper lilting melodies...
A lovely touch of summer's ease
As nature sets her heart to please.
Meadows filled with butterflies
And birdsong drifting through the air
Are blessings to remind us all
That summer has a song to share.
Join her laughter, sing her song.
Let her beauty lift your heart.
Let her chorus fill your days
And merrily her joy impart.

Breezes in the willow trees
Whisper lilting melodies...
A lovely touch of summer's ease
As nature sets her heart to please.
Meadows filled with butterflies
And birdsong drifting through the air
Are blessings to remind us all
That summer has a song to share.
Join her laughter, sing her song.
Let her beauty lift your heart.
Let her chorus fill your days
And merrily her joy impart.

Encouragement
When you see a soul weighed dwn,
Walking with a tired step,
A great big smile to show you care
Might add to them some joy or pep.
Encouragement can lift a load
For someone walking all alone.
You might lift a person up
With seeds of happiness you've sown.
You may be the only spot
Of light or sunshine in their day
By your kind example
Or the cheery words you say.
People struggle deep within
And maybe never tell a soul.
To be a bright encourager
Is a very needed role.
"Let all men know and perceive and recognize your unselfishness (your considerateness, your forbearing spirit)."

Discerning The News
When we hear the evening news
The many facts we should peruse.
Prayer Warriors, be alert!
Some issues media will "skirt".
What is bad can't be called good.
Issues must be understood.
Issues which have "haziness"
Confuse and sponsor "craziness".
Prayer Warriors, watch and pray
That truth be known every day.
Of urgent issues be aware.
When we pray, God hears our prayer.
"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."
II Chronicles 7:14 KJV

The Love Of God
God gave us His Son... His great love to show.
Love is the greatest of all things we know.
Christ brought example for how we should love...
He was the "measure" God sent from above.
Love is a lesson... our thinking to change.
With practice, our lives it will rearrange.
That which we thought had value or worth
Becomes as mere dust when love has it's birth.
Love is a gift, by which we are blessed,
Where God's lovingkindness and grace are expressed.
All things are better when love is in place.
Love is God's beauty... which we should embrace.
"Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God."
I John 4:7 KJV

A Beautiful Heart
God will do His handiwork
In the fibers of the heart.
The colors He will weave there
Will become a precious work of art.
His intricate detail
Will be very special and unique.
Of His gentle loving care
His careful artistry will speak.
When we choose to place our hearts
In the hands of our dear Lord,
He responds and gives to us
A rich and glorious reward.
On the beauty which He gives
We cannot ever put a measure.
In His weaving and design
Is rich and unexpected treasure.
"My heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God."

Grandparents' Fun
Grandkids are a special gift.
They give us "oldsters" quite a lift!
Oh, what joy to see them smile
And sit with them a little while.
As they prosper and they grow
They add to us a special glow.
We even get to spoil them some
With special treats they like... yum-yum!
Grandkids fill a special place.
Their little lives we will embrace.
Being "old" is not so bad...
Our grandkids make our hearts feel glad!
"Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord..."

No Fear
It is so important to be able to discern what is happening around us...
One evening I was leading worship in a meeting, and I was aware of a man across the room in the front row who was seeking to be noticed... he had a disruptive spirit. When worship was over and our speaker began to speak, this man was trying to get the speaker's attention and interject his own comments. The speaker did not allow him to interrupt, and he was restless.
I started praying (within myself) to block what he was trying to do. When the speaker was through and called our prayer teams to come forward to pray for those with needs, this man got up and came across the room toward me. He was angrily clawing at the air with his hand and came right toward my face. He was maybe only three feet from me when I motioned with my hand and said to him very quietly, "You're out of order." He stopped in his tracks. He couldn't move another inch toward me. And then he left.
This all happened very fast, but I felt no fear because the Lord had given me the words to say. It was the power of God working which stopped him. My friend was sitting by me and saw what happened. She said she was really scared that he would hurt me.
I learned a very valuable lesson in this. When I was praying silently against the evil in this man I made no visible signs that I was praying. But HE KNEW exactly who was blocking him and showed intense anger toward me. I realized that when my spirit is uncomfortable with the spirit in someone around me, probably the wrong spirit in the other person will not be comfortable around ME.
In this case, the Lord intercepted the situation and disabled the man's efforts to retaliate against me. He guided and protected me, and the evil person had to leave.
"For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say."
Luke 12:12 KJV

Love Thy Neighbor
"Love thy neighbor as thyself"
Just may not be so easy.
I have had some neighbors
Who have made me kinda' "queasy".
Being kind to some of these
Will take some work and study,
For they don't plan for me to be
A close friend or a "buddy".
But there might be a time
When I can show to them good will.
It just may be that in their lives
Much kindness has been nil.
Show me, Lord, how I can be
The ray of light that I should be
And bring a touch of Sonshine
To that one who isn't free.
"And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself."
Luke 10:27 KJV

Reaching Up
If it seems like you've reached bottom
And you're weary from the fight...
If you know the Lord
In Him you'll find new strength and might.
He does not desert us in our times
When life is out of joint.
He is there beside us,
Helping us to find a turning point.
When all we do comes to a halt
And we don't know which way to turn,
He gives us new perspective
And guides us through what we must learn.
If we lean upon the Lord,
To help us reach a "mountain top",
We can start a higher climb...
In Him we will not fail or drop.
Yes, we may be weary,
But He gives us hope and blessed peace.
No matter what the "climb" before us,
Our strength, in Him, will have increase.
"He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with Him in trouble. I will deliver him and honor him."

Very Near
The older I get, the more it is clear,
Our God isn't distant but so very near.
He knows our ways and our heart's desire
And answers our prayers before we inquire.
We're not alone... He's right by our side,
Our uncertain footsteps to steady and guide.
His presence is real... and very unique,
Not just on Sunday, but all through the week.
The more we are bathed in the wealth of His Word
The closer He seems and the more we are stirred.
We are not lacking... we're never alone,
For the gift of His presence He has made known.
"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want."

A Servant's Heart
If only giv'n one job to do
And it doesn't have much worth,
Give to it your very best,
For out of it may come a "birth".
Something deep within yourself,
When nurtured, then would start to grow.
Your diligence in serving
Much faithfulness woud show.
Inward growth prepares us
For a larger task at hand.
A servant needs this steadiness
To meet a new demand.
Learning from "the bottom up"
Will give correct perspective.
Your service and your attitudes
Will be much more effective.
"And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him."

Moccasins
We often will not understand the "fit" of others' moccasins
Unless we really care enough to try to walk a block in them.
The moccasins may be well-worn, and wearing them our feet would bruise.
Probably we'd hurry back and welcome wearing our own shoes.
We cannot point and say we know how rough a path some folks may walk.
We only prove we have blind spots in how we reason and we talk.
Only Jesus knows their pain, and He will help them bear their weight.
But if we think we understand, with judgment we should hesitate.
"Be honest in your judgment and do not decide at a glance - superficially and by appearances; but judge fairly and righteously."

A Good Listener
As a crystal shines and glistens
Is the soul who truly listens,
Hearing what is in your heart,
Though words have lack of where to start.
One who listens tends to care
About those things you wish to share.
By showing kindness and respect
A loving spirit they reflect.
A soul who listens talks not much
But ferrets out the truth and such,
Giving answer carefully
And sharing wisdom prayerfully.
"Let each of you esteem and look upon and be concerned for not (merely) his own interests, but also each for the interests of others."

Order Or Surprises?
Closets were made to put clothes away.
But some are so full that things go astray.
A closet, o'er time, is full of surprises...
So many clothes, of all different sizes...
Or too many shoes... with purses to match,
Which o'erfill the space so the door will not latch.
We maybe don't need as much as we buy
Or to keep everything when our space becomes shy.
When clothes just don't fit, then give them away.
Things which don't match should maybe not stay.
Making a plan is a good step to take,
For planning ahead more order will make.
If when you're done your clothes still don't fit,
You'll need a new closet... or humor and wit!
Think what a load this will take off your mind...
When you have order, you clothes you can find!

A Foolish Fellow
A fool has "foot-in-mouth" disease,
For there his shoe will fit with ease.
Pride will cause him to "spout off",
And precious wisdom he will scoff.
He thnks he knows an awful lot
But only proves what he is not.
He does not try to change or learn,
Nor for knowledge does he yearn.
He's content the way he is.
The way of wisdom is not his.
Pride is really not too "cool",
For it has made of him a fool!

Just Come
Do you know the love of God
And how He gave His Son...
That we might have eternal life,
Each and every one?
Have you answered His sweet call
And sought to know the Lord?
Or maybe thought... "I still have time
To change and 'get on board'."
When you do not turn to Him
This message slips away,
And soon you won't remember it.
Other things will fill your day.
Jesus brings Salvation
Which is key to Heaven's gate.
When He knocks upon your door
Just come... don't hesitate.
"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me."

Spoken For Good
A righteous tongue is full of wealth,
To many others can bring health.
Words with loving expertise
Become as instruments of peace.
Expressions which are filled with joy
May bring "uplifting" as a buoy.
Words we choose with love and care
Can be delightful as "fresh air".
When we think before we speak
And watchfully our words we "tweak",
Our tongues become a tool for good
In blessing others... as we should.

Many Eagles
Our country needs men who are fearless and strong...
Eagles at heart against what is wrong,
Those who will stand with power and might,
Defending the truth through darkness and night.
Eagles have vision, eagles will soar
And move with precision you cannot ignore.
They aren't distracted, nor will they waver
From storms which may threaten... or from disfavor.
May "eagles"rise up and answer God's call,
Carrying banners of freedom for all.
Let there be light, and let truth be known.
Let freedom's victories be bright and full-blown!
"It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect. He maketh my feet like hinds' feet, and setteth me upon my high places. He teacheth my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms."

Freedom's Cause
God has blessed this mighty nation,
Birthed in prayerful foundation
By men who valued freedom's cause.
To these men we owe applause!
Celebrate our heritage
From men who gave us parentage!
By prayer and wisdom they had vision
And through God moved with precision.
We must not waver from this stance
But stay on course and not take chance
From wrong tenets which bombard.
Our freedoms we must always guard!
"Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance."

Time Well Spent
Half the year has come and gone.
So quickly time just slips away!
God gives time to "make impact"
With each new dawn and each new day.
I've been busy, but can't say
If what I've done has been enough.
I want to touch someone each day...
Not just be busy with my "stuff".
At year's end I want to feel
This year has been my very best.
As I focus on the Lord
He'll make my time to be much blessed.
"Every day will I bless thee: and I will praise thy name for ever and ever."

This year has been my very best.
As I focus on the Lord
He'll make my time to be much blessed.
"Every day will I bless thee: and I will praise thy name for ever and ever."

A Place Of Retreat
It's good to have a "resting place",
A place of deep retreat,
Where we escape from busyness
And stillness is replete.
From daily "drain" and wear and tear
It's wise to take a needed break
To ponder and to re-affirm
The next step we should take or make.
Our anchor is our "resting place",
Where we return and find release.
In that place we are renewed.
In prayer God brings us His sweet peace.
"Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings wll I rejoice. My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me."
Psalm 63:7-8 KJV

Finely-Tilled Soil
When setting out to grow a crop
Or plant in soil never turned,
Plowing up the soil is rough.
By hard work are great crops earned.
If the soil is not prepared,
Seeds we plant just may not grow.
Plowing comes before success...
Is something we cannot forego.
From the farmer we learn much
As we watch him till his field.
By his patience and his labor
All his crops will bring good yield.
Equal to the farmer's plow
In daily life will be our prayer.
Prayer loosens up hard ground
And pulls out "weeds" which are a snare.
Prayer is prerequisite
To know just how we should proceed.
If we want our "crops" to grow,
Then prayer "plowing" is a need.
"He that ploweth should plow in hope; and he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope."

A Fresh New Start
If everything we try to do
Does not work out and falls apart,
Maybe we are not on track
And need to make a fresh, new start.
Maybe what we need is change,
And God is doing us a favor.
He will close some doors for us
And open some which we can savor.
He'll set us on a brand new path,
For He knows what is really best.
As we turn and make a change,
By what we feared... we will be blessed.
"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."

A Strong Anchor
If you are hurting deep down in your soul
And life has just seemed to be out of control,
Jesus will be the anchor you need.
He will bring answers... your hopes to exceed.
When life is spinning, He will not fail.
Though you have fear, He will prevail.
His anchor is strong and always will hold.
Through every storm He'll help you be bold.
We are not meant to fight "storms" alone.
He will be there when we face the unknown.
Do not be weary... His anchor is sure.
Your hopes and your dreams in Him are secure.
"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble."

The Greatness Of God
If all the wisdom of the world
Was gathered in one place,
Compared to God's great wisdom
It would fill a tiny space.
Man's perspective needs some help
To realize the size
Of just how big our God is...
And His wisdom recognize.
None could stand before our God
Nor look into His face,
And yet we are the objects
Of His mercy, love and grace.
His wisdom is our covering
To keep us all our days,
To guide us and protect us
From learning "worldly" ways.
By His wisdom through each day
We'll know how to proceed,
Not leaning on our own strength...
Which is really small indeed.
Through His word we can be wise
And move with power and might,
Remembering that He is God...
Our faithful, Guiding Light.
"Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable."

No Longer Nearsighted
Some overused words are "self", "I" and "me".
When they're in the way we simply can't see
The merits in others, 'cause focus is wrong.
We're busy with self and singing "our" song.
How thoughtless it is to put ourselves first.
It's better to let the "me" bubble burst
And reach out with caring to others in need.
When we do this, from "self" we are freed.
No longer short-sighted, perspective is new.
A happier outlook will come into view.
When we bypass "self" and learn to be "giving",
This is the key to happier living.
"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord."

Trusting Him More
Thank You, Lord, for my "well-being".
My mind from worry you are freeing.
I can't foresee my circumstance
Nor plan my pathway in advance.
Each day I will trust in You
Instead of making much ado.
My well-being, in Your hand,
Assures me strength which helps me stand.
The peace you give will overcome
And give to me serene aplomb.
You'll not miss my needs... not one.
In all things, Thy will be done.
"I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth."

Blessed Mortar
A home can be built of bricks or of stone,
But without good mortar it's structure will "groan".
Lack of strong mortar can cause it to fail,
And all of it's walls will tend to be frail.
The mortar of love will bond it together
And seal it's strength against all kinds of weather.
Where peace and good will and unity dwell
The home will have stories of gladness to tell.
Storms cannot touch the beauty within.
Love's mortar is strong and always will win.
Over the years the home's strength will grow.
Out of it's rooms will love overflow.
"Love never fails - never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end."

Changing Seasons
Today I am reflecting on the closing of old seasons... and new beginnings...
When we have found a happy niche, and are comfortable and prospering there, our endeavors will become a wonderful season. Because we enjoy it so much we want to stay there as long as we can to accomplish all that we can.
But sometimes the Lord sees that we need to make change or move on. When we sense that the season we're in is starting to close, we don't want to let it go. The Lord may want to give us a new beginning, and it cannot happen until we "lay down" the present season. The new birthing willl rise up out of remnants which are left.
We may fear being "empty" or not having purpose. But it is in the time without "busyness"... when we quietly rest in Him... that He can re-program us and drop "seeds" of creativity into our lives, setting us on a wonderful, new path.
He would have us rejoice in the old season but move on to the new season... a fresh, new beginning. For as long as our hearts are in tune with Him He will continue to give us new beginnings...
"For You cause my lamp to be lighted and shine;
the Lord my God illumines my darkness."
Psalm 18:28 Amplified Bible

Patterns Of The Mind
What info might be stored
In the corners of the mind?
If all the "doors" were opened
What knowledge would you find...
Archives of experiences
And memories, good or bad...
Or treasured thoughts which you don't share,
Which really make you glad?
All you've done and where you've been
And knowledge you have learned
Become the sum of who you are
And where you have sojourned.
When the mind is daily "tuned"
With wisdom from the Word,
All the patterns of the mind
The Lord will undergird.
"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God."

Precious Oil
Diplomacy is precious oil
The "cutting" of harsh words to foil.
This is a great skill to learn,
And many friendships it will earn.
It will "cushion" what we say
And drive ill feelings far away.
It is wrapped in kind concern
And "obstacles" will overturn.
Diplomacy can help to heal
Because it's thoughtfulness is real.
How much better life can be
If we will learn diplomacy!
"A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver."
Proverbs 25:11 KJV
"A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!"

Overflowing Love
The love of God is very real,
Our lives to cushion and to heal.
When salvation we receive
From sin and stain He gives us leave.
Those who will receive His love
From circumstance will rise above.
When He turns a life around
Joy and gladness will abound.
We can leave the past behind
And lovely new horizons find.
God's love is as a rushing stream
Our lives to rescue and redeem.
"For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us."

Whispers Of The Heart
The gentle whispers of the heart
Are heard in God's keen ear.
The softest words deep down inside
To His eye will bring a tear.
When He takes note of a heart
Which turns to Him in prayer,
Tenderly He holds that heart
And gives it loving care.
As the heart draws close to Him
And in His hand will rest,
It will find His rich reward
And truly will be blessed.
"Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart."

Wisdom Needed
All the learning in the world
Will not make people wise.
But people with much knowledge
By their words can wear disguise.
They may be quite brilliant,
Yet deficient of Life's facts.
All their seeming knowledge
From God's wisdom oft distracts.
Wisdom from the Word of God
Becomes our strength and source.
When knowledge and great learning fail,
God's Word will reinforce.
God discerns the hearts of men
And sees right through facade.
Men may "soar" and fool some folks
But cannot fool the heart of God.
"For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."

Be Still, My Soul
Be still, my soul... the Lord is near.
In Him I have no need to fear.
He is here, right by my side.
In His strength I will abide.
In Him I will be confident.
The help He brings is Heaven-sent.
I'll not tremble, but will stay
Within His peace... a strong forte'.
O my soul, delight in Him.
He is light when skies are dim.
Be at peace, have rest and calm.
His stillness is a soothing balm.

Happy Father's Day
Hand-In-Hand With Dad
When your little child you hold
To him you are a man of gold.
When you take the time to say
"I love you", you have made his day.
Walking with him, hand-in-hand,
Will help him feel you understand.
His confidence will grow and grow
As to him your love you show.
Though each step he takes is small,
Believe in him... and he won't fall.
If you're steady by His side,
Deep friendship always will abide.

Today
I cannot change where I have been,
Nor can I walk that way again.
Yesterday will not return.
Today should be my first concern.
Nor will I think on "where I'll be".
"Now" is right in front of me!
If I use my time today
Our God to serve and to obey...
I won't worry where I've been
Or fret about tomorrow then.
Through our God, each day is blessed.
And every day will hold His best!
"Take no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself."

Think Before You Speak
Think before you speak
Or give anyone critique.
God made you, but also them.
In Him you're both unique!
They may be a super-star,
Or weaker than you think you are.
Either way you both have worth,
And God is watching from afar.
We must keep our eyes on Him
And measure not another soul.
Precious in His sight are all.
Each one has a special role.

Even In Little Things
I had a quiet time to write,
But soon my peacefulness took flight.
A neighbor started talking loud.
Through my thoughts her loud voice "plowed".
Wasted words and senseless chatter
In the ear are noise and clatter.
Lord, save me from this chatterbox!
This stream of words I must outfox.
I asked the Lord to stop this noise
So I could write and keep my poise.
Moments later she was gone.
No longer did her talk go on.
This matter seemed to be quite small.
But God is faithful when we call.
He had helped me to stay calm.
His presence is a healing balm.
"Great is thy faithfulness."

Many Words
Some folks "bluster" and talk big.
By their words deep holes they dig.
Words pour forth without much thought
And with foolishness are fraught.
Some folks quietly observe
Until they know their words will serve
Good purpose and have good import.
Their words wisdom's riches court.
Frivolous words are such a waste
And sometimes aren't on real facts based.
But when you hear a wise man speak,
Know his words will be unique.
"Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding; but that which is in the midst of fools is made known."

Freeing Up Our Time
The more "stuff" we own, the more time we spend
Just keeping it up... there just is no end!
It often is simpler to own a lot less,
Lest it weigh us down and our time will possess.
If we have too much, we could start to share,
Blessing another to show that we care.
Then we are free and don't have to fuss
With way too much stuff... or clutter or muss!

"See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil."

Blazing A Trail
When we're starting out anew
And begin to "blaze a trail",
Are we "taking land" for good?
Do our efforts have avail?
The direction of our lives,
When we've diligently planned,
Can make an impact of great value
Which will matter and will stand.
We can change the world
By the way we live each day.
Our lives can make a difference
And help others find their way.
The gifts we leave behind
When our lives are finally spent
Are things we do for others.
May they be of blessed intent.
"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."
Matthew 5:16 KJV

When Less Is More
What good is much treasure with trouble and sorrow.
Will that which we have bring us joy for the morrow?
Hope does not rest in surplus of things,
And joy isn't in that to which man clings.
When we know Jesus, much less is more.
Honoring Him, man never is poor.
When following Him, He saves man much grief,
And from many burdens brings blessed relief.
Leaning on Him, man's stance is much stronger.
Life is more simple, and joy is much longer.
He gives man balance and saves him much stress.
Loving the Lord will never be "less".
"Better is little with the fear of the Lord than great treasure and trouble therewith."

A Special Garden
In my spirit I see an old-fashioned garden wall, like a lovely painting. There are climbing roses trailing over the top of the wall and flowers and tall grass growing up in front of the wall, undisturbed and tranquil in the morning light. What a serene picture...
In today's rushed world we owe it to ourselves to create a place of serenity... maybe not a garden but a place set apart where we can "escape" and reflect on the goodness of God, where we can become quiet enough to hear Him whisper, where our senses are fine-tuned to His beauty, where our focus is renewed and "clutter" falls away. This is so-o-o inviting...
For those who have never had a "garden" or a quiet place, I urge you to start now to create one... and return there often. Or maybe just take time to picture yourself in a garden... absorb it's fragrance and peace and healing. Receive of the goodness of God.
"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
Matthew 11:28 KJV

Stretch And Grow
In following a chosen path, if you will persevere,
You will stretch and grow, and good progress will appear.
Sometimes if you're weary and often feel like quitting,
You think it would be easier to sit and do some knitting!
Staying focused on your goals... within will build some grit.
"At the start" or "halfway through" you should not choose to quit!
Remember through each weary day, "with no pain, there is no gain".
As you labor you will find... achievement is a higher plane.
Reach up to that higher place until you reach your chosen goal.
It may surprise you then to learn that no one else could fill your role.
What you thought you couldn't do has proved to be worthwhile.
Your example has much worth... you went the second mile!
"...This one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."
Philippians 4:13-14 KJV

The Tears Of God
When God's people turn away
And from His loving presence stray...
When He does not have their ear,
Surely God must shed a tear.
In Jesus, God has given all,
And to each has given call.
When we answer to His voice
He is blessed we've made that choice.
Some folks make Him wait awhile,
But when they come His heart will smile.
Some will wait for many years.
O'er these our God sheds many tears.
He desires our fellowship,
With blessings our lives will equip.
When we love God, all Heaven cheers!
We bring joy instead of tears.
"The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing."

Grateful Thoughts
The dormancy of winter yielded
To the fragrant air of spriing...
The blessing of the flowering trees
And lovely sounds I hear birds sing...
The freshness of the morning air
And breeze which brings it's gentle touch...
Thank You, God, for endless beauty.
You have given us so much!
All around us is reminder...
Your creation is a gift
From Your gracious, loving hand...
Our hearts to cheer and lives to lift!
"Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits."

Changing Seasons
All of us will go through "seasons".
Life presents to us it's reasons.
In each one we find our pace
And "rest" there in that special place.
But when that season finds it's end
And circumstances need to bend,
We may be slow to make a change
Because the change may feel strange.
Clinging to the former place
May delay us in life's race.
In God's seasons we can rest,
And in each season will be blessed.
"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven..."
Ecclesiastes 3:1 KJV

People Who Inspire - Kathy
God created a lovely rose
And dressed her in exquisite clothes,
Strong of stem, with shiny leaf...
A truly beautiful motif.
Her fragrance has a healing touch
Which to many has meant much.
Faithfully this rose has bloomed...
By God's own hand... it's petals groomed.
She stands tall amoung His flowers,
And blessings on so many showers.
God is smiling on His rose,
This one His fragrance truly sows.

Be Glad
Count your blessings every day.
Tell God "Thank You" as your pray.
For all His blessings number more
Than things you fear may be in store.
Focus on the work He's done.
Rejoice in what He has begun.
Look forward to a day that's bright.
Don't let dullness rob your light.
If you look up you won't bog down.
When you're thankful you won't frown.
Rejoice! Be glad, for God is good.
He'll help you do all that you should!
"Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee. Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name."

A Glimpse Of Heaven
I remember from many years ago a man named Ben, who was rushed into emergency with symptoms of a heart attack.
The emergency room doctors immediately applied the paddles to his chest, struggling to keep him alive, but he was fighting them. They were trying to encourage him, saying, "C-mon, Ben you can make it!"
But he argued with them, "No, I don't want to."
After this happened a few times his heart began to stabilize. The team effort of the doctors saved him. Afterwards the doctors said to him, "Why were you fighting us so hard?"
He answered, "Because I was already seeing the colors of heaven. They were so beautiful, and I wanted to see more."
What glory awaits us throughout eternity... for those who know the Lord.
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
John 3:16 KJV

Lovely Thoughts
When I think of lovely things
My heart smiles, my spirit sings.
"Loveliness" brings joy and peace,
From daily tensions brings release.
When I train my thoughts to be
On beauty God would have me see,
Then I start to recognize
His beauty right before my eyes.
My perspective has new scope.
Things I had not seen will "ope".
When I seek and stay aware,
God brings beauty everywhere.
"Whatsoever things are lovely, think on these things..."

Heart-Cry
Can there be an end to sorrow?
Will the sun peek through tomorrow?
If you're needing increased hope
Just to daily help you cope...
May Jesus be your constant cover
And angels round about you hover
To help you with the pain you feel
And give you joy and new-found zeal.
You will find a new day's coming
And soon you even may be "humming".
The Lord will help you to stand strong,
That you might sing a bright new song.
"Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance."

Humility's Skill
Humility curbs the errors of the tongue
From words that are careless and sometimes far-flung.
Humility sees without clouded vision,
'Cause "self" does not block it's careful precision.
Humility never is weak, but is wise,
And with understanding, in strength it will rise...
Dousing the flames of challenge and ire.
With kindness and skill, it puts out the "fire".
Humility is quiet and often will rest,
Is not in a hurry ad weighs every test.
Humility's actions with love are well-laced,
Helpful and caring, gentle and graced.
"But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.."

A Pleasant Season
While my body moves slower, my mind is a-whiz.
(Since I'm retired, that's the way that it is!)
I do not need to run in a race,
But I will have fun and enjoy my new pace.
I can still learn, and I can still write.
Sharing with others brings daily delight.
So I am busy and never get bored...
Many new thoughts within me are stored.
This season in life is a lovely new blessing...
Sometimes a fun way of memories expressing.
Never do I want to sit and just "laze".
I am light-hearted... and give God the praise!
"This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it."

Thank You, Veterans
Thank you, Vets, to one and all
Who have answered freedom's call...
Those who fought and bled and died
That we in peace may still abide.
To those who carry wounds or scars,
In our hearts you're truly stars...
Worthy of our highest praise.
To you our gratefulness we raise.
In freedom's battles lives were lost...
A worthy cause but painful cost.
For our freedom you stood tall...
Heroes one and heroes all!

One-Of-A-Kind
God has made us... every one.
Rejoice in what the Lord has done!
We are worthy in His sight.
In each one He has delight.
Who or what can put us down
Or cause us not to smile but frown?
When we recognize our worth,
In our lives great things find berth.
His plan is one-of-a-kind unique...
Deserving of our time to seek.
When we find our special niche,
In Him our lives are truly rich.

A Bright Future
Sin creates blotches which we can't erase
Except through our Lord and His saving grace.
Without Salvation the future is dim.
Heaven is bright, outer darkness is grim.
Some day we'll step through eternity's door
And have opportunity Heav'n to explore.
Tears and affliction will be left behind.
The joy of God's presence is what we will find.
What expectation we have in the Lord!
His sweet Salvation brings Heav'nly reward.
We have God's promise... the future is bright!
Heaven's reward our hope should excite!
"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. To him that overcometh will I grant to set with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne."

Our Great Creator
God's majesty is in a tall mountain peak,
And the size of the oceans of His vastness speak.
The heavens are far beyond our comprehension.
We cannot fathom their size and dimension.
In trees which grow tall and plants which are small,
His creativity is given for all.
Bees which make honey were part of His plan...
Something so small, yet created for man.
All that we have is from God's own hand...
So very much more than we understand.
For His lovingkindness we bring Him acclaim.
All glory and honor be unto His name!
"Praise ye the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power. Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness."

Blessed Are The Thoughtful
Blessed are the thoughtful in heart,
Who reach out to others and kindness impart.
Thoughtfulness often will touch "the right spot"
And bring joy or healing where needed a lot.
We do not know the "weights" in a heart.
The heart may be heavy... or empty in part.
Just being kind may "open a door"
And may be the key for that heart to soar.
Practicing kindness will stir up good will
And make a day better than "run-of-the-mill".
Thoughtfulness balances "woes" with a smile,
Enabling others to run the "nth" mile.
"Love endures long and is patient and kind."

Everything We Need
When we need strength to run our course
God Almighty is our Source.
When we need wisdom to succeed,
Our very footsteps He will lead.
Should we face a fearsome test,
In the midst He gives us "rest".
When we need a fresh ideal
He provides new hope and zeal.
We can draw on Heaven's store
For everything we need... and more.
In the Lord we are complete
And always have a blessed retreat.

A Ready Listener
If someone wants to just "reflect",
It's kind to show them your respect,
Pause and wait until they speak,
Lest their thought you sadly tweak.
Kindliness will lightly tread...
And then will listen to what's said.
We should lend a ready ear,
For truth and wisdom we may hear.

Celebrate God's Goodness
It is good to review the blessings of God,
To always be mindful... our memory to prod,
Lest in our hurriedness we bypass "gold"
And don't even see a blessing unfold.
Hurriedness "crowds" sensitivity's space,
And we miss a blessing because of our pace.
If we will purpose to ponder and pause,
We will find reason to give Him applause.
We cannot number the gifts He pours out.
His beauty and blessings are all round about.
For all that He gives, we should celebrate.
Our God is awesome... His beauty is great!
"Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation."

To always be mindful... our memory to prod,
Lest in our hurriedness we bypass "gold"
And don't even see a blessing unfold.

And we miss a blessing because of our pace.

We will find reason to give Him applause.

Special Shoes
We cannot fill another's shoes
But if we really tried,
Probably our feet would hurt
And maybe, too, our pride.
We must recognize OUR shoes,
For only these will fit.
As we grow into these shoes
We'll find our walk has grit.
Much of God's design is lost
If we don't wear His shoes.
We could lose God's chosen path
In something we would choose.
Only we can fill our shoes
Which God has hand-designed.
If we'll wear them faithfully,
His "riches" we will find.
"Know ye that the Lord he is God; it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves..."
Psalm 100:3 KJV

A Letter To My Grandson
Because you truly love the Lord
Your life will have a rich reward.
He will always help you know
What's right wherever you will go.
When He designed you and was done,
You were like no other one.
You were precious from your birth
Because He gave you special worth.
Though others know not who you are,
To God you are a "super-star".
Remember that He gave you light.
Always let your light shine bright.
"Thy hands have made me and fashioned me..."

Riches Of God
The Word will help us find our niche.
It's well-learned lessons make us rich.
Wisdom is a priceless gift,
Our thoughts to change and lives to lift.
Diligence will prosper us...
Always it will be a plus.
Patience' work makes us complete...
A precious value to entreat.
Humility will earn God's grace
And lift us to a higher place.
Giving, even when hard-pressed,
Will always cause us to be blessed.
Faith pursued through "storm" or test
Will "carry" us and bring us rest.
All God's gifts will make us wise.
Each one is a treasured prize.

The Smile Of God
God isn't impressed with "the proper and prim",
But honors the simple who wholly love Him.
He isn't swayed by the famous and rich
Or talked into anything by a smooth "pitch".
He looks at hearts, uncluttered and pure,
And smiles on the humble, shy and demure.
For hidden in these are His riches and treasure...
Those He can use in significant measure.
We cannot strive to achieve a great name
Or place our attention on glitz, wealth and fame.
God will promote the child-like and true
And cause them to prosper in all that they do.
"Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven."
Matthew 18:4 KJV

Peace For Our Nation
May our poeple bow and pray,
Seek repentance and obey.
Pray for God's continuing cover.
May His guardian angels hover.
God is holy, God is true.
Reverence to Him is due.
We can't taunt or mock His name
But His holiness proclaim!
All our peace across this land
Truly rests in God's own hand.
If we pray and intercede
Our heartfelt prayers He will heed.
"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

Always Have Hope
When circumstance presents a test,
Always there is hope!
It really doesn't do much good
To sit around and mope.
How much time and energy
Are lost in gloomy days.
If we set our mind on "go",
A new trail we might blaze!
God might cause our present path
To have an end or change
And set us in a bright new place,
Our lives to rearrange.
Hope will prompt us to have cheer
And always to look up.
It will not leave us in a slump
But is a pleasant "cup".
"I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope."

Perfect Peace
When there seems to be no peace,
Jesus makes our angst to cease.
He will help us to be still.
Our need for "rest" He will fulfill.
When we lean on Him and trust
The way we think He will adjust.
Leaning on Him will bypass
Those thoughts and worries which harrass.
Praise His name, for He is able
To make all our thoughts be stable.
He will hear our every sigh.
Trust and pray... to Him draw nigh.
"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee."

Happy Mother's Day
The Gift Of Motherhood
Once a mother, always a mother...
A privileged experience unlike any other.
No matter the age, whether daughter or son,
Children are special, for God made each one.
Every day is filled with surprise
As children explore and learn to be wise.
Leading and guiding them brings rich reward
As they grow and blossom in things of the Lord.
Then when the children are raised up and grown,
Moms can reflect on the joys they have known
And maybe look forward to having more fun
With a little granddaughter or precious grandson.
"Her children arise up, and call her blessed..."
Proverbs 31:28 KJV

Lightheartedness
Humor is a pleasantry
To make us smile and bring us glee.
Wit and laughter are much fun
And seem to help our work get done.
Attitude and frame of mind
Will lighten up "the daily grind".
Making choice to have a smile
Will help us go "the second mile"...
Causing others to delight
And maybe have a day that's bright.
Laughter, smiles and merriment
On some days will be heaven-sent.
"A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones."

Blind Spots
Just when we think we know quite a lot,
We may be growing a little blind spot.
We will learn more by keeping close watch
So pride doesn't blind our sight with it's blotch.
Selfishness limits the depth of our sight...
We only see part of that which is right.
It creates shadows and "fog" in our vision
So we do not see with humble precision.
Those who procrastinate don't see at all
And don't sense the need for urgency's call.
Arrogance, laziness, ego and pride
Will cause UGLY blind spots where'er they reside.
If there are "patterns" which get in the way
Of seeing things clearly, take time out to pray.
We will see well if we remain humble
And will not form blind spots which cause us to stumble.
"Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer."
Psalm 19:14 KJV

Be Careful What You Say
Always words are as a measure,
Showing if a heart holds treasure.
Words from humble hearts have worth,
'Cause lovingkindness there had birth.
In our words our hearts will speak.
Let our words be pure and meek.
Every spoken word is weighed.
For idle words a price is paid.
What is in the heart rings clear
And kindly words can bring much cheer.
But worthless words may bring a snare...
Of this we need to stay aware.
"For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned."

Precious Moments
When times are moving just too fast
Our precious moments might not last.
Special memories can get lost
Instead of on our hearts embossed.
God will share with us perspective
If we pause and are reflective.
He enriches all we do
Whene'er we seek to know His view.
Do not hurry through each day.
Linger sometimes just to pray.
Receive God's fullness all the time.
Savor moments which are "prime".
"Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation: on thee do I wait all the day."

More Then Enough
They who give the Lord full sway
Will never falter in their way.
Blessings which they cannot buy
To all their footsteps will draw nigh...
Lots of laughter, lots of cheer,
Free from bondage, free from fear,
Lots of wisdom, lots of hope
To offset error and give them scope.
Benefits from Heaven's store
Are like a mighty reservoir.
Never will God's "wealth" run dry.
His love and kindness satisfy.
"Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits."

Parents, Listen To Your Child
Children today need a loving "cocoon"
Which by the parents is thoughtfully hewn...
Where they may speak and share what they feel...
Where they can rest and linger and heal.
Problems they face can become "a full cup".
All their emotions get stretched or used up.
When they can "spill out" the stress that they have,
Loving response will be as warm salve.
Parents, be sure you hear your child's cry.
Listen intently so you will know why
They may be suffering and feel all alone,
Just needing comfort and love to be shown.
"Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord..."

Planning Well
It's wise to have foresight in planning ahead.
A schedule un-planned can sometimes cause dread.
Things will pile up, confusion will reign.
And "running behind" will cause undue strain.
With "too much to do" we can't keep things straight,
So we must measure "the size of our plate".
If it's too full, we need to cut back.
Important things never should suffer from lack.
Well-balanced planning will help us find ease,
And we will discover results which will please.
Planning ahead is a helpful solution,
For "tired and harried", it brings resolution.
"A man's heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps."

A Shining Mirror
The Word is a mirror in which we should gaze
To see if we have imperfection or "haze".
It will reveal a "blemish" or stain
And give us high standards to which to attain.
When our reflection reveals the Word
Then by example will others be spurred.
Becoming as mirrors, then we reflect light
To help others see if they might have "blight".
The Word gives us depth and shapes our reflection.
It's wisdom will change our very complexion.
Some mirrors are "foggy", and some clear and bright.
A mirror of the Word is an image of Light.
"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

Joy Will Not Fail
We can leave a bright new trail
Of hope for those who ail or fail.
Sometimes when a person's down
A smile will help offset their frown.
Encouragement is often needed,
And joy will need to be "re-seeded".
Laughter helps a heart to heal
And joy restores an "even keel".
By example we inspire
And cause another to reach higher.
As we walk we leave a trail
Of hope and joy which will not fail.
"Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad."

Just One Step
We only can take one step at a time,
Our valleys to cross or mountains to climb.
If we skip steps we may not succeed.
We will not have all the skills that we need.
We learn as we go, our successes to earn.
Taking a "shortcut" should be of concern.
Diligence and patience we should not resist,
For herein is "gold" which we might have missed.
God sets the pace through which we are trained.
As we walk in it, much knowledge is gained.
Wisdom will come and be as a light
To lead us and guide us in ways which are right.

A Healed Heart
The cry of a heart, piercing the night,
Lonely and frightened and needing much light,
Is heard by the Father and studied with care,
His love and compassion to pour out and share.
In Him is light... to stave off all night,
Offering strength and hope which is bright.
Darkness and heaviness must flee away
As He hovers near, all fears to allay.
He holds the heart, it's suffering to heal,
Bringing good cheer and love which is real.
His warmth and caring will make the heart smile,
Able to laugh and face the next mile.
"The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?"

Moving Forward
When we are comfortable, we don't like change,
But sometimes our circumstance is re-arranged.
Then we are caught betwixt and between.
On new "adventures" we may not be keen.
We cannot move on if we live in the past.
When we look forward a new day is cast.
Change will then come and give a new reason
To want to go on into a new season.
When we are willing to make forward movement
Our situation will show marked improvement.
God does not want us to miss any chance,
For always our lives He wants to enhance.
"And I am convinced and sure of this very thing, that He Who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ - right up to the time of His return - developing (that good work) and perfecting and bringing it to full completion in you."

Philippians 1:6 Amplified Bible
