Blazing A Trail

When we're starting out anew
And begin to "blaze a trail",
Are we "taking land" for good?
Do our efforts have avail?

The direction of our lives,
When we've diligently planned,
Can make impact of great value
Which will matter and will stand.

We can change the world
By the way we live each day.
Our lives can make a difference
And help others find their way.

The gifts we leave behind
When our lives are finally spent
Are things we do for others.
May they be of blessed intent.

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."
Matthew 5:16 KJV

Think About Jesus

Think about God's precious Son.
Contemplate what He has done,
Giving self to clear our shame,
In our place assuming blame.

Think about the love He shared
And just about how much He cared...
How He suffered and endured
So our salvation was ensured.

Think about eternity,
Of which He brought us guarantee,
Of Heaven's wondrous open door
And praising Him forevermore.

"And he is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world."
I John 2:2 KJV

High Flight

When efforts seem to fail, and emotions feel quite tattered,
It's time to reconsider just how much the cause has mattered.
For sometimes we get wrapped up in the matters of each day.
Our goals get somewhat side-tracked and we bog down in the "fray".

Oftentimes the tears we shed are spent upon "the little things",
But if we're focused on our goals, we'll rise up with golden wings
And bypass o'er the daily snags with confidence and joy and hope,
Riding on the wings of faith and keeping vision with bright scope.

"Bumpy" paths are not a challenge if we keep our sights on high.
We can move with able steps and never have to wonder why...
Efforts may get scrambled or delayed or maybe even stopped.
We won't lose composure if for "high flight" we will opt!

"Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths. Lead me in the truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day."
Psalm 25:4-5 KJV

"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."
Isaiah 40:31 KJV

The Timing Of The Spirit

The Spirit doesn't linger where there is no longer purpose...

When we have an "assignment" from the Lord, or a goal to meet, and then we complete that goal, we should not just "rest" there. Immediately we should start to seek the Lord for His next "insturction". If we just "loiter" there and "rest on our laurels" we may miss the further moving of the Spirit. The Spirit will move to accomplish a purpose and then move on. To remain in the old place, once the Spirit has changed direction, is fruitless.

God will give us time to rest between "assignments", but He doesn't want us to be distracted away from sensitivity to His works and purpose. As we are focused in Him we will be able to move freely and respond to the nudging of His Spirit, not falling behind but always moving forward in His timing.

Lord, help us to be increasingly more sensitive to Your timing and movement. Help us to accurately discern that which You would show us in this hour. In Jesus' name, Amen.

"Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth; for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come."
John 16:13 KJV

Never Alone

Never alone... we're never alone.
We need not fear what may be unknown.
Jesus, our Lord, is constantly there,
Our worries and loneliness always to bear.

He is our friend, well able to fill,
All of those empty spots which feel so "nil".
He brings a fullness of gladness and cheer.
Always His presence is precious and dear.

With Him alongside, in peace we abide.
His loving hand will comfort and guide.
We cannot fathom the works He will do.
Worship the Lord! He makes all things new.

"How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings. They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures. For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light."

Much Good News

There is much good news to tell...
How Jesus came to earth to dwell.
Spread His message far and wide,
That many may in Him abide.

He gave all for you and me,
To save our souls and set us free.
Magnify His holy name.
Give Him glory and acclaim!

As we celebrate His birth
Far and wide throughout the earth,
May His love be birthed anew
And deep in many hearts accrue.

"And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord."

Merry Christmas

A GLORIOUS EVENT

Silent night, hallowed night,
Eastern star, shining bright,
A newborn babe, love profound,
Angels singing, Heav'nly sound...

Joyful tidings, Heav'n's good news,
Peace on earth, good will to muse,
Shepherds pond'ring distant star,
Worshipping in fields afar...

Quietly a great event,
Love came down... Heaven-sent,
The greatest gift we'll ever know,
Cradled in a manger low.

"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The prince of Peace."
Isaiah 9:6 KJV

Blessed Child

Lullaby, sweet Son of God,
As off to sleep You gently nod.
Slumber calmly, safe from harm,
Leaning on Your mother's arm.

Rest in peace... have sweet repose.
In her heart Your mother knows
You're the Son of the Most High,
One Whom men will glorify.

Baby Jesus, You will bring
Salvation to which men will cling.
You are Chosen, Blessed Child,
To reign as Lord... though You be mild.

"And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord god shall give unto him the throne of his father David."

A Tiny Spark... A Mighty Flame

A baby's birth... a tiny spark... would over time become a flame.
God's great love for all mankind the light of Heaven's hope became.
Jesus had no earthly comfort but was birthed in lowly place.
Man received a miracle of lovingkindness and of grace.

Let the flame of Jesus' love be fanned within your heart anew.
Let a holy fire burst forth and brightly burn in all you do.
Let it's light and warmth become contagious by it's healing balm,
Reaching out with new-lit flames, inspiring peace and joy and calm.

May this fire's sparks ignite, unquenchable and with great power.
Let salvation's fires burn with great new fervor in this hour.
Let our hearts be tuned afresh to know the warmth of Jesus' flame,
Remembering salvation's plan - the glorious reason why He came.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved."

The Good News

Once again our hearts make trek
To Bethl'hem town to pay our "dues",
Where history changed when Christ was born
And heav'nly hosts brought God's good news!

Once again our hearts will sing
As we are filled with bright new hope,
And worship God for Jesus' birth.
Through Him to us Heav'n's doors would ope.

Hallelujah! Worship Him!
He is Lord and He is King.
With chorus, bells, and harp and flute
Let all men adoration bring!

"And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."

Christmas Bells

In my spirit I hear bells
'Cause deep within me Jesus dwells.
So when the Christmas music swells
I hear pretty ringing bells...

Celebrating Jesus' birth,
Announcing good news, "Peace on earth",
Ringing in much joy and mirth,
Heralding again His worth.

Bell sounds ringing far and wide
In cheerful and melodious tide
Draw all men to come abide
And worship Jesus deep inside.

"And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."

Savor The Miracle Of Christmas

Christmas brings remembrance of God's plan for our salvation.
It's miracle of promise is a cause for celebration.
And yet we hurry to and fro... too rushed to give much thought
To that which is before us, to be reverent as we ought.

More than other times we should pause, reflect and savor
The marvel of God's faithfulness, His wondrous grace and favor.
Drink in all the beauty... stop to breathe in once again
The splendor and the essence of God's graciousnesss to men.

Christmas brings renewal as we ponder Jesus' birth,
But if we are too busy we may miss it's precious worth.
As we again receive all it's blessings and it's joy,
May we have remembrance... it's full meaning to employ.

"The Lord is God, Who has shown and given us light (He has illuminated us with grace, freedom, and joy)."
Psalm 118:27 Amplified Bible

Christmas Walks Among Us

One cold night long years ago
God sent His Son in a manger low.
This tiny babe would give His life
To free us from all sin and strife.

Today He lives, He's ever near
And by His Spirit brings good cheer.
Every place where we might go
He is there, His love to show.

We have Christmas every day
As in our hearts He comes to stay.
He brings gifts of greatest blessing...
The love of our great God expressing.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Sing Noel

Angel voices sing "Noel".
Sit and listen "for a spell".
They have good news they will tell...
How Jesus came to earth to dwell.

Angel voices heard on high,
Echoing across the sky
With beauty we cannot deny,
Entreat all people to draw nigh.

Heav'nly choirs their worship bring,
"Glory to the new-born King!"
Listen as the angels sing
And let their joy within you ring!

"And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord."

A Season Of Joy

Let Christmas once again unfold
The greatest story ever told
Of Jesus' birth, God's precious Son...
God's salvation plan begun.

Let His love spread far and wide
In a mighty, sweeping tide.
As gifting to the hearts of men,
Let His birth be told again.

Jesus came to make men glad...
The greatest friend man ever had.
Let us celebrate His birth
With adoration, joy and mirth.

"Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing."

A Christmas Voice

It's time to raise a Christmas voice.
With joyous sound, "Rejoice! Rejoice,"
As once again we celebrate
And Jesus' birth commemorate.

Hallowed is this special season.
Jesus really is the reason
Why we have a holiday
And God's great love again convey.

The Christmas message shall remain
And offer love and hope again.
God sent "Love" to everyone.
Meditate on what He's done.

Jesus was God's greatest gift,
Our lives to save and bless and lift.
Join with me and raise your voice.
Jesus came... Rejoice! Rejoice!

The Light Of The World

Jesus became the light of the world,
A message of hope, as a banner unfurled,
Given to man... God's ultimate gift
Of gracious redemption our stained lives to lift.

In Him is mercy. In Him is grace...
God's wonderful coverings in all that we face.
Jesus became the key to the door
Of heaven's bright gate and life evermore.

If we will follow, He'll show us the way,
Will fill us with joy and all fears allay.
Jesus became our path and our light
So we might have futures both holy and bright.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

The Song Of Christmas

Music permeates the air
As for Christmas we prepare...
A song that started long ago.
Listen for it's lovely flow.

Let a chorus brightly sing.
Hear the distant church bells ring.
Listen to the children's voices,
Singing as the land rejoices.

Let the Christmas music swell
And celebration come to dwell.
Deep within the hearts of men
Let Jesus' birth resound again.

"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."

The Real Christmas

The real Christmas isn't found
In presents from a shopping mall
And dashing back and forth in stores
For many items, large and small.

Jesus Christ is still the reason...
Christmas is His wondrous story.
He was God's more precious gift.
We should praise and give Him glory.

Jesus' name has been erased
From speech and courts and public schools,
But He still lives in many hearts.
He is Lord, and He still rules!

What a wondrous gift God gave,
Of love and joy and hope for all.
The happiness which Jesus brings
Cannot be purchased in a mall.

"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."

Lead Me, O Lord

Lead me, O Lord, and teach me Your ways.
I want to follow Your truths all my days.
Whatever Your call,
I give You my all.
My heart o'erflows with worship and praise.

Things of the world no longer excite.
They have no import before Your pure light.
Your call transforms
And changes all norms,
Bringing new purpose and goals which are bright.

Lead me, O Lord... there's no turning back.
In You is provision... there never is lack.
Your perfect niche
Will make my life rich.
My life will be worthy and always "on-track".

"Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me; for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day."

God's Touch Of Beauty

Color is a special gift... those reds and yellows, greens and blues,
Given to delight our lives with myriad tints and shades and hues.
We have a kaleidoscope of brilliance painted all about.
Of God's love and beauty we should never ever have a doubt.

If we picture everything in shades of white and black and gray,
How dull our lives would soon become... how weary, boring and blase'.
I am grateful for God's gifts... expression of His awesome love...
The spilling out of glorious beauty in the earth from Heaven above.

"O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!"
Psalm 8:9 KJV

"I wll praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works. I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High."

Christmas is coming! Christmas is coming!
It's time to remember our great Savior's birth...
A time of rejoicing, a time to bring praise
And celebrate Jesus throughout all the earth!

Let choirs make song and many bells ring!
Let music rise up in jubilant sound!
Let our Savior's birth be greeted with joy!
Let banners be drawn and worship abound!

Let the Good News be spread far and wide.
Magnify Jesus throughout all the earth!
Let all that we do in this wonderful season
Bring glory and honor and tell of His worth!

It Isn't Too Late

I will not consider that my work is done,
For a bright new adventure has maybe begun.
Every new day offers beautiful chance
To serve my dear Lord in all circumstance.

What could be richer than finding His will
And letting Him lead me to some bright, new skill?
If I am open He'll make "a new day".
He'll help me to write and His thoughts to convey.

Whatever my age, it just isn't too late
To serve my dear Lord and do something great.
All that I do I will do in His name.
It gives me great joy His love to proclaim!

A Christmas Tree

If I could be a Christmas tree,
The decoration you might see
Would be quite different from the norm,
Colorful and brightly warm.

My branches would be filled with light,
And I would shine both day and night
To tell of Jesus' wondrous birth
And speak His love throughout the earth.

For He gives ornaments of gold...
Love and peace which don't grow old,
Joy and hope which draw folks near
And offer Heav'n's eternal cheer.

With Jesus' beauty I could be
A vital, loving Christmas tree,
With lights and garlands which decree
The love of God for all to see.

A Door Of Hope

Jesus walked through pain and sorrow
So you and I can face the morrow.
We are not without great hope
Or left without a way to cope.

God reached down from high above
And sent His Son to show His love.
We will never be alone
Or need to fear what is unknown.

For Jesus stays right by our side.
In His covering we abide.
Jesus is the open door
To God's great blessings evermore.

"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: If any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me."

Richly Covered

Oh, the richness of God's covering
And His wondrous angels hovering...
In His matchless love profound
His mercy and His grace abound.

To find oneself beneath His wing
Is cause to make one want to sing,
Knowing He will ne'er let go
But faithfully His strength bestow.

His steady hand is ever there
To guide our way and burdens bear.
He becomes our guiding light
In gentle watchcare day and night.

To linger in His presence sweet
Is to find a joy replete,
A touch of heaven come to earth.
How rare this gift of priceless worth!

Beauty And Worth

If there be a touch of beauty
Or a thing which has some worth,
It is from the Father's hand.
It is He Who gave it birth.

Anything that we can do
Will only be a simple "gray".
But when we let the Father work
His handiwork He will display!

His touch upon that which we do
Will transform as from night to day.
He paints beauty everywhere
In generous and full array.

"And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us:
and establish thou the work of our hands upon us;
yea, the work of our hands establish thou it."

Reflections Of His Goodness

We should be collectors
Of the good things God would give
So we could bring example
Of the way He'd have folks live.

The myriad facets of His love
Are there for all to know.
As we worship at His feet
His gifts He will bestow.

His wisdom is a treasured prize
Within the heart to store.
His "fruits" are goals to reach for
And to live by more and more.

Always there is more to learn
And "nuggets" to collect,
In hopes that in our lives each day
His goodness we'll reflect.

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance..."

Tell The Little Children

Tell the little children of that night so long ago
When Christ was born in Bethlehem in a manger low.
Share with them that Christmas is a time to celebrate
The love of God for each of them... for them to contemplate.

"Christmas" has no purpose, apart from Jesus' birth.
It takes on worldly emptiness and doesn't have much worth.
Jesus is the center, and He gives us glorious reason
To share His love with others in this bright and joyous season.

"But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven."

A Christmas Blessing

Reach out with an open heart to those who don't have much.
Share with someone who has need and bring a warming touch.
It is far too easy to get busy and forget,
To overlook a real need and then have much regret.

Think of one whom you can bless... to whom you could bring joy,
A neighbor, friend or family, a little girl or boy.
Set aside some funds or time and offer them your best.
Giving is rewarding, and you both will be much blessed.

"It is more blessed to give than to receive."
Acts 20:35 KJV

Winter Warm

Gather up a harvest of good memories to store,
To warm your heart in "winter" when the rain and windstorms roar,
Memories of jobs well done and times spent with the Lord
Will be there in the "cold times" as a warming, rich reward.

It's good to meditate upon the good things God has done
And thank Him for the peace He gives and battles which were won.
Keep a "scrapbook" in your heart of treasures to review,
And draw strength from it's pages just to help you winter through...

Until the season finds repose and sunshine filters through,
And you can seed new harvests which you later will review.
Seasons come and seasons go, but autumn says "prepare".
Gather up a harvest which will counter winter's fare.

"Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons' sons."

God's Perfect Design

How many people storm through life, rushing toward their goals,
Laboring in hard pursuit to fill their chosen roles,
Never pausing to consider what the Lord might have in mind,
Missing precious gifts of God because they're simply "flying blind".

God delights in blessing us with many treasures still untold.
If we seek His chosen path we'll see these treasured gifts unfold.
His intent for every life is more creative than we know.
What a blessing to discover all the skills He would bestow.

We can be much more in Him than what we ever thought we could.
Our lives would be very different if His plans we understood.
Even now we can make change... it really never is too late.
When we're centered in His plan, our lives He will rejuvenate.

"Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in the book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them. How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God; how great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand..."

My Song Of Praise

Your mercy is greater than I comprehend.
On your love and grace I daily depend,
For I'm not complete except by Your grace.
With Your lovingkindness my life You embrace.

Heavenly Father, to You I bring praise.
With all of my heart my worship I raise.
Let my expression Your greatness proclaim.
All glory and honor be unto Your name.

"I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation. I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me."

Love's Good News

People by their love are known
When acts of kindness they have shown.
Love brings change which needs to come,
And though it may be just a "crumb",

Yet it brings a ray of hope.
A tiny door it might just ope.
And when the door is opened wide
Love's bright light is multiplied.

Tiny sparks of love when sown
Can make love's flame become full-blown,
Igniting even further fire
And acts of kindness which inspire.

Any lives which love may touch
Have chance to benefit by much.
May we by our love be known
For acts of kindness we have shown.

"And above all these (put on) love and enfold yourselves with the bond of perfectness (which binds everything together completely in ideal harmony)."

The Greatest Gifts

The greatest gifts of myrrh and gold
May just be found within the old,
Or covered in a tender child
On whom the Lord has gently smiled.

Hidden in the simplest places
We'll find Jesus' love and graces.
Age or status will not count,
Neither wealth of great amount.

Only through humility
Will we have chance to ever see
The gold that lies before our eyes
And God's great wisdom realize.

"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning."

In Little Things

In little things and times alone is when we tend to grow.
The way we handle little things our character will show.
What we do when we're alone and think no one will see...
These are things in which we're tested to a fine degree.

To sluff off or to weaken, or to do less than our best
Becomes the measure of our growth... it really is a test.
Little tests are good... they will stretch us to reach higher,
Drawing "finer" lines in us to which we should aspire.

Always we should welcome little tests the Lord would give.
Though they may be small, they will change the way we live.
That which seemed so litte just might later cause a fall.
Then we'll know the value of that test which seemed so small.

"For the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart."

A Song Of Thanksgiving

For abundance and for plenty
Let Thanksgiving songs be raised.
In expression from the heart
Let our God be warmly praised.

All we have is from His hand.
Let our worship freely flow.
Acknowledging His rich supply,
Let robust celebration grow.

He has poured out wondrous blessing.
Let us glorify His name
For His love and faithfulness,
Let us bring Him all acclaim!

"O come, let us sing unto the Lord: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let uus come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms. For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods."

The Echoes Of A Life

The echoes of a person's life reverberate through time
And leave a bank of memories which some may wish to mime.
Lives well-lived will leave a treasure, rich and of much worth.
In another person this rich treasure may find berth.

Imprint of the way we live may foster life in others,
Even some we do not know, in neighbors or in brothers.
Good example speaks it's message... we don't have to say a word.
By our actions over time our own echoes will be heard...

Ringing in the memories of some who have passed by
Who wish to change their lifestyle and our example try.
Life well-lived is never lost... it echoes on and on,
Passing on it's blessings as a valuable baton.

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."
Matthew 5:16 KJV

Green Pastures

When my thoughts are whirling 'round
And anxieties abound,
Your voice whispers, "Be at rest.
Don't get flustered, don't be stressed."

Deep within I feel Your peace.
Earthly weights and matters cease.
I am freed from "wear and tear"
As I'm in Your presence there.

I find treasure when I'm still.
There it is I know Your will.
You refresh my weary soul,
And by Your healing make me whole.

"He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul..."
Psalm 23:1-3 KJV

Jesus' Touch

The healing power of Jesus carries warmth and cheer and light...
Encouragement for all that ails... refreshing which is bright.
The healing power of Jesus can transform that which is worn,
Bringing new vitality and mending what is torn.

Jesus' touch is powerful and filled with love and hope...
Much beyond our comprehension, greater far in scope.
All that we release to Him will have a healed dimension.
Even of our smallest prayer He gives us full attention.

Many things we do each day may seem to work okay,
So we don't think to "ask for help"... for some things we don't pray.
Should we bring these things to Him, we may have huge surprise.
In Him ALL is better... all we do He beautifies.

"O Lord my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me."
Psalm 30:2 KJV

A Patchwork Quilt

Through the years if I save scraps and make of them a quilt,
The quilt becomes a decoupage of memories which were built.
Happiness and joyful times reside within the scraps.
Every little, special piece a memory recaps.

The quilt becomes a storybook of treasures pieced together,
A coverlet of life well-lived through many kinds of weather.
Some scraps may be poignant or may bring a tear or two,
But all the scraps are precious, and sweet memories review.

In the quilt are lessons which in life were taught and learned.
Of sweet rewards and victories which by diligence were earned.
A patchwork quilt has value rare which only will be known
By the life it represents... by whom it's threads were sewn.

Something Good

Focus on the positive. Speak a word that's bright.
Don't bog down in negatives which put nice thoughts to flight.
Always there is something good on which our thoughts could center
And paths of creativity on which our thoughts could enter.

Goodness brings perspective in the way we spend our day...
Happy in the good things, or grumpy and blase'.
The "weight" of daily problems we just do not need to bear.
We can lay our burdens down before the Lord in prayer.

Weed out all those "gloomy" thoughts and counter them with joy.
This will brighten up your day and cheerfulness employ.
Being filled with blessed thoughts becomes a simple choice,
Causing you to have a smile and deep within rejoice.

"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."

God Is Greater - Only Trust

God is greater than our sorrows.
In His hand are bright tomorrows.
He will author joy and hope
And lovingly new doors will ope.

If your faith seems wan and weak,
Or your "picture" looks quite bleak,
Draw upon His might and power.
Let Him be your strength and tower.

He is able, as we trust,
Our difficulties to adjust.
If in Him we will abide
He will be our strength and guide.

"Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth."
Psalm 124:8 KJV

"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."

Many Hats

How many "hats" we wear each day!
Some folks have a large array!
Some may "follow", some may lead,
Some may help or intercede.

Some explore and some create,
Some will sit and contemplate.
Some will watch and some stand still
As others change their "hats" at will.

Each "hat" has ability
And gives us versatility.
God's hats "fit" and beautify,
And He will give us rich supply...

"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."

A Soft Touch

A soft touch is better than "wars" we would wage,
A much wiser tool our fears to assuage.
Thoughtfulness, gentleness, calmness and peace
Oft will encourage all discord to cease.

Walking in peace will heal and soothe,
Causing our "paths" to be happy and smooth.
If we will choose to have a soft touch,
Rewards will be many and peacefulness much.

"And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful."

The Foot Of The Cross

If we are hurting or suffered some loss,
Our burdens are lifted away at the cross.
Provision is there through Christ's sacrifice.
For all of our "weights" He has paid the price.

The foot of the cross is a place of renewal.
When we are "worn" it is there we "refuel".
All of our weeping and shed tears will cease.
From all our tensions we'll find His deep peace.

This is the place Christ poured out His love,
Becoming our "door" to the Father's great love.
Pilgrimage daily to rest at the cross
Brings new life and healing for all of our loss.

"For the story and message of the cross is... the manifestation of the power of God."

A Lighthouse In The Darkness

The Lord is a lighthouse, where all may come in,
A refuge and shelter from pain and chagrin,
A warm healing balm for those who are weak,
Salvation and hope for lives which are bleak.

To those who question or have any doubt,
His light is sure and ne'er will go out.
When darkness comes and seems to surround,
Know that His light will always abound.

In Him are hope and safety and joy.
He'll give you peace as an anchor and buoy
To steady you through the storms you may face
And always to cover you with love's embrace.

"I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness."
John 12:46 KJV

The Whisper Of His Voice

The whisper of His voice in a quiet moment's pause
Cuts through what I'm doing and my attention draws.
Oh, what treasure, Oh, what joy... to realize and know
That He is always near to me, His blessings to bestow.

His caring never wavers and His presence is so real.
He is ever by my side, His guidance to reveal.
Should my footsteps weary or confusion cause alarm,
I can listen for His voice and lean upon His arm...

Trusting He will speak to me and cover me with peace.
The whisper of His voice brings such healing and release.
When I rest and give Him pause I know He will draw near.
In these times, as I am still, His voice is very clear.

"As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God."

Thanksgiving Time

Thanksgiving is a wondrous time
Of praise and celebration...
A season when we bow our hearts
In joyful adoration...

For blessings poured into our lives,
More than we can number...
Even for the air we breathe,
For life and health and slumber.

All we have is from God's hand,
Poured out in bounteous measure.
By His love and graciousness
Our lives are filled with treasure.

"By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name."

Winter's Call

Leaves are falling, winds are blowing,
Winter hastens near our door.
Autumn's hand is growing weary
From much colorful decor.

Winter's briskness issues call
With frosty windows, chilling breezes
'Fore it's snowflakes start to fall
And Autumn's duty softly eases.

Winter brings us to attention.
Snow may soon become the norm.
As she paints in white dimension
We are drawn to fires warm.

As the land is "wrapped" in rest
We'll give pause to praise our God.
He is worthy to be blessed
For times through which we've safely trod.

"It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: to shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night."

Veteran's Day

A SPECIAL CLASS

Veterans are a special class
Who give of self and far surpass
Ordinary daily call.
To guard our land they give their all.

Today we pay them high esteem.
May the Lord their lives redeem
From weariness and battle scars.
In our sight they're truly stars!

They have given us their best.
Heroes all, they've stood the test.
Precious are the ones who serve.
Highest honors they deserve.

Wondrous Healing Power

I call upon Your name for Your wondrous healing power,
For many folks are needy in this day and in this hour.
The promises within Your Word are vibrant, strong and real!
Should we not believe that You are able still to heal?

You are able to restore, refresh and make things new.
Many folks alive today are those whom You've brought through...
Folks who have been near death's door and simply could not cope,
But life itself is in Your hand, and where there's life, there's hope.

Miracles are near to us... we only need believe,
Leaning on Your promises... Your healing to receive.
You are strong and mighty. You're our refuge and strong tower...
The answer in our times of need... our God of love and power.

"Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: who forgiveth all thine iniquites; who healeth all thy diseases, who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's."

A Peace-Maker's Walk

A peace-maker's walk is humble and low.
Wherever he goes his prayers he will sow.
He looks at life through peace-loving glasses
And seeks God for wisdom to solve life's impasses.

He will move first when tensions are high
To break down tall barriers in those who deny
That they might be wrong or threw the first stone,
For in their denial they stand all alone.

He always moves in love... without threat,
To rebuild old bridges and save much regret.
He "settles" waters which deeply are troubled.
By his sweet actions God's blessings are doubled.

"Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God."
Matthew 5:9 KJV

Finding Right Answers

Sometimes the answers we need can't be found
Except in the Bible where great truths abound.
People try Google and buy many books,
But often in books there will be worldly "hooks".

Reading the Word and time spent in prayer
Will give fresh perspective and bring light to bear.
We do not have God's over-all view.
It may be different from what we would do.

He may detour us or e'en hold us back,
Save us from grief or getting off-track.
When we are sensitive to hear His voice
He will give answers in which to rejoice!

"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy paths."

Grace

When I'm "near-sighted" and coming up short,
Or through some failures Your purpose I thwart,
When I am weary and falling behind,
Your grace has waited, is patient and kind.

When I get busy and sometimes don't pray
And by my lethargy do not obey,
When I make error and simply am blind,
Your grace has waited, is patient and kind.

Grace is the bridge between us and our goals,
Helping us "reach" and fulfill all our roles.
Grace is our comfort... God's love defined.
His grace is waiting, is patient and kind.

"And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness."

The Door Of HIS Presence

Blessed are those who wait on Me,
Who hearken to My voice.
Blessed are those who find My rest,
Who deep within rejoice.

Many walk right by the "door"
And hurry on their way.
I long to spend some time with them
And speak into their day.

I am always waiting for
The slightest nod or smile...
Of fellowship with those I love,
To make their lives worthwhile.

I have sorrow as I watch them
Suffer pain and trial,
And ponder why they cannot see
They're living in denial.

As they rush along their path
They'll need Me more and more.
And I will be here waiting...
If they'll enter at My door.

"Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore."

You Are...

You are greater than our needs,
You're sufficient in our lack.
You are strong when we are weak,
You provide when times are slack.

You are covering when we fear,
You are comfort when we mourn.
You are joy when we can't sing,
You bring healing when we're "worn".

You are Master over all,
You are Giver of all grace.
Because You are our God,
We are safe in Your embrace.

A Man Of God

A man of God has stature which is gained no other way.
Inward strength and confidence his lifestyle will convey.
Love of God and wisdom deep within his spirit rest,
Tempered by humility... with peace in ev'ry test.

He has found his source of strength to be Almighty God,
And his feet in holiness and service have been shod.
From his bright example there is much which can be learned.
His life speaks of merits which in prayer he has earned.

He will meet the challenges and tests of life with joy
'Cause he makes the Word of God to be his trusted buoy.
Of God's richest treasures in the Word he has partaken.
He has placed his trust in God and he cannot be shaken.

"Blessed is the man... whose delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper."

Potpourri Of Worship

A potpourri of worship...
A mosaic of sweet praise...
Is created as we lift our hearts
And grateful voices raise.

What sweet savor to the Lord
When His people gather 'round
And offer sacrifice of praise
With overflowing, glorious sound...

Rising in the Heavenlies
To touch the Father's ear...
Precious offerings causing Him
To listen and draw near.

"But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel."

A Prayer For Election Day

May peace and order be the mark of this election day.
May all intent of evil come to naught and fall away.
Help our nation re-establish footing and foundation
And be, as was intended... a Godly, praying nation.

Cover us in these tense times. Let many see Your light.
For only by Your leading can our future path be right.
Let truth and wisdom be as banners, waving o'er our land.
This day we need a blanket of protection from Your hand.
In Jesus' name, Amen.

"Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance."

Wisdom And Prayer

If we haven't used good wisdom and prayed,
Most of our problems may be what we made.
Knowing God's plan will save us much time
And help us to reach those goals which are prime.

Wisdom will guard us from tangles and snares
So we can avoid life's worries and cares.
Time spent in prayer will "order" our days
And lead us with insights which "lift" and amaze.

That which we seek may have gilt and gloss,
But errors in judgment can create much loss.
Our God is faithful to help us discern.
When we're in prayer, His wisdom we learn.

"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

God Most High

Our foundation we must guard,
As winds of change are blowing hard
To try to shift us from our base
And Christianity erase.

Foolish are the men who try
To trample on our God Most High.
The great I AM, Whose truth will stand,
Just will not bow to man's command.

But He is deeply moved by prayer
Of saints who intercede and care,
Who call upon His name to rule
And stand against all ridicule...

Worshipping in holiness
And bowing in all lowliness,
Standing guard for what is right,
Brightly shining through dark night.

"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

One Step At A Time

God will never lead us to take steps when we're not ready.
Lovingly He oversees our "walk" to keep us steady.
In His perfect timing He prepares a goodly course,
One where we will prosper and will never have remorse.

As He leads and guides us we may sometimes have to wait,
But He will not forsake us nor will cause us to be "late".
He will add His wisdom till we're able to step higher
And reach the next objective to which we would aspire.

Skipping over certain steps could cause our plans to fail,
For if we're not prepared, this could make our footsteps "ail".
Always it is best to take just one step at a time,
Relying on God's leading for a sure and steady "climb".

"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."

Using Time Wisely

The thing which most people don't like to give up
Is some of their time... with Jesus to sup.
They will give money or share their possessions
But will not give time to deep intercessions.

Folks who are busy with schedules too full
Sometimes will shun the Spirit's soft pull,
Knowing they need to make some adjustment,
Yet are unwilling to make an "entrustment".

Placing our time in the hands of the Lord
Will create new order and bring us reward.
He will facilitate all that we do,
Redeeming our time so it won't go askew.

Time is a gift we can use as we may,
But we cannot hoard it for it flees away.
If we commit it to use for the Lord
It will have substance and bring good reward.

"See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil."
Ephesians 5:15-16 KJV

Old-Fashioned Goodness

How I appreciate old-fashioned neighbors,
Who reach out in kindness without thoughts of labors
Of doing for others and spreading good will...
Who reach out in love to those who are ill,

Who speak a good word where'er there is need
And offer encouragement by a good deed.
These folks are rich in kind-hearted living
And spread love and peace by sharing and giving.

They are like sunshine and rainbows of hope
To those who are down and can't seem to cope.
Praise God for neighbors who offer some cheer.
These folks, in God's eyes, are special and dear.

The Heartbeat Of God

Deep in your soul is God's heartbeat heard?
By His great love have you e'er been stirred?
His love is deeper than ocean or sea,
Boundless in scope for you and for me.

If you will listen, the sound will be clear,
Changing your life and drawing you near.
Then when His heartbeat becomes as your own,
No other sound will match what you've known.

His heart is tender toward those who will hear...
To those who listen and give Him their ear.
His awesome love, poured out from His heart,
Will change your whole world and new life impart.

Live Without Regret

Do good to others. Owe no man a debt.
Life every day so you'll have no regret.
Do what you know is the right thing to do.
In every thing to your conscience be true.

All of your actions will speak over time
And carry a message of "service" sublime.
Let the sum total of all you have done
Speak of God's goodness and victories won.

Bright Light

Lord, make of me a vibrant light,
A lamp which goes not out by night,
Bringing hope for each new day
To those I meet along my way.

Fill me with Your richest oil
To share with those who faint from toil,
The weary and the burdened folk
Who tread with heaviness of yoke.

May light in me illumine paths,
Retrieving souls from hell's dark wraths,
Guiding souls toward Heaven's store
Of rest, salvation, peace and more.

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

Lift Up Your Eyes

Lift up your eyes to the heavens above.
Worship the God Who poured out His love
To save us and rescue us from sin's dark toll,
Who gave His own Son that we might be whole.

All of our joy and hope rests in Him.
When we look up, our cares will grow dim.
Deep in our hearts new life will have birth.
There in His presence we find our true worth.

Our God is able to meet all our needs.
His mighty hand our lack supercedes.
Our mighty God is worthy of praise.
Let us look up and much worship raise.

Set Apart With Him

Sometimes when we feel "shut-in"
And circumstance seems not to change,
God is doing something good,
Our lives to build and re-arrange.

When we're "set apart" with Him
We should know He is at work.
Though we're anxious to "move on"
His timing we should never shirk.

As we fix our eyes on Him
Surely He will prosper us.
In His care we stretch and grow.
His timing always is a plus.

"The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord."

Anchored Faith

We won't have a worthy anchor
If for worldly things we hanker.
It's distraction is too much
Whene'er we get involved in such.

Having anchor in the Lord
And studying the two-edged sword
Will make us as a bulwark strong
Against the tide of evil's wrong.

Shakings, tremors, flood and wind
An anchored faith cannot rescind.
Those acquainted with God's power
Have safety in the darkest hour.

Should our days grow gray and dim
We will find true strength in Him.
He will answer when we call.
His strength is great when ours feels small.

Little Folks

A child can touch the heart of God
With just a tear, or smile or nod.
How God cares for tiny folks
And sees them as His mighty oaks!

He makes every child unique.
To each one His heart will speak.
They are precious in His sight.
He made each with great delight.

As they grow up and mature,
And their lives stay sweet and pure,
Surely they will be fine oaks...
These precious, gentle little folks.

A Time To Be Alert

The "land of the free and the home of the brave"
Is under assault from those who would waive
The tenets and freedoms for which we have stood,
Men with agendas which simply aren't good.

We must respond to this threat with great fervor,
Not just "stand by" and be an observer.
We can be praying for God's hand to move,
Men's tactics and schemes to quickly disprove.

Issues are clear as elections draw near.
We cannot sleep... our freedoms are dear.
Set out with purpose... good values to save.
Vote for God's best... our future to pave.

Morning Dew

God's blessings come down as dew in the morn,
Refreshing and goodness our lives to adorn.
Our God is great, and loving and kind,
And pours out His riches in gifts hand-designed.

Receive of His blessings... gather the "dew",
For each day has treasure designed just for you.
Taste of the freshness and savor it's "scent".
Breathe in it's fragrance... for you it is meant.

Don't waste the dew... each morning it's new
And holds special promise for you to pursue.
Gently it falls as we are at rest
And waits for our waking so we may be blessed.

God's love well-defined.
His grace is waiting, is patient and kind.

"And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness."
II Corinthians 12:9 KJV

Wisdom And Prayer

If we haven't used good wisdom and prayed,
Most of our problems may be what we made.
Knowing God's plan will save us much time
And help us to reach those goals which are prime.

Wisdom wll guard us from tangles and snares
So we can avoid life's worries and cares.
Time spent in prayer will "order" our days
And lead us with insights which "lift" and amaze.

That which we seek may have gilt and gloss,
But errors in judgment can create much loss.
Our God is faithful to help us discern.
When we're in prayer, His wisdom we learn.

"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
Philippians 4:6-7 KJV

A Quick Response

When God has given us a call to do a task, the time is now.
He may ask a quick response, for sometimes time does not allow.
For us to pause or lag behind, moving in "our old sweet time."
We could miss an open door when opportunity is prime.

When God shows us what to do, we can't say "later", but say "yes".
Though we may not understand, it's never good to "second-guess".
When He interrupts our path, praise His name, but do not chafe.
The very words which He would speak might even be to keep us safe.

The more we tune in to His voice, the more we can be used of Him.
Without His constant leadership our lives and futures could be dim.
Obedience is that wondrous key which keeps us balanced and alert,
Which causes us to grow in Christ and useless actions to avert.

"To obey is better than sacrifice..."

Keeping Promises

Keeping our word is a high aspiration,
And for those who do, give standing ovation.
Taking this lightly is just not of God.
Our word must be good and with truth be shod.

Promises given and then not fulfilled
Are only as chaff when fine grain is milled...
Meaningless words without good intent
Carelessly uttered but not really meant.

Words which we speak should always be weighed...
With careful attention and love be conveyed.
Words which are meant will never be broken.
Honorable words are more than a "token".

"For there is not a word in my tongue, but lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether."
Psalm 139:4 KJV

Joy And Refreshing

Troubles cannot get me down,
Rob my joy or make me frown.
In the Lord I am revived.
He gives peace where I have "strived".

He brings chaos into order
And adds cheer within my border.
He is greater than my woes,
So I'll not worry over those.

He will bring to me delight
And make each moment to be bright.
When His tenets I employ
He brings me continual joy.

"Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me."
Psalm 138:7 KJV

"But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head."

Autumn's Warmth

God has His paintbrush ready and His palette in His hand,
To brighten up the countryside and make it all look grand!
He'll splash His colors far and wide in autumn's bright display.
It seems He gives us extra "warmth"... enough for winter's "gray".

When cold sets in and earth will sleep, we'll have these memories
Of beauty from the Master's hand, our hearts and thoughts to please.
Drink in His great artistry to cheer and keep you warm.
Let it be a burning fire through wind and rain and storm.

Until He wakes the earth again with blades of green in spring,
Let harmonies of autumn's flair within your spirit ring.
Harvest beauty in thie time for store with your soul.
Forget not all God's benefits displayed in autumn's role.

"Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation."

Our Best Tool

Our greatest tool of love and peace is simply called the tongue.
Words of kindness which we speak can heal what is unstrung.
Through wisdom does the tongue become an instrument of peace.
It issues forth sound words with calm and causes stress to cease.

Emotions cannot rule a tongue or it will surely fail
And cause a situation which is weak to further ail.
Wisdom "puts the brakes on" us and tempers what we say,
Guiding us to weigh our words and not cause further "fray".

Tongues of wisdom move in love and mediate with skill,
Overcoming hindrances and sponsoring good will.
By the Spirit of the Lord we learn to use this "tool".
As we practice kindness, cheer and love and peace will rule.

"The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips."
Proverbs 16:24 KJV

"In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that restraineth his lips is wise."
Proverbs 10:19 KJV

Helping Each Other

Helping each other and working together
Will help to get through hard times or "bad weather".
Bonded in purpose and joined hand to hand
Makes us much stronger and able to stand.

Man cannot stand alone in a "storm".
And, should he try, how would he stay warm?
He will be strengthened by others who care
And come alongside to cheer and to share.

Back a few years our grandparents knew.
Helping each other is how they came through
Seasons of hardship, labors and toil.
Their reaching out became as sweet oil.

"Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others."

God's Stitchery

I work on counted cross stitch painstakingly with care
To make sure every stitch I take will have a certain flair.
For each stitch is important and will add a certain hue,
Combining lovely shades of thread with colorful debut.

If I skip a stitch or two, or use wrong-colored thread,
My design will not be right but have some flaws instead.
I try to make my thread lie smooth, avoiding loops and tangles.
Then my work will have a special touch from different angles.

Oh, that I might serve the Lord with this same carefulness
And follow what He has for me with diligence and prayerfulness.
My life has "tiny stithches" which, combined, become His story.
Let me be a finished work which brings Him praise and glory.

Upward Bound

Lord, let my thinking e'er be upward bound.
There in the Spirit are treasures profound.
Let me rise higher until I am "caught"
Where heavenly riches will fill all my thought.

Let me partake of the Spirit's rich flow
And my understanding be opened to know
All of Your purpose and broader dimension.
Help me, O Lord, to have comprehension.

Lift me, O Lord, up to Heavenly places
Where I may taste of Your spiritual graces
Until that day when I finish life's story
And enter into eternity's glory.

Guarding Against Error

We may not be aware when an error has come in,
And as we go along, then some problems will begin.
At the time it happened it may not have been discerned,
But from that point of error a good lesson can be learned.

Quickly we should backtrack and ask God to make "repair".
He will give us aid as we seek His face in prayer,
Restoring us and guiding us, our errors to correct,
Redeeming time we may have lost, our pathways to perfect.

"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."
Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV

The Love Of God

"Though our prayers be long and many and our prasies be on high,
Words will ne'er encompass God's great love... they just fall shy.
Man's perception of our God is miniscule at best.
We can't grasp or fathom all the ways in which we're blessed.

But when we practice His command to always love our "brother",
To reach out with a caring hand in helping one another,
We have touched His very heart... this God we so revere.
He takes notice of that love and hastens to draw near.

None will ever match His lovingkindness and His grace.
Nothing else we know in life His love can e'er replace.
God is o'er all heav'n and earth, and yet He is our friend.
All throughout eternity His love will never end.

"Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God..."

A Fresh-Flowing Stream

The Word of the Lord is a fresh-flowing stream
From weariness, burn-out and "wear" to redeem.
Here is refreshing from which we may drink
To strengthen, encourage and keep us "in sync".

It's cooling waters relieve heat of battle
And quiet the sound of enemy "prattle".
We are renewed and regain our peace.
Here from anxiety we find release.

Reading and speaking and living the Word
Becomes living waters, our lives to engird.
Here we can find oasis and calm.
The Word is a river with sweet, healing balm.

"Quicken thou me according to thy word."

Signs Of Autumn

Painted hills and brisk, fresh air
Are pleasant signs of autumn's flair.
She gives us her very best
To ready us for winter's rest.

Autumn brings us change of thought
From summer's end and harvests brought
To cozy evenings by the fire,
Books and good times which inspire.

Autumn has a special duty...
She reminds us of God's beauty!
When she shuts her door to rest,
By these memories we'll be blessed.

"The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord."

Be Contagious

Have you ever noticed how, when another person is enthusiastic or excited about something, their joy rubs off on you and it is good to be around them?

I walked into church one morning and greeted a young man, asking him how he was. He answered me with, "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits" (Psalm 103:2); and, "Let everything that is within me bless His holy name!" (Psalm 103:1).

The Scripture was flowing out of Him as a river of living water, and it impacted me. He was greeting people with the Word! My spirit immediately came alive, and I began to rejoice. What a moment! He was on fire, and the Holy Spirit was fanning the flame.

Be contagious for Jesus! Spread His joy around. Let His joy spring up within you and splash out on others! Be as a spark which lights a fire and, as on a prairie, let your spark be fanned into a mighty sweeping fire for God.

Fan the flames of the Good News of Jesus!

Too Many Distractions

The enemy wiill use distractions
To detour our thoughts and actions.
He makes noise and gives us flack,
Our goals and focus to set back.

He will fill our time for us
If we listen to his "fuss".
If we try to do too much
Then we hurry and "lose touch".

God will give us certain goals
And define for us our roles.
When we focus just on Him
We'll avoid distraction's whim.

The Fruit Of The Spirit

Our bodies by God's loving hands were designed
And prosper in health when with Him we're aligned.
We are not built to house anger and rage,
Yet some folks in anger unwisely engage.

Because of this problem so many are ailing.
Even, in some cases, health may be failing.
Ire undermines our health and destroys,
Robbing us daily of God's wondrous joys.

If we are filled with the Spirit's good fruit,
Then love and forgiveness all rage will dilute.
Do not let anger take root in the heart.
Let love, joy and peace blot it out at the start.

"Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage."
Galatians 5:1 KJV

"But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law."

Quiet Balance

We sometimes get so caught up in the schedules of the day
That we forget to celebrate God's goodness in our "way".
When we have too much to do and hurry to and fro
We lose quiet balance for a long day's ebb and flow.

Measuring how much our load and spacing out it's weight
Will help us to avoid having too much on our plate.
Making place throughout the day to "listen" and to pause
Allows us to have insight and to give our God applause.

We may labor very hard to get a day's work done,
But somewhere in that busy day should pray and not just "run".
Precious moments spent with Him refresh and keep us free.
Renewing quiet balance is the answer and the key.

"Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin."
Matthew 6:28 KJV

Diligence Wins

In each endeavor which we make,
Will it stand or will it "quake"?
We must spot if it be weak
And guard against the smallest "leak".

If we have a weakened link
Then our plan we should rethink.
Stronger links may even fail
When weak links falter, break or ail.

Tiny leaks can cause a "drain"
And sap away what should be gain.
Left untended they become
An outlook which can be quite glum.

Diligence and oversight
Will remedy and set aright
Hidden weakness, "leaks" or flaws
Which could defeat our plan or cause.

"The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want."
Proverbs 21:5 KJV

A Bright Pathway

Know if you are weary
And the outlook seems quite dreary,
In the Lord you have bright hope.
He is there new doors to ope.

When you bow and make appeal,
By His grace He will reveal
All the answers you will need
And refresh you to proceed.

He will never leave your side.
In His peace you may abide.
He will hold and pick you up
And with joy will fill your cup.

Do not be discouraged.
Look to Him and be encouraged.
He will add to you His light
And will make your pathway bright.

"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."

Eternal Life

If we've not lived for Jesus, when all is said and done
Our many works won't have much worth... No, not even one.
What we do in Jesus' name has heavenly import.
Oh, what blessing we have when the Savior's love we court.

If we've accepted Jesus and at His table supped,
And stored up many treasures where rust does not corrupt,
We have hope of great reward forever through eternity.
Blessed life with our dear Lord... what more wondreous gift could be?

"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand."

Counsel Of The Word

The counsel of the Word is a safe and balanced way
To sort out all our problems and to save us much dismay.
When we don't have answers, seeking counsel is as gold.
Then the answers which we need will carefully unfold.

Prudent thought and wisdom help to make direction clear,
Avoiding traps and obstacles which sometimes could appear.
How much time and money and unhappiness we save.
For counsel from God's precious Word will all our pathways pave.

You shall reign eternally

No Bugs!

Lord, why did You make insects
And creepy, crawly critters?
Things with wings and bugs with webs
Sure give me shakes and jitters!

I know birds need bugs to eat,
But sometimes bugs like ME.
And little bees make honey sweet,
But since they sting, I flee!

When I sit out on my deck
Mosquitos share my quiet space.
I'm afraid I do not show them
Welcome, caring, love or grace.

And little ants scout out my kitchen,
Looking for some food.
Patience flies right out the door.
To them I am quite rude!

There are moths who like to chew
A hole in things I wear.
I don't buy my clothes for them...
Not for them to share!

I might like a lady bug,
To bring me some good luck,
But mostly don't like crawly things.
They make me nervous. Yuck!

The Peace Of God

Your peace in the midst of "noise" is astounding...
A "bubble" against all which is confounding.
Your peace "adorns" and softens and cheers,
E'en when disruption threatens with fears.

Your peace becomes the voice of the moment
To guide us and help us receive Your bestowment,
Enabling us then to move with great ease
And handle confusion with calm expertise.

You are the peace which gives us retreat.
You bring the wisdom to make us complete.
Your peace comes forth in ample amount,
Sufficient our problems to always surmount.

Sifting The News

When you hear a news report
And sense that truth it will distort,
Sift the "grain" out from the chaff,
For truth is sometimes less than half!

Measure what is true and just,
For all you hear you cannot trust.
We must be alert and wise
And able to discern white lies.

Righteousness must be the rule
When media brings ridicule.
We must stand for truth and light
Lest darkness lead us into "night".

Seedtime And Harvest

Good seeds we have planted over time and through the years
Will surely bring a harvest of rejoicing from our tears.
As we sow our labors and our prayers unto God
We can know His faithfulness is more than just a "nod".

For He will count our labors and will bottle up our tears,
Will fill us with His strength and give joy amidst our fears.
Good seeds which are sown may lie dormant for a time,
But then will find fruition as a precious paradigm.

Sowing is a pleasant task, of which we should not tire,
With promise of a harvest, to which we should aspire.
Harvest time is glorious when we gather up our grain,
For God was there amidst our fields, our labors to ordain.

"He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him."

Autumn's Gift

Autumn has a splendid style.
Again she brings her dazzling smile,
Splashing color to and fro.
Joyfully she makes her show!

She has beauty all her own.
Her color palette is full-blown.
Brilliant orange and flaming reds,
Glowing golds and copper threads...

Appear on hillsides far and wide,
A lavish showcase to provide.
Autumn gives her glorious best,
And once again we are so blessed!

It seems she tries to bring us cheer
Before the snow-clad time of year.
She will leave a warming glow,
God's love and caring to bestow!

Pray Much

Pray and pray, and then pray much
Against men's evil ploys and such.
For some would tear down what we know
And cause our country to bend low.

We cannot afford the cost
Of all our freedoms being lost.
We, in prayer, can turn this tide
So we in safety may abide.

The hour has come, and it is late.
In prayer we must concentrate,
Bowing down before our God,
With deep repentance being shod.

God is able to defend.
On Him we wholly must depend.
Out of heartfelt desperation
Ask our God to save our nation!

"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

On Eagle's Wing

The eagle rises in the wind
And seems to glide with ease.
The power in his practiced wings
Great majesty decrees.

There is none to equal
The great skill with which he soars.
Sweeping upward through the sky
The heavens he explores.

God has promised us as much,
That we too would have power
To mount up as with eagles' wings,
E'en in our weakest hour.

"Waiting" on our precious Lord
We find new strength each day.
We become as eagles
And we mount up as we pray.

"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."

Wisdom Through The Years

Being "old" is not so bad... "living" gives a clearer view
Of that which is important and of all that we should do.
Wisdom and experience only gather through the years,
And become a reservoir of wealth which guides and steers.

Young ones have good energy... for causes they will fight.
Sometimes when they labor hard, they use up strength and might.
Useful insights they will gain from what they have been through.
They will have perspective which is "opened up" and new.

Through the years are lessons learned in how to wisely live.
As we understand God's ways much wisdom He will give.
Even then, when we are old, our God is faithful still
To guide and teach and show us and to add to us new "skill".

"The glory of young men is their strength, and the beauty of old men is they gray head (suggesting wisdom and experience)."

The Searchlight Of God

God is pressing in and is shaking all that shakes.
His light is on His people... a clear call to truth He makes.
There can be no shadow as His searchlight makes it's call,
For He will touch His people out of mercy, lest they fall.

Truth will be the judge and will pinpoint error and sin,
Cleansing and exposing what is hidden deep within.
If His people bow and will seek His face this day,
God will bless and keep them from the shakings and the "fray".

Do not be alarmed at the shakings you will see.
Pray for light and truth to set all His people free.
Thank God for His mercy as these shaking times appear.
Truth will lift it's voice to all or any who will hear.

"Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the Lord. Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens.,"

A Forgiving Heart

The cost of unforgiveness is an aching, ailing heart,
A malady which penetrates and pricks one as a dart.
The torment grows in size o'er time and robs deep joy and peace,
Bringing illness and despair, causing love to cease.

Jesus Christ forgives us of our actions and offense,
So we should practice to forgive, to lay down our "defense",
Praying for each other as the Lord would have us do.
He will lift our "woundedness" and heal us through and through.

Oh, what happiness we have when we lay down our "woe".
As we love, and do not hate, His healing waters flow.
Jesus prayed, "Forgive them, for they know not what they do",
Even when He knew that He would die for me and you.

"Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do."
Luke 23:34 KJV

"For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."

Soaring Above The Storm

Do you rise above the storm,
Reaching heights beyond the norm?
Do you see with distance vision
And with well-thought-out precision?

Storms of life will come and go,
Buffeting us to and fro,
But when the storms are come and gone,
Do you soar, or are you wan?

God is with us in the storm,
Our lives and thinking to transform,
Lifting us to greater height,
Greater wisdom to ignite.

"He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still. Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven."

Power Over The Enemy

The enemy studies to set his sly traps
And hides his intentions in enticing wraps,
Trying to sidetrack or spoil or devour.
But he is no match for God's holy power.

God will expose his wiles and deceit.
God is our tower, our strength, our retreat.
There we abide and always return.
There we find wisdom and power to discern.

As we are focused, with eyes on the Lord,
Using the Word, His two-edged sword,
We can avoid the enemy's ruse.
By "living" the Word, his plans we diffuse.

"Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world."

The Measure Of A Life

If a life could be reviewed, what would be the sum of it?
What would be the greatness which to others would bring benefit?
Let us leave an imprint in the lives of those we touch,
To be a light for Jesus to those He loves so much.

Life cannot be measured in the confines of the mind,
But through our service to the Lord are riches left behind.
And these become a a reservoir which can be drawn upon
By many who have known us, even after we are gone.

If a life could be reviewed, what should be the sum of it?
What should be the greatness which to others would bring benefit?
Let our lives be worthy and bring blessing to the Lord.
For this we are created, and in this is great reward.

"Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves."
Psalm 100:3 KJV

A Blessed Day

Draw nigh unto the Lord in the stillness of the morn.
Let His sweet tranquility your heart and thoughts adorn.
He brings beauty to each day beyond what we have known
And reassures us He is there... we will not walk alone.

Stride by stride He takes us through the "hurdles" of the day.
With love and joy and peace He protects us from the "fray".
We can be serene and have joy in all we do,
For He gives us perspective and the strength to carry through.

And when our day is done we have quiet and blessesd calm.
His presence has been with us as a helpful, soothing balm.
When He walks beside us every day will be A-One.
We can rest in stillness and be glad for what He's done.

"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee."
Isaiah 26:3 KJV

"In thy presence is fulness of joy."
Psalm 16:11 KJV

Let Freedom Ring

Freedom comes at fearsome cost
And must be guarded, never lost.
Men have suffered, bled and died
That we in safety may abide.

Evil battles for control.
Ungodly men it would enroll
To serve it's own agenda thus.
Let us pray it not touch us.

March in prayer and rise up strong!
Firmly stand against this wrong!
Let our cries be loud and clear,
That our nation God might steer...

Around these dangers, toils and snares.
May God rule in these affairs,
Lest we drink the cup of sorrow
And not have freedom for the morrow.

"I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; for kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty."
I Timothy 2:1 KJV

The Waters Of The Spirit

The waters of the Spirit, which are pure and crystal-clear,
Will wash and cleanse within our hearts until we shall appear
As spotless and with robes of white before our precious Lord.
Eternity with Jesus Christ is Heaven's blessed reward.

Holy Spirit, wash us now of all our spot and stain.
Wash away the "cloudiness" of that which is mundane.
Let no haziness remain... no shadow or no doubt.
Make us pure and holy. Cleanse us, Lord, inside and out.

"Search me, O God and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: and see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting."
Psalm 139:23 KJV

The Lord Is Our Help

God picks us up when we're flat on our face
And cushions us gently with mercy and grace.
He sees our needs when we are bent low
And pours out compassion, His love to bestow.

We cannot fathom the depth of His caring
But know He brings help when we need "repairing".
He is our comfort in times of real need
And fills us with strength so we may proceed.

We can rise up from fear and despair
And make a new start because He is there.
He restores hope and brings us great joy.
Always He saves us... He is our buoy.

"I will lift up mine eyes unto the hlls, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth."
Psalm 121:1-2 KJV

Seasons

Summertime is near it's close
And autumn hastens near our door.
It's time to think of season's change,
For lazy summer days are o'er.

Autumn, dressed in brilliant color,
Paints the world with new dimension.
(Until she has to look ahead,
And to winter pay attention.)

Autumn is a glorious time,
Reminding us of myriad reasons
Once again to worship God
For His watchcare through all seasons!

Prayers

Prayer knows no distance,
But reaches 'cross the miles,
And comes as soothing, healing balm
To ease our daily trials.

Prayer changes circumstance
And really isn't bound.
When we rest within it's arms
God's healing is profound.

Prayer brings God's healing touch
And ushers in sweet heav'nly sphere.
Oh, what comfort, Oh, what peace,
As God replies and hovers near.

God pours out His lovingcare
And fills us with His joy and peace.
When we speak a heartfelt prayer
Graciously He brings release.

"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."
Isaiah 40:31 KJV

Time To Think

Our minds and our thoughts are under assault.
To noise and confusion we must call a halt!
The core of the problem is daily TV.
Turning it off may be the best key.

We should protect our minds from it's threat.
When we have quiet our minds will "re-set".
Then we will realize what TV does.
It keeps us from God by it's constant "buzz"...

Consuming our time so we do not think,
Making us weary till we're out-of-sync.
Wisdom would tell us that we are not free
If we always sit in front of TV.

"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."
Philippians 4:8 KJV

He Is My Peace

I don't wish to be where I am just tolerated.
But I take comfort... in Jesus I'm celebrated.
I can walk tall
For He is my "all".
Always in Him my spirit is liberated.

When things in life become just too complicated,
And all of the factors in Him are well-contemplated,
He gives me peace
And I find release.
By His gentle hand I'm covered and "insulated".

He shows me beauty, more than anticipated.
He is my righteousness... in Him I'm venerated.
I am made whole.
He enriches my soul.
Always to Him my life will be consecrated.

"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."
John 14:27 KJV

True Wealth

There are so many who just live to "get",
And, in their "getitng", they worry and fret.
Labor is good to meet daily need,
But "getting" and hoarding have symptoms of greed.

Wealth can be empty, and houses don't speak.
Money can't buy the joy which we seek.
True wealth is found in sharing and giving.
This is the secret to beautiful living.

All that we give our God will return
With much bigger blessings than we could earn.
He multiplies the work of our hands.
In Him we have wealth to meet life's demands.

"But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work."
II Corinthians 9:6-8 KJV

Grandma's Quilts

It is fascinating to me... how my grandmother would save remnants and scraps of fabric and then sew them together to make beautiful quilts. The scraps were small and not useful for any other purpose, and yet became part of a beautiful design because of her diligence and her careful stitchery. Her quilt-tops were not stitched together by machine, as today's quilts are, but were carefully stitched by hand with a blanket stitch in a lovely "decoupage" of colors and prints. She did not let any scraps of fabric go to waste.

I am reminded of her lovely quilts when sometimes the pieces of my life feel scattered and there seem to be remnants here and there which don't fit together. I have gone through seasons where everything was in scraps, and it seemed that all possibility of putting them back together was gone.

But God doesn't look at it that way. He will gather up every scrap... and even find some you have lost. Then, with great love and caring, He takes these pieces and starts to create beauty where there was nothing, or where there was a mess. He creates a new "quilt" with lasting beauty, and His handiwork is strong and enduring.

I hsave learned that His love and caring are as a coverlet over my life in every season.

"For he hath said, 'I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee'."
Hebrews 13:5 KJV

Growing In Him

In the Lord we stretch and grow,
Our understanding to expand.
Wisdom comes from meeting challenge
Given from the Lord's own hand.

God does this His love to show,
That we might rise to higher planes.
All His "teaching" is divine
And causes us to have rich "gains".

If we walk His chosen path
And do not shrink from His own plan,
We will grow in revelation
Which cannot be matched by man.

"Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her. She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee."
Proverbs 4:7-9 KJV
