Precious Oil

Diplomacy is precious oil
The "cutting" of harsh words to foil.
This is a great skill to learn,
And many friendships it will earn.

It will "cushion" what we say
And drive ill feelings far away.
It is wrapped in kind concern
And "obstacles" will overturn.

Diplomacy can help to heal
Because it's thoughtfulness is real.
How much better life can be
If we will learn diplomacy!

"A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver."
Proverbs 25:11 KJV

"A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!"

Contentment

Do you have contentment in your circumstance or lot?
Or do you always wish for change, then struggle... all for naught?
Having more or making change may not bring peace or rest.
Contentment is a choice we make when we are tired or "pressed".

If we find our peace in God we will be at ease and glad.
Do not fuss and fume and fret, complain and sometimes e'en be mad.
Contentment is that precious rest which praises God in great or small,
Rejoicing in His lovingkindness, resting in His grace in all.

"Godliness with contentment is great gain."
I Timothy 6:6 KJV

"Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, 'I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.' "
Hebrews 13:5 KJV

The Center Of God's Will

Sometimes work we do is hard,
And purpose we don't see.
But if we're in the will of God,
Then happy we will be.

Work without perspective
Will sometimes cause resentment,
But knowing we are serving God
Brings meaning and contentment.

We may not understand
What He'll have us do or see,
But the center of God's will
Is the best place we can be.

This is where He trains us
And causes us to grow...
The place where we find joy
And where His blessings flow.

"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."
Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV

Blessed Mortar

A home can be built of bricks or of stone,
But without good mortar it's structure will "groan".
Lack of strong mortar can cause it to fail,
And all of it's walls will tend to be frail.

The mortar of love will bond it together
And seal it's strength against all kinds of weather.
Where peace and good will and unity dwell
The home will have stories of gladness to tell.

Storms cannot touch the beauty within.
Love's mortar is strong and always will win.
Over the years the home's strength will grow.
Out of it's rooms will love overflow.

"Love never fails - never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end."
I Corinthians 13:8 Amplified Bible

Strength In Him

When you cannot make a change
But factors wish to re-arrange,
Ask the Lord to strengthen you
And show you what you need to do.

Let Him take away your fears.
Let Him wash away your tears.
In His presence there is rest
And sure relief for every test.

He will help you simplify
That which makes you tend to sigh,
And make you equal to your task
If you will simply pray and ask.

"But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me: my glory, and the lifter up of mine head. I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill."
Psalm 3:3-4 KJV

"Stuff" Is Just "Stuff"

"Stuff" light-heartedness won't make,
And having much our time will take.
"Baggage" makes a burden-bearer.
Clinging to it causes error.

Sometimes "extra" just collects,
Our freedom and our space affects.
Constantly we should address
This problem, lest we have a mess!

Sadly, "stuff" will bog us down
And sometimes even cause a frown.
"Stuff" our joy won't guarantee.
How much better to be free!!!

"Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world."
I John 2:15 KJV

"Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal."

Finely-Tilled Soil

When setting out to grow a crop
Or plant in soil never turned,
Plowing up the soil is rough.
By hard work are great crops earned.

If the soil is not prepared,
Seeds we plant just may not grow.
Plowing comes before success...
Is something we cannot forego.

From the farmer we learn much
As we watch him till his field.
By his patience and his labor
All his crops will bring good yield.

Equal to the farmer's plow
In daily life will be our prayer.
Prayer loosens up hard ground
And pulls out "weeds" which are a snare.

Prayer is prerequisite
To know just how we should proceed.
If we want our "crops" to grow,
Then prayer "plowing" is a need.

"He that ploweth should plow in hope; and he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope."
I Corinthians 9:10 KJV

Come To Me

Our precious Lord calls out today,
"Come to Me, My child, I pray.
Do not pause or hesitate,
Thinking you have time to wait."

"Don't let cares get in the way
Or cause your thoughts to go astray.
Salvation calls to you 'don't wait'.
Even now the hour is late."

"Though your sins be manyfold
I will pour out love untold.
Heavenly promise contemplate.
Come to Me, My child... don't wait."

"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me."
Revelation 3:20 KJV

Greed shows people no regard.
To be around it will be hard.
It will trample over good
And won't show kindness as it should.

Greediness just "wants it all",
Of many wrongs has no recall.
Haughty in it's attitude,
Oft with honor it will feud.

Because it always wants it's way
It causes many folks to stray.
God provides all that we need.
It's not good to foster greed.

"Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth."
Luke 12:15 KJV

Wisdom Needed

All the learning in the world
Will not make people wise.
But people with much knowledge
By their words can wear disguise.

They may be quite brilliant,
Yet deficient of Life's facts.
All their seeming knowledge
From God's wisdom oft distracts.

Wisdom from the Word of God
Becomes our strength and source.
When knowledge and great learning fail,
God's Word will reinforce.

God discerns the hearts of men
And sees right through facade.
Men may "soar" and fool some folks
But cannot fool the heart of God.

"For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."
Hebrews 4:12 KJV

Today

I cannot change where I have been,
Nor can I walk that way again.
Yesterday will not return.
Today should be my first concern.

Nor will I think on "where I'll be".
"Now" is right in front of me!
If I use my time today
Our God to serve and to obey...

I won't worry where I've been
Or fret about tomorrow then.
Through our God, each day is blessed.
And every day will hold His best!

"Take no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself."
Matthew 6:34 KJV

A Man Of God

A man of God has stature which is gained no other way.
Inward strength and confidence his lifestyle will convey.
Love of God and wisdom deep within his spirit rest,
Tempered by humility... with peace in ev'ry test.

He has found his source of strength to be Almighty God,
And his feet in holiness and service have been shod.
From his bright example there is much which can be learned.
His life speaks of merits which in prayer he has earned.

He will meet the challenges and tests of life with joy
'Cause he makes the Word of God to be his trusted buoy.
Of God's richest treasures in the Word he has partaken.
He has placed his trust in God and he cannot be shaken.

"Blessed is the man... whose delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper."

Choosing Good Friends

It's good to have discernment
About the friends we keep.
If they don't have wisdom,
Some problems we might reap.

For wisdom spurs us on and upward,
Carefully to walk,
Causing us to "measure" words
And foolishness to balk.

Wisdom brings consistency
And poise and common sense.
It recognizes foolishness
And sees right through pretense.

It turns the other way from wrong
And seeks a higher calling.
If our friends have wisdom,
We have much less chance of falling.

"He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed."
Proverbs 13:20 KJV

Giftings Untold

God is the author of beauty and skill
And into our lives His goodness will spill.
In every person are giftings untold.
What joy multiplied to watch them unfold!

But how will we soar if we don't know Him?
Our gifts may lie dormant or seem just a whim.
He opens doors we don't know are there
And makes us to blossom with beauty and flair.

To miss the "adventure" which our God has planned
Is living a life perhaps aimless or bland.
For each He has planned a bountiful niche.
Potential in Him is fruitful and rich.

"Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture."
Psalm 100:3 KJV

A Song In The Heart

A song in the heart is a song in life.
A song in the heart is a hedge against strife.
It's better to sing than to negatives cling.
Out of much singing will happiness spring.

Not just to speak did God give us voice.
He gave us music with which to rejoice.
When praises rise from deep in the heart,
Then singing bursts forth as a God-given art.

No matter the weather, no matter the news,
We can have joy if our voices we'll use
To bring forth a song... a precious, sweet sound.
Let singing have increase, let singing abound!

"Be filled with the Spirit; speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord."
Ephesians 5:18-19 KJV

Many Words

Some folks "bluster" and talk big.
By their words deep holes they dig.
Words pour forth without much thought
And with foolishness are fraught.

Some folks quietly observe
Until they know their words will serve
Good purpose and have good import.
Their words wisdom's riches court.

Frivolous words are such a waste
And sometimes aren't on real facts based.
But when you hear a wise man speak,
Know his words will be unique.

"Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding; but that which is in the midst of fools is made known."
Proverbs 14:33 KJV

Tread Softly

It is wisdom to tread softly in everything we do,
For hasty words or actions may obscure a Godly view.
God will show us how to move if we will pause and wait,
Walking in His timing and obeying His dictate.

How much grief and sorrow we can bypass in this way,
By being slow to speak or move in all we do or say.
Reverence and humility will keep us in God's will
And add to us His balance... to tread softly with good skill.

Gentleness will douse the flames of possible dissension,
Bringing oil of healing and promoting good dimension.
Learning to tread softly is a meek and gentle art,
Developed over time by a wise and humble heart.

"Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath."
James 1:19 KJV

"A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger."

When Less Is More

What good is much treasure with trouble and sorrow.
Will that which we have bring us joy for the morrow?
Hope does not rest in surplus of things,
And joy isn't in that to which man clings.

When we know Jesus, much less is more.
Honoring Him, man never is poor.
When following Him, He saves man much grief,
And from many burdens brings blessed relief.

Leaning on Him, man's stance is much stronger.
Life is more simple, and joy is much longer.
He gives man balance and saves him much stress.
Loving the Lord will never be "less".

"Better is little with the fear of the Lord than great treasure and trouble therewith."

Choose Joy

Are you a "bright note", or sober and sad?
Do others see you as happy or mad?
You can spark joy when others are down
By being upbeat and refusing to frown.

Choosing to laugh and wearing a smile
Can "color" your day and make it worthwhile.
Joy is contagious... a good thing to catch
And spread all around, it's warmth to dispatch.

You can make light each everyday task,
And when you are through in leisure can bask.
You need not be all "dragged out" and tired.
When you let joy in, you're happily "wired".

"A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones."
Proverbs 17:22 KJV

No Fear - Hidden In Him

When turmoil and crisis and chaos abound,
Peace and direction in Jesus are found.
He is the anchor we need in this day
To guide us and save us, whatever the fray.

We should not question His might or His power.
Be hidden in Him in the midst of that hour.
Carefully watch and be quick to hear
Any small sound of His voice in your ear.

He is our peace... in Him we can rest
Through every trial, commotion or test.
He is our refuge... in Him we may hide.
He gives safe covering where we may abide.

"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust."
Psalm 91:1-2 KJV

The Tears Of God

When God's people turn away
And from His loving presence stray...
When He does not have their ear,
Surely God must shed a tear.

In Jesus, God has given all,
And to each has given call.
When we answer to His voice
He is blessed we've made that choice.

Some folks make Him wait awhile,
But when they come His heart will smile.
Some will wait for many years.
O'er these our God sheds many tears.

He desires our fellowship,
With blessings our lives will equip.
When we love God, all Heaven cheers!
We bring joy instead of tears.

"The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing."

Being Light To Others

Bring a touch of softness to offset another's stress.
Speak a word of cheer or peace, your caring to express.
Have a ready smile or two to brighten someone's day.
In your heart be sensitive... to know just how to pray.

People need encouragement to lift them "up and out"
Of worry and disheartenment, anxiety and doubt.
Sometimes just some laughter will release a heavy load
And sponsor joy and happiness to set a bright, new mode.

"Let each esteem others better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others."
Philippians 2:3-4 KJV

Sing A Lovely Song

Virtue plays a lovely song,
Pure and holy, all day long.
Honor brings it's harmony
And with virtue will agree.

Goodness, too, will add it's tune
And with beauty will commune.
If you listen you will hear
A symphony within your ear.

Let this lovely music play
Deep within your soul today.
Listen for each precious strain
And sing along with it's refrain.

"Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."
Philippians 4:8 KJV

Accountability

God is calling His people to accountability. Answer His call! Answer His call! Timing is short. The hour is late. Correct what is wrong. Submit to His will. Be cleansed of all sin and errors in thinking.

Deal with areas which may not seem huge, but still are not right. Give the Lord free reign to "define" to you your errors in secret, lest in judgment they are made public before others.

It is time to make our declarations before the Lord so that we might move forward freely... in rhythm with His timing.

"For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow
to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. So then every
one of us shall give account of himself to God."
Romans 14:11-12 KJV

People Who Inspire - Kathy

God created a lovely rose
And dressed her in exquisite clothes,
Strong of stem, with shiny leaf...
A truly beautiful motif.

Her fragrance has a healing touch
Which to many has meant much.
Faithfully this rose has bloomed...
By God's own hand... it's petals groomed.

She stands tall amoung His flowers,
And blessings on so many showers.
God is smiling on His rose,
This one His fragrance truly sows.

Praying For Our Nation

Holy God of might and power,
Guide our footsteps in this hour.
We, Your people, seek Your face,
The works of darkness to displace.

Look upon our deep distress.
Rescue us from evil's press.
How we need Your strength and light
To offset darkness day and night.

What was birthed of You in prayer
Has fallen into serious error.
God have mercy. We have failed.
Save us lest we be derailed.

We cry out and trust in You
To turn this tide and see us through.
Our foundation, built in prayer,
Has need today for much repair.

"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

Winning

Man can assemble a plan or a scheme
And work to fulfill a goal or a dream.
With good momentum and God at his side
Man can achieve the goals he has eyed.

With the Lord's blessing it can come to pass,
Garner attention and honor amass.
God is the bridge when man cannot reach.
He is the Source, good wisdom to teach.

God brings the strength and power and might.
Yielded to Him, man's future is bright.
In prayer at the start is where man begins.
Then by God's hand man prospers and wins.

Careful Vision

TV, magazines and books
Into our thinking can place "hooks".
It is good to scrutinize
That which is before our eyes.

Worthy "mediums" help us grow,
That information we may know.
There is much which we can learn
But content we just must discern.

Unawares we can get caught
In thinking patterns good for naught.
Be careful what you read or watch.
Only choose what is top-notch.

"Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken thou me in thy ways."

Heavenly Reward

Jesus goes before us, and it's He who opens doors.
When we serve Him faithfully, blessings He outpours.
Life in service to our Lord is truly set apart...
A very special calling which is birthed within the heart.

Stepping in His footprints and following His lead
Will take us to new heights in life and cause us to succeed...
Not by standards man would set, but by His special plan.
Then when we have finished, Heav'n will cheer the race we ran!

What a joy to find His path and know when life is through
That Heaven will be waiting and will welcome me and you.
We will gain a glimpse of Heaven while serving here on earth
And be assured of entering there... reward of highest worth!

"And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day."

Growing In Him

Are we growing in the Lord?
Is the Word within us stored?
If we are content to "rest"
We may not find God's very best.

When He urges us to grow
Timely lessons He will show.
If He says to us "prepare"
We should seek His face in prayer.

He will strengthen what is weak,
Important truths to us will speak.
It isn't wise in times like these
To just relax and "be at ease".

"See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is."
Ephesians 5:15-17 KJV
