A Holy Life

A holy life is set apart...
Is in tune with God's own heart,
Pays no heed to worldly norms
But to the call of God conforms.

Holiness will be a choice,
But one in which we will rejoice.
Godly standards lift us up
And are an "overflowing cup"...

Full of glory, full of praise,
High above the world's malaise.
When we seek God's holy face
We will find His holy place.

"But as the One Who called you is holy, you yourselves also be holy in all your conduct and manner of living. For it is written, You shall be holy, for I am holy."
Hebrews 1:15-16 KJV

Polished Arrows

When your spirit is in tune with the Spirit of God, you become as a polished arrow in the hand of God, accurate in trajectory and useful to accomplish God's purposes. Polished arrows penetrate darkness and bring light.

As one of God's arrows your "impact" may be through a word or an action, and you may or may not know you are "being aimed", but the Holy Spirit will cause you to hit the intended target. As you become a yielded vessel before the Lord and desire to be used of Him, He will cause you to have precision in all that you do.

What a blessing to be in tune with Him and be used by Him...

"And He has made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of His hand has He hid me, and made me a polished arrow; in His quiver has He kept me close and concealed me."
Isaiah 49:2 Amplified Bible

Beacons Of Light

God has been "preparing" certain individuals to become pillars of hope and encouragement in these days.

He is causing these individuals to have light, and people are being drawn to that light (but may not know why). He is gathering many to them, and in times of darkness they will be as beacons of hope and strength and peace in His name. They are representing His light and become encouragement to others because of who they are and what they stand for. They are being used of God to help others to stand and not give up.

"Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your Father which is in heaven."
Matthew 5:14-16 KJV

Let Prayer Break Forth

Let prayer break forth... let prayers be many.
Let freedom ring... for all and for any,
For freedom to worship, to sing and to praise,
To honor our God and voices to raise.

Let streams of truth flow forth every day.
Let worldly "bindings" all fall away.
Righteousness says to us, "Let there be light!"
Thus should we pray with all of our might.

If we will pray for freedom's great cause,
If we will worship and give God applause,
If we will stand and do what is right,
We are assured of a future that's bright.

"He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake."
Psalm 23:3 KJV

"The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.:"

Thank You, First Responders

Blessed is the "first responder"...
Who doesn't hesitate or ponder,
But rushes in to meet a need,
With selflessness to do a deed."

These are those with hearts to serve,
And heroes' honor they deserve.
In our sight, they will stand tall,
Some in memory, one and all!

When danger lurks and fires rage
With strength they rush to "center stage".
Today with gratefulness we pause
To bring them much heartfelt applause!

"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."
John 15:13 KJV

Being Alert

March 27, 2013

The times we are in demand new alertness,
Listening closely to hear the Lord's voice.
Being aware of what is around us
Will show us we carefully need to make choice.

Choosing to walk in a more focused manner
Is always good planning - a very wise measure.
Staying alert to hear God's direction
Will keep us in peace and be a great treasure.

We cannot see the dangers around us
But our God will steer us through wind and through "storm".
If we will listen and cling to Him tightly
He'll keep us balanced when things are not norm.

"Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise - sensible, intelligent people; making the very most of the time - buying up each opportunity - because the days are evil."
Ephesians 5:15-16 Amplified Bible

Burden-Free

Many folks have bondage...
Burdens which are hard to bear
Which we just don't talk about,
So a smile we wear.

Some have carried weights
Which have been there much too long.
Jesus Christ can lift them off
So once again we will be strong.

Jesus' healing picks us up
And gives us grace to start anew,
Free of all encumbrances
Which we may have gone through.

As we pray, in faithfulness
He will answer all our cries.
He will carry all our load...
No matter what the weight or size.

When we pray and trust in Him,
Oh, what freedom there is found!
Oh, what peace and joy we have
When we are no longer bound!

"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."
Matthew 11:28-30 KJV

Content In Him

God is our provider...
He provides for all our needs.
Don't compare yourself to others.
Don't let covetousness plant its seeds.

Praise the Lord for what you have
And be content in all you do.
In His timing He'll "promote" you
And show you what you should pursue.

He will never leave you...
Or cause your foot to go astray.
When you trust and wait on Him
He'll lead your steps from day to day.

"Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said 'I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.' "
Hebrews 13:5 KJV

A Lovely Flower

To grow a lovely flower
First you must prepare the soil.
Digging, weeding, fertilizing
Is quite a lot of toil.

Then once you plant or sow your seed
You water and you weed some more.
The tending of your garden
Can become a tedious chore.

But when your flower starts to bloom
And with fragrance fills the air,
Your labors bring you sweet reward
Of loveliness extraordinaire.

So it is in all we do.
Our preparation may not show.
But as we labor faithfully,
From our experience we will grow.

"The hand of the diligent maketh rich."
Proverbs 10:4 KJV

Boundaries

"Boundaries" are a very good thing...
A wise set of borders to which we should cling.
Boundaries protect us from others' intent
And guard us lest time is unwisely spent.

Having a boundary becomes as a shield
And keeps us from getting too far afield.
When we abide by what God has shown,
To problems and "fuss" we'll be much less prone.

Changes we carefully need to define,
And sometimes we need to draw a new "line".
Clear definition may save a high cost.
With God's precious wisdom, naught shall be lost.

"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."
Psalm 119:105 KJV

Choose To Be Happy

I will choose to be happy and bypass my "woes".
It feels good when laughter inside of me grows.
A bright frame of mind my woes will appease.
I smile more and fret less and feel more at ease.

Merriment has a healing effect,
And drives out those thoughts we should not collect.
For one solemn thought can lead to another,
And soon we can't think of anything other.

Happiness is a choice to pursue,
A quality which we should practice and woo.
It's not about things, but rests deep within.
And often it helps us to prosper and win!

"This is the day which the Lord hath made: we will rejoice and be glad in it."
Psalm 118:24 KJV

"A merry heart doeth good like a medicine..."

My Daily Prayer

Give me depth of understanding.
Help me learn Your wisdom well.
Help me to perceive Your truths,
That in Your presence I may dwell.

Darkness tries to cast its shadows
Over all I see and hear.
But by Your precious knowledge
My perception will be very clear.

Thank You, Lord, for keeping me
From traps and snares along the way.
I want to always walk in Light.
With my whole heart for this I pray.

"Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me; for thou art the god of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day."
Psalm 25:4-5 KJV

Be Free

When we are "injured" we walk with a limp.
Beware, lest the problem your spirit will crimp.
In difficult circumstance you can stay free.
The Spirit of God will bring liberty.

If you let "injury" linger awhile,
It robs you of peace and dampens your smile.
Your spirit is hindered and loses it's zeal.
Because of your attitude it will not heal.

No matter the problem or how you've been treated,
With God's Holy Spirit you are not defeated.
Rest in the Spirit and let Him have sway.
You will find victory and not go astray.

"Now the Lord is that Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty."
II Corinthians 3:17 KJV

Winds Of Change

The winds of change move things about
And sometimes cause us to have doubt.
If with God we are in tune,
From errors we will be immune.

Sometimes God will make a change,
Our lives to guard and rearrange.
Or He may be teaching us
Some lessons which will be a plus.

When we clearly hear His voice
And make His leading our first choice,
We are covered 'neath His wing.
When "winds" blow, to Him we'll cling.

"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."

An Open Door

What privilege to know the Lord
And be part of His flock,
To open the doorway of my heart
Whenever I hear Him knock.

Always He is welcome
To come in and to abide.
Darkness cannot enter in
Because my heart is occupied!

He fills my heart with love and joy
And overflowing peace.
In His presence all is well.
My blessings "swell" and have increase.

"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me."
Revelation 3:20 KJV

Wisdom And Balance

When we are young and full of much zeal,
It's hard to contain the fervor we feel.
We must be tempered with wisdom and thought,
Willing to listen and then to be taught.

More "letting go" and "letting God do"
Is the quickest path to gaining God's view.
He'll "send us forth", or He'll "hold us back"
Until we are wise enough to stay on track.

Fervor is great, but wisdom is better.
Wisdom will be our trusted "pace-setter".
God gives us balance and helps us mature.
In Him our footsteps are wise and secure.

"Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding."
Proverbs 3:13 KJV

A Contrite Heart

Before our great God we should be contrite,
Seeking forgiveness for errors we have made.
Don't wait too long to make wrong things right.
If we're not "current", we should be afraid.

None of us knows the length of our days,
And judgment may come when we don't expect.
Our God is forgiving... His love will amaze.
May all that we do His holiness reflect.

"The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."
II Peter 3:9 KJV

Light And Darkness

Be careful who you partner with
And who will be your friend,
For light and darkness do not mix,
Nor will they ever blend.

A "mixture" will be shaky ground
And won't have lasting peace,
For differences will lie in wait
And surely have increase.

Agreement is a constant strength,
A very healthy resting place,
A binding which will stay intact,
A worthwhile goal we should embrace.

"Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?"
Ephesians 6:14 KJV

Spring's Promise

Spring is as a breath of fresh air
Awakening all from winter's cold fare.
Spring holds the promise of hope and good will,
A blossoming future for us to fulfill.

Welcome it's freshness and fragrance and flair.
Move in it's rhythm, it's happiness wear.
When flowers burst forth and birdsong is sweet,
Rejoice in your heart, for spring is a treat!

Only our God could create a flower.
When spring makes an entrance, we're seeing His power.
Give Him the glory, His goodness declare!
Without His great beauty, our lives would be bare!

"O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!"
Psalm 8:9 KJV

New Hope In Him

Lord, Your children need strength, and many need rest.
In You we can stand and meet every "test".
Loose Your great power... to heal and save.
Shine forth in this hour to help us be brave.

You are our fortress, You are our guide.
You are our refuge in which we abide.
Help us, O God, to stand and not fall.
All of Your benefits we will recall.

Great is Your faithfulness. In You we hope.
In You we trust, knowing new doors will ope.
You are our healer, You are our song.
In You we can rise up and sing and be strong!

"Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation."
Psalm 68:19 KJV

"Bless the Lord, O my soul: and forget not all his benefits: who forgiveth all thine iniquities: who healeth all thy diseases, who redeemeth thy life from destruction: who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies: who satisfieth thy mouth with good things: so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's."

Handmaidens Of The LORD

(April 2, 2013)

The Lord is raising up His handmaidens across the land... gentle women who have quietly served and honored the Lord, and who will be worthy of great honor before Him.

They will stand strong in faithfulness and will serve with a pure heart. They will speak truth and be intensely aware of the move of the Holy Spirit.

These are women of prayer, undistracted by worldly cares, but devoted and excited in service to our blessed Lord. They will be a mighty army, moving with power and wisdom and insight wherever they are.

Blessed are His handmaidens as they walk among us.

"And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: and on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy."

Young At Heart

"Young at heart" is a good way to be.
Let smiles and gladness fill you with glee.
Merriment, laughter and light-hearted fun
Are not just for kids, but for everyone.

Look at the bright side... refuse to look down.
Forget what it's like to wear a sad frown.
Make it a habit to always add cheer.
Be a bright blessing to those who are near.

Laughter is healing... good health it will sow,
Making light-heartedness blossom and grow.
Fun is contagious... it brightens the day
And causes "the blues" to just go away!

"A happy heart is good medicine and a cheerful mind works healing..."

Pride Is A Waste

Pride and self-righteousness get us in trouble.
When pride blinds our eyes, our troubles may double!
"I will not do that", or "will not do this"
Will cause us to err and great blessing miss.

Humility opens our eyes and our ear
To see what is needed and God's voice to hear.
Humility breaks through tall barriers and walls
And brings healing measure where there have been "squalls".

Pride is a waste - so don't give it thought.
It surely will spoil things and bring them to naught.
When we should love, pride gets in the way
And causes our efforts to just go astray.

"By pride and insolence comes only contention, but with the well-advised is skillful and godly Wisdom."
Proverbs 13:10 Amplified Bible

"A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit."

The Fruit Of The Spirit

When the fruit of the Spirit is birthed in our heart
A very rich beauty our God will impart.
Our voice and our actions new softness will show.
Our smile and our countenance will have a warm glow.

The fruit will come in if we'll let "self" be last,
Forsaking the "patterns" we've had in the past.
When we submit our will to the Lord,
The fruit of the Spirit will be our reward.

We will be "tempered" in all that we do
And kind in demeanor, for we are made new.
When the fruit of the Spirit is truly desired,
By Jesus' own love we are truly inspired.

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law."
Galatians 5:22 KJV

Think About Jesus

Think about God's precious Son.
Contemplate what He has done,
Giving self to clear our shame,
In our place assuming blame.

Think about the love He shared
And just about how much He cared...
How He suffered and endured
So our salvation was ensured.

Think about eternity,
Of which He brought us guarantee,
Of Heaven's wondrous open door
And praising Him forevermore.

"And he is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world."
I John 2:2 KJV
