The Good News

Shadows live in worldly views,
And always this is not good news.
For many, values may be mixed.
Their insights have need to be fixed.

Only by the Word of God
Can we pierce the world's "facade".
For in it evil masquerades,
Reaching out as it parades.

The Word of God is full of power
And is the answer in this hour.
Good news therein can be found.
Pass the Good News all around!

"For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."
Hebrews 4:12 KJV

A Tug On Your Life

If you are feeling a "tug" on your life,
The Lord may be birthing a new work in you.
He'll give circumstance in which you will grow,
Then lead you and guide you to that which is new.

As He continues to tug on your life,
You still may think you're okay where you are.
But do not resist His promptings and call,
For the new work will be more exciting by far.

How sad it would be to miss purpose and call
And not to attain to God's very best.
Fulfillment of who He has made you to be
Is glorious praise from your life expressed!

"Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture."
Psalm 100:2-3 KJV

Winds Of Change

When winds of change are blowing hard,
Our Godly focus we must guard.
He will guide us through the “storm”
And help us find our brand new “norm”.

Change unsettles and can “jar”
But should not “upset” who we are.
We are covered by His grace.
Our future rests in His embrace.

In our God we have bright hope,
Knowing new doors He will ope.
He is there, right by our side.
With peace, in Him we will abide.

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

In Times Of Praise

When our lives are focused toward
A life of praise unto the Lord,
Worship changes all within,
Causing "newness" to begin.

Our perspective then is bright,
Washed in joy and filled with light.
Attitudes which were too tired
Give way to those much more inspired.

Worship nourishes the soul.
Deep within we are made whole.
Let hearts and hands to God be raised.
Always let His name be praised!

"I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth."
Psalm 34:1 KJV

A Safe Path

All our ways God will perfect.
His leading we cannot neglect.
When He speaks then we should heed.
He'll give us wisdom to proceed.

Sudden storms our sight can blur,
And unknown obstacles occur.
Wisdom might say "turn around...
You're on a road which isn't sound".

When we cannot see ahead
We're in an unsafe path to tread.
Traveling blindly is not wise.
An unsafe path can bring surprise.

"And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice."
John 10:4 KJV

Marching On

The way we think will rule our day,
Even change the words we say.
When we say, “I’m marching on!”
An overcoming “cloak” we don.

Even though we may feel tired,
“Marching on” keeps us inspired.
Good thoughts overcome our pain.
Instead of loss we will have gain.

“Thinking forward” is a plus,
Encouragement from God to us.
Looking up we will find joy
From God, our ever-present buoy.

“Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.”
Psalm 42:11 KJV

Heartfelt Tribute

Our highest tribute has been earned
By many who have not returned....
Who gave their lives for freedom’s cause.
For them we raise heartfelt applause.

We will always owe a debt
To every soldier, every vet.
Who bravely answered country's call.
They gave so much, and they stand tall.

To all who’ve served, our thanks we raise.
You deserve our heartfelt praise.
May God’s safekeeping follow you
And be your strength in all you do..

"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."

A Perfect Path

Travel lightly as you go
So all the thoughts of God you'll know.
Let Him speak into your heart,
For wise direction He'll impart.

Do not rush ahead of Him
Or wander off on sudden whim.
Timing should be in His hands
So you're not caught on shifting sands.

Let Him lead, in Him abide.
All your trust in Him confide.
You'll find a pathway which is straight,
Which, in Him, will be first-rate.
( A prized one you will celebrate!)

"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."

Live Well

All that we do will have an effect
On others around us... more than we know.
The gist of our lives will leave imprints and memories,
Hopefully some by which others can grow.

For those who are watching and those who will follow,
Let our example have substance and worth.
May we leave a heritage and “etchings” o’er time
Which to wisdom and love and goodness give birth.

Each life has purpose, design and intent
And great opportunity to impact the world.
For eternity’s sake let us choose to live well
And be as a banner of bright light unfurled.

“Let your light so shine before men that they may see your moral excellence and your praiseworthy, noble, and good deeds and recognize and honor and praise and glorify your Father Who is in heaven.”

A Close-Knit Family

A friend of mine once shared with me that when she was in school her father made a rule that all his children had to be home at dinner time so that the family could eat together. This was a hard-and-fast rule, and her father would not make exception to it. He was a very wise man, and this family was closely knit together.

Today there is serious communication breakdown happening in families. The needs of individual family members are not seen or being met. This is so sad, for it is dividing and weakening the strength of the family. Some of the culprits causing this are cell phones, i-pads, television and electronic games... but overloaded schedules are also a factor.

Children need to be taught the value of family closeness and not be caught up with other factors to the point of ignoring family relationships and responsibilities.

When families do not function in unity and no longer relate to one another, a part of the children's learning process is robbed away. They will not have a firm foundation on which to build their own families in the future.

Let family closeness be restored...

"Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!"
Psalm 133:1 KJV

Blessed Rest

In the quiet, in the stillness,
As I wait upon the Lord,
I feel all tensions slip away.
In times with Him I am restored.

My weariness is soothed away.
Deep within I am refreshed.
In Him I find tranquillity,
Peace and calm and blessed rest.

For such comfort in His caring.
I will thank Him all my days.
Because I know I'm never alone
My heart is filled with joy and praise!

"He leadeth me beside still waters. He restoreth my soul."
Psalm 23:2-3 KJV

"For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

A Bright New Season

We sometimes get weary in everyday patterns
And feel like we are not moving ahead.
The Lord may be nudging us... “Think about change”.
It just may be time for our wings “to be spread”.

We may have had growth while “standing in place”,
But now should move forward for very good reason.
When seasons are through, there’s naught left to do.
So we don’t bog down, we should try a new season.

We should welcome the “newness” when in this new day.
The Lord knows us well and knows our desire.
He leads us on to goals which are higher.
He is our Guide... to teach and inspire.

“You will show me the path of life: in Your presence is fullness of joy: at Your right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”

Rich Reward

No matter what your circumstance,
Ask the Lord what you can learn.
From what may seem quite difficult,
In God's sight merit you will earn.

When you choose to grow in Him
Your efforts will bring rich reward.
He'll add insights to your life...
His wisdom in you will be stored.

He'll take note of how you've grown
And turn your efforts for your good.
Lessons which you've learned in Him
By you will then be understood.

"For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;"

Joy And Refreshing

Lord, You are my hope and You are my joy.
In You I find strength which I can employ.
I will look up and I will rejoice.
I will sing praises with heart and with voice.

Why should I look down or just sit and mope,
Or wonder each day just how I will cope.
In You is resource which never will end...
So very much more than we comprehend.

I won't give gloominess even a glance.
The joy of the Lord is my chosen stance!
Your Word is a wellspring which I will explore.
In You is refreshing, new life and much more!

"The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth, and with my song will I praise him."

Treasures In Heaven

When we are young we think we need
A lot of things so we’ll succeed.
But what we have won’t make us grow
Or more important things to know.

Some folks pile up too much stuff
And never seem to have enough.
“Excess” clutters up their “view”,
And they don’t see what they should do.

Things and stuff become a weight,
And over time are not so great.
It’s better then to “travel light”
And not let “excess” block our “sight”.

“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

Stillness In Him

When your mind is all awhirl
With thoughts which just crowd in and swirl,
Seek the Lord for inner peace.
Be still until you find release.

"Overload" can steer you wrong
And sap your strength the whole day long.
Switching gears from "fast" to "slow"
Will give your day an easy flow.

When you give Him a listening ear,
Perspective then will be more clear.
Deep within He'll give you rest
And walk with you through every test.

"Be still and know that I am God."
Psalm 46:10 KJV

"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee."

Speak Softly, Walk Softly

Walk in softness, softly speak.
Let your presence soothe and heal.
Gentleness releases peace
And shows a caring which is real.

Willingness to pause or pray
May help another just to stand,
To feel self-worth and have some hope
And finish what they once began.

Hard times may have set them back
Or robbed them of their life's desire.
Through your caring they will heal
And to new heights they will aspire.

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance..."
Galatians 5:22-23 KJV

Priorities

When priorities are right, decisions are simple.
Direction is clear as to what we should do.
When they are wrong it may create havoc.
Those things which are prime, disorder may skew.

We should not ignore what we know is right,
And shortcuts won’t work... they just bring confusion.
Priorities in place will help us keep order
And bring all we do to a blessed conclusion.

“Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs and tries the hearts.”

The Word Within

When evil tries to enter in,
We must guard to keep it out.
When we see its sneaky guile
We should pull out every “sprout”!

We must not let it seed doubt
Or cause anxiety to grow.
We don’t need to heed that voice
Or let it push us to and fro.

When we know the Word within
Evil cannot find a door.
As it is filtered through the Word
It is exposed and is no more!

“For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power (making it active, operative, energizing, and effective); it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and (the immortal) spirit and of joints and marrow (of the deepest parts of our nature), exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and intents of the heart.”

A Simple Path

A simple path is truly blessed,
Sheltered from confusion’s test.
"Simple" has a clarity
Which guards our way and keeps us free.

Straying from one's path has cost.
Important purpose could get lost.
Distractions always "lie in wait"
And needless pathways generate.

When we pray the Lord wiil show
The pathway on which we should go.
His direction will be bright
And help us to have focused sight.

"He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake."

Peace On Earth, Good Will To Men

How much we need to speak “good will to men”
And pray for God’s peaceful indwelling again.
Let this be birthed in our hearts every day.
All of our deep, inner thoughts we should weigh.

Peace and good will must first be in me
To open my eyes and cause me to see.
I can bring hope and joy where there’s pain
Or offer some sunshine where there has been rain.

Peace and good will are a bridge to sweet healing...
An answer for people whose lives have been “reeling”.
The Lord will reside in peace and good will
And bring inner healing for many-an-ill.

“And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.”
Colossians 3:15 KJV

“For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us.”

A Child's Heart-Feelings

My mom is nice... the best of all!
She is there whenever I "call".
She seems to know most everything!
I love her lots! She makes me sing!

When I fall she wipes my tears.
She holds me tight when I have fears.
She cheers me up when I feel sad
And makes me laugh so I'll feel glad!

She reads me books I can't yet read,
And seems to know just all I need!
She and I have so much fun!
She's my friend... a special one!

A MOTHER’S RICH HERITAGE

By our actions and our faith
We leave a heritage behind.
The patterns of the way we live
In children later come to mind.

Righteousness becomes a banner
Held up high for them to see.
Love and kindness reaching out
Will spread and as pure gold will be.

We may never be well known,
And though we’re ordinary folks,
Through the patterns of our lives
Our children may become as "oaks".

“Her children arise up and call her blessed...”
Proverbs 31:28 KJV

Diplomacy Heals

Diplomacy is a wonderful skill
With deep sensitivity and much finesse.
It will not tower over another
Or use unkind words its point to express.

Its words are measured with kindness and care,
Spoken with thoughtfulness, having impact.
It will not wound or leave you in doubt
But works to heal feelings and keep them intact.

Diplomacy rules out confusion and angst
And works toward solution, well-being and good.
Oh, how much better the whole world might be
If diplomacy's wealth were just understood.

"Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath."

When God Shall Speak

Heavenly Father... Down in my heart I have a deep knowing
That You will soon move, Your sovereignty showing.
May all men bow down before Your great power
And worship Your name in this midnight hour.

When You shall speak, the mountains will shake.
Your voice will have “thunder”, Your people to wake.
Rise up, O God, with power and might
While it is still day and there is still light.

Let men everywhere be focused on You,
Bringing You honor so long overdue.
Let all men Your goodness and power proclaim.
All glory and honor be unto Your name.

“For great is the Lord and greatly to be praised; He is to be reverently feared and worshipped above all (so-called) gods. For all the gods of the nations are (lifeless) idols, but the Lord made the heavens.”

National Day Of Prayer

GOD MOST HIGH

Our foundation we must guard,
As winds of change are blowing hard
To try to shift us from our base
And Christianity erase.

Foolish are the men who try
To trample on our God Most High.
The great I AM, Whose truth will stand,
Just will not bow to man’s command.

But He is deeply moved by prayer
Of saints who intercede and care,
Who call upon His name to rule
And stand against all ridicule...

Worshipping in holiness
And bowing in all lowliness,
Standing guard for what is right,
Brightly shining through dark night.

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
II Chronicles 7:14 KJV

Knowing Truth

When we know the truth, we'll have a strong "border".
When we honor truth, our lives will have order.
But watered-down truth will bring disarray
And open our lives to fear and dismay.

We must be alert, the truth to discern,
And all of God's tenets to study and learn.
Let truth be our guide to chart a clear course,
To keep us from error and save us remorse.

Truth is our friend and will be our shield,
A very strong tool for our hand to wield.
Importance of truth we cannot downplay.
In it is strength we need for this day.

"If you abide in My word (hold fast to My teachings and live in accordance with them), you are truly My disciples. And you will know the Truth, and the Truth will see you free."

High Calling In Him

If we wish to reach "high places"
We must study, grow and learn.
Humility will lead us there
And Godly wisdom help us earn.

In the Lord we find our stance,
And then we start to make our climb.
The Lord may slow us down a bit...
To reach a high place may take time.

He perfects the steps we take
So we don't have the fear of falling.
As we walk with Him in trust
We will reach our highest calling.

"Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ."
Philippians 1:6 KJV

Looking Ahead

Wisdom says “always be looking ahead”,
For then you will know where your feet should tread.
Long-range perception will be as a light,
And far-sighted vision will save oversight.

We may be comfortable right where we are,
But times which are changing our comfort could jar.
We can’t shut our eyes and say, “I’m okay”,
Then be caught off-guard because we’re blasé.

Our God is faithful to lead and to guide
And give clear direction in which to abide.
Staying alert and listening prayerfully
Keeps us in touch so we will move carefully.

“Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent people), making the very most of the time (buying up each opportunity), because the days are evil. Therefore do not be vague and thoughtless and foolish, but understanding and firmly grasping what the will of the Lord is.”

Choices

Choices, choices, choices
Are before us every day,
And many voices try to tell us
What to do and say.

Wisdom's voice would say, "Beware.
Be careful what you hear.
The Lord may bring a better choice.
To His Word and voice adhere."

Choices which we sometimes have
May not be so very bad,
But may delay a better choice
Which would make us really glad.

When we seek to find God's path
And to find our very best pace,
We'll move forward as we should
And be covered by His grace.

Rejoice in all you learn in Him.
He will never let you down.
The wisdom which you find in Him
Will bring to you a golden crown.

Though many, many choices
Are before us every day,
Following in His special path
Will be life's most blessed way.

"Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent people), making the very most of the time (buying up each opportunity), because the days are evil."

By Example

Our "worldly" worth may not be much
Yet riches we can leave behind.
Those who follow in our steps
From our example wealth will find.

When we love and seek the Lord
He adds to us His special "treasure".
We have a heaven-blessed perspective
And wisdom in an increased measure.

Our faith will leave a lovely trail
And echo in some lives and hearts,
Prompting love and faithfulness,
And causing some to make new starts.

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."
Matthew 5:16 KJV

Kindness

We just do not know how much people suffer,
So kindness we show will be a sweet “buffer”.
If we can make a “needy” one smile,
Their pain will seem less... at least for awhile.

They may need to know that somebody cares.
You just may have given a gift unawares.
It’s amazing how laughter can change how we feel,
Can overcome sadness with warmth which will heal.

For folks who are wounded or crippled within,
Kindness will cause “repairs” to begin.
Kindness is golden... to others brings light.
It truly makes others’ lives to be bright.

“And be ye kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”
Ephesians 4:32 KJV

Patience Wins

Patience is a trying test.
We cannot learn it in a hurry.
It's not easy to "relax"
And trust in God instead of worry.

Patience saves us much "ado"
And teaches us to calmly wait.
For as we lean upon the Lord
He keeps us from a "frazzled" state.

Should our waiting be long-term
We learn to rest in God's embrace,
And we will find a deep dimension
Of His caring and His grace.

"My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing."
James 1:2-4 KJV
