God's Timing

The Lord will have good plans for us,
So as we "wait" we should not fuss.
His timing we must not neglect
As plans for us He will perfect.

He prepares us day by day
In all we do and all we say.
We should always make the choice
To listen closely for His voice.

As we are more and more aware,
New joys and treasure He will share.
In the waiting times we stretch.
In us His wisdom He will etch.

He goes before and makes us ready
So in Him we will be steady.
Our path ahead will be much-blessed,
In Him we will have joy and rest.

"He has made everything beautiful in its time."

A Banquet Table

The Word is our most precious source
So we don’t wander off our course.
There we find the “bread” we need...
God’s wisdom on which we may feed.

The Word is full of righteous fare.
When we dine there we won’t err.
God’s provision is replete.
From His banquet, come and eat.

The Word will satisfy your soul,
Lift you up and make you whole.
Read the Word... O taste and see,
And surely you will soon agree.

“How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!"
Psalm 119:103 KJV

“O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.”

More Than Enough

If you've gone through a time that's rough,
The love of God is more than enough
To set you back up on your feet
And all your deepest needs to meet.

He is able to bring change
And difficulties rearrange.
He will make a way for you
And lift you up in all you do.

When you pray, God will be there,
So do not give way to despair.
He will lead you by His hand
And once again in strength you'll stand.

"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake."
Psalm 23:1-3 KJV

A New Day's Promise

Always there is promise
When we wait upon the Lord.
At the dawning of each day
Love and mercy are outpoured.

When we place our trust in Him
Our faith and hope will have increase.
Any fears we may have had
Will start to fall away and cease.

In faith we reach a higher plane
Where we believe and start to see
The workings of our precious Lord
So we may prosper and be free.

"It is because of the Lord's mercy and loving-kindness that we are not consumed, because His (tender) compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great and abundant is Your stability and faithfulness."
Lamentations 3:22-23 Amplified Bible

Peace In Troubled Times

Keep your mind set on things above. Be lifted up out of the high tides of worldly turmoil. Let your thoughts be full of the Word of God... that you might know peace.

And when that peace has settled in, your perspective will be new and refreshed. You will be able to see more clearly what is most important. Let worldly things fall away... draw nigh unto Him.

Seek this peace on a continuing basis.... and then rest there. There is no safer place to be.

"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."
John 14:27 KJV

"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."

No More "Loose Ends"

When I hear the news each day of times, events and trends,
Within I have an urgency to gather up "loose ends"
To "center" on important things so I can stay "on track",
To hear what God would say to me,,, in every way to not be slack.

He is faithful to direct and guide us in each step we take.
In Him we then can find our way in all decisions we should make.
Being anchored in the Lord will bring to us a steadiness.
Giving us a sense of peace and a new-found readiness.

"Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent people), making the very most of the time (buying up each opportunity), because the days are evil. Therefore do not be vague and thoughtless and foolish, but understanding and firmly grasping what the will of the Lord is."
Ephesians 5:15-17 Amplified Bible

HAVING STRONG ANCHOR

Some folks have no anchor... their lives are adrift...

They will be blown about by winds and currents of the times, which can sometimes push, shove and rob stability. Should tides of pressure rise around them they will have difficulty "hanging on" or staying afloat.

Now, more than ever, it is important to chart a course in safe waters and put down anchor in a sheltered and safe place.

"He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty (Whose power no foe can withstand)."
Psalm 91:1 Amplified Bible

Tried And True

Wisdom happens through the years,
Sometimes with some sweat and tears.
Young folks say, "Try something new."
They haven't yet learned "tried and true".

Experience speaks and says, "Be wise,
So you are not faced with surprise."
Gather wisdom, move with care.
Of quick decisions, pause, beware.

You'll sometimes learn through trial and error
But can avoid mistakes through prayer.
Savor counsel, weigh the "new"
To know if it is right for you.

"Hear counsel, receive instruction, and accept correction that you may be wise in the time to come."
Proverbs 19:20 Amplified Bible

Joyful Days

Let joy be contagious, for it has great “wealth”.
It makes you feel good, and it’s good for your health.
Spread it around... let merriment flow
To offset all gloom, and happiness sow.

Choose to look up, though you may be down.
Joy can be “worn” instead of a frown.
Joy gives us balance and helps heal sorrow.
The joy of the Lord is our strength for the morrow.

Joy be unto you... now pass it around.
With happiness may your whole day be crowned.
Joy is as sunshine to brighten your day.
When you have joy you won’t feel blasé.

“For the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
Nehemiah 8:10 KJV

Loving Hands And Loving Hearts

If we bring healing or make worthy impact
In only one life, we surely must try.
In all of our labors and work of our hands
We should not question who, what or why.

If we are willing, our God will use us
To touch someone's life and show them His grace.
Bringing them kindness and showing them love
A pile-up of hurting and pain may erase.

We cannot fathom the size of some needs,
But we can be light and maybe bring hope.
We're changing the world, one soul at a time.
The work of our hands has heavenly scope.

"Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another;even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection."

Welcome Spring

My flowering plum tree is welcoming Spring.
Its branches are full of lovely pink fluff.
At first hint of Spring its blossoms burst forth.
Of Spring's bright surprises I can't get enough!

Springtime brings promise of newness and hope
And causes excitement to stir deep within.
Winter's long weariness has to give way
To Springtime's bright smile... which always will win!

God's sweet reminder when "winter" seems long...
A new day will blossom to help spur us on.
Spring has a fervor and bursts with new life.
Her loveliness lingers when winter is gone.

"It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness."
Lamentations 3:22-23 KJV

(God was speaking to my heart as I wrote this. We all face "winters" in life, but do not be discouraged. Hope waits at the door and knocks and wants to bring new life, refreshing from weariness, new direction, fresh perspective, joy deep within, freedom from weightedness, and glad-heartedness.)

Truth Is Our Friend

Truth will not falter..... it’s strength man can’t alter.
We should not ignore it..... we need to explore it!
Let truth be known..... within the heart sown.
Then we have a “base” which we can embrace.

When life makes demand, on truth we can stand.
It’s light we must savor, for it will bring favor.
God’s truths are a shield..... great blessings will yield.
On truth we depend..... His truth is our friend.

“Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.”
Psalm 51:6 KJV

“His truth shall be thy shield and buckler.”

Sound Counsel

People offer much advice.
Some is poor, but some precise.
We must sift the wheat from chaff,
For wisdom is not half-and-half.

There should not be a “worldly” mix.
If we’re not sure we should say “Nix”.
The Word of God is our best mirror
And helps our thinking to be clearer.

Some advice may have allure
But we should wait until we’re sure.
Haste can make waste we don’t need.
We must weigh advice we heed.

“Blessed (happy, fortunate, prosperous and enviable) is the man who walks and lives not in the counsel of the ungodly...(following their advice, their plans and purposes)...”
Psalm 1:1 Amplified Bible

“The wise also will hear and increase in learning, and the person of understanding will acquire skill and attain to sound counsel (so that he may be able to steer his course rightly).”

Showing Respect

We can learn by watching others,
Be they neighbors, friends or brothers,
How their actions leave impact
And how we then should interact.

If we pause and show respect
And with humility reflect,
Our perspective then will grow,
And deeper insights we will know.

As we choose to "rise above"
And choose to speak a word in love,
Our respect can bring "release",
And we can leave a trail of peace.

"Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer."
Psalm 19:14 KJV

Healing For Brokenness

Brokenness God can restore.
He brings healing, love and more.
The former things shall pass away
As He brings forth a bright new day.

Shake off that which bent you low.
To sad memories say, "No!"
Look ahead to brighter days,
For God does wonders which amaze.

Let His oil of healing flow.
Let His joy within you grow.
Rejoice in that which God will do,
For He will truly make things new.

"O Lord my God, I cried to You and You have healed me."
Psalm 30:2 Amplified Bible

"You have turned my mourning into dancing for me; You have put off my sackcloth and girded me with gladness, to the end that my tongue and my heart and everything glorious within me may sing praise to You and not be silent, O Lord my God. I will give thanks to You forever."

A Valentine Blessing

May you walk through fair fields with peace and with ease
And feel God’s presence in a soft breeze.
May sunshine by day and starlight by night
Fill your whole being with joy and delight.

May all your footsteps be cushioned by love,
Covered and blessed by the Father above.
May He lead you gently in all of your ways
And faithfully walk with you all of your days,

“The Lord bless thee, and keep thee: the Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: the Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.”

Too Many Distractions

Take time off from the smart phone
And playing endless video games.
Life and time rush quickly by.
It's wise to have some higher aims.

Hopes and dreams and worthy goals
Are sometimes lost or face delay
If we are sidetracked in our path
And fritter too much time away.

When we think or dream or read
We start to learn who we can be.
Life will offer us much wisdom
When from distractions we're set free.

"The wise also will hear and increase in learning, and the person of understanding will acquire skill and attain to sound counsel (so that he may be able to steer his course rightly)."

The Gift Of Caring

Eat of the bread of kindness and caring.
Partake of the fare of giving and sharing.
Drink of the waters of loving expression.
Dine at God’s table in sweet intercession.

We are not “second” when others are first.
In blessings from God we soon are immersed.
Living for self is empty and hollow.
When living for others, much joy will follow.

In giving of self we often can’t measure
The worth of the gift, but it will be treasure
To Him who receives and knows that you care.
For you do not know the weights he must bear.

“Clothe yourselves therefore, as (God’s own picked representatives,) His own chosen ones, (who are) purified and holy and well-beloved (by God Himself, by putting on behavior marked by) tenderhearted pity and mercy, kind feeling, a lowly opinion of yourselves, gentle ways, (and) patience - which is tireless, long-suffering and has the power to endure whatever comes, with good temper.”

A Good Example

We never know who may be watching
Who we are and how we "walk"...
Whether we leave good example
Which is more than idle talk.

We may be encouragement
To one who's setting lifetime goals
Or one who's seeking to discover
What should be life's chosen roles.

Every day our actions speak
And may inspire at least a few
In their talk and in their walk,
High ideals to pursue.

“Who is there among you who is wise and intelligent? Then let him by his noble living show forth his (good) works with the (unobtrusive ) humility (which is the proper attribute) of true wisdom.”
James 3:13 Amplified Bible

Gladness Of Heart

Gladness of heart makes hard work seem light.
Joy deep within makes every day bright.
Joy is a gift of strength from the Lord,
And when we are down it strikes a bright chord.

The Lord IS our light and joy for each day.
He keeps us from feeling downcast or blasé.
In Him is buoyancy, fervor and "lift".
He keeps enthusiasm from going adrift.

Circumstance should not determine our joy.
In daily challenge the Lord is our buoy.
He is our balance and strength for each day.
His joy is delightful in every way.

"For the joy of the Lord is your strength."
Nehemiah 8:10 KJV

"In thy presence is fulness of joy."

A Wide-Open Book

Though we may have a pleasant facade,
We can’t hide a thing from the eyes of our God.
Our hearts are before Him as wide-open books.
Hearts which are faithful bring joy as He looks.

We are not perfect... we often may sin.
But our God will help us each battle to win.
He gives us strength to counter our weakness
And honors our stance of service and meekness.

The books of our lives will read very well
If in our hearts we invite Him to dwell.
We won’t have to think about things we must hide
When we follow Him and in Him abide.

“I, the Lord, search the mind, I try the heart, even to give to every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings.”
Jeremiah 17:10 Amplified Bible

Searching For Gold

As we go through life, we sometimes find "gold",
The kind we can't buy, for it isn't sold.
It often is hidden in uncommon places,
In people, in lives, in unknown faces.

In times with the Lord, and times spent in serving,
When we are sensitive and are observing...
Sometimes the Lord will open our eyes
And we will see gold in unusual guise.

Inside we're changed and have new perspective,
Being much humbled as we are reflective.
His gold is precious and much to be treasured...
A much-revered gift which cannot be measured.

"Happy (blessed, fortunate, enviable) is the man who finds skillfuland godly Wisdom, and the man who gets understanding (drawing it forth from God's Word and life's experiences). For the gaining of it is better than the gaining of silver, and the profit of it better than fine gold."

Heartfelt Prayer

Let waves of prayer wash over our land,
Intents of evil to disband.
Let deception be uncovered
And love of truth be rediscovered.

Let Godly men rise up in power
To lead and guide us in this hour.
Let statements of strong truth abound,
Bringing change which is profound.

May we truly understand
That humble prayer will cleanse our land.
God will hear a heartfelt prayer
Crying out because we care.

"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

Treasure

Man can’t boast about his wealth
And think that he is safe and sound.
It’s safer to draw nigh to God
Where heavenly riches may be found.

In Jesus’ name we have provision,
Even though we may be poor.
Earthly funds may fail in value
But Godly treasure will be sure.

Heavenly treasures multiply
When we lean upon the Lord,
In Him we truly are much safer.
His covering is our sure reward.

“The rich man’s wealth is his strong city, and as a high protecting wall, in his own imagination and conceit.”
Proverbs 18:11 Amplified Bible

“Gather and heap up and store for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust nor worm consume and destroy, and where thieves do not break through and steal; for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

Simplicity Wins

If clutter can't be organized
It probably should be thrown out!
For clutter seems to multiply,
And soon another pile will sprout!

This is true in where we live,
But sometimes it is how we think.
My mind some days has overload.
I really wish THAT pile would shrink.

If I'm not careful in my day,
Clutter seems to just sneak in.
Distracted focus is that thing
Which makes my day to be no-win.

Having space just feels so good,
And feeling peace gives me a lift.
When I am dealing with some clutter,
Simplicity is as a gift!

Brighter Days

When you're down and feeling weary
And your eyes are blurred and teary,
Ask the Lord to lift you up.
With joy He will refill your cup.

You will have a brightened day
If you will "rest" in Him and pray.
"Troubles' are pared down to size.
From weariness you'll start to rise.

His cheer will boost and spur you on,
Enabling you a smile to don.
His joy transforms those weary days
And creates beauty out of "grays".

"Why are you cast down, O my inner self? And why should you moan over me and be disquieted within me? Hope in God and wait expectantly for Him, for I shall yet praise Him, Who is the help of my countenance, and my God."

A Life Well-Designed

God has made you quite unique,
And He will make your life to speak.
The message of your life will shine
As with God’s giftings you align.

Maybe you are meant to serve,
To worship, teach or to observe,
To lead, or pray or be a star...
God has made you who you are.

All you do will have a “glow”,
Because God’s goodness you will sow.
Used of Him, you will be rich
And much-blessed in your special niche.

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”

New Thoughts For Each Day

Lord...
I wait on You this lovely morn.
How would You my day adorn?
What would you speak to me this day.
What insights would You have me weigh?

Your thoughts add gold unto my day,
Perspectives which will change my way.
You fill me with new life and light
And insights which are rich and bright.

Your words leave imprints deep within
And wisdom which will help me "win".
This day, in You, will hold much treasure...
More than I can even measure.

"Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not."
Jeremiah 33:3 KJV

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts."

Footsteps

Following in the footprints of the Lord is the only way our footsteps will be sure. If we step off the path of His footprints we could easily lose our way, for all other ground could hold unseen snares.

We might step on ground which is slippery underneath, causing our footing to be unstable. If the ground we choose is too soft or spongy, we might sink into a situation which is difficult to climb out of. Should we encounter gravel our walk could become painful; and rocky ground would cause overwhelming challenge where we could "fall" and get hurt.

The footprints of the Lord hold a good future for us. He is able to lead us through uncharted territory. His footprints do not restrict us but provide safety and leading, direction and understanding, wisdom and covering. In Him our footsteps will always be sure and His peace will be with us.

If we are going to walk a new path we should always seek His footprints first...

"When he has brought his own sheep outside, he walks on before them, and the sheep follow him because they know His voice."
