Let Hope Rise Up

In this new year let hope rise up
In faith that God will fill our cup.
We need not feel we're all alone.
He is faithful to His own.

In our walk He hovers near,
He lends to us His listening ear.
With eyes on Him we will not fail.
By His strength we will prevail.

We'll meet our challenges and goals
And fulfill all our needed roles.
With hope in Him we will have joy.
Our hope will be a constant buoy.

"I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope."
Psalm 17:8-9 KJV

"For the joy of the Lord is your strength."

Living On The "Up-Side"

If many pathways you have tried
And felt your footsteps start to slide,
Ask the Lord to be your guide.
On stable ground you will abide.

He will make your footsteps sure
And save you from a path that’s poor.
You’ll not need to make detour.
The path He gives will be secure.

To the “down-side” say “Farewell”,
For on the “UP-side” you will dwell.
Your life will truly start to gel.
The Lord will cause you to do well.

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
Psalm 119:105 KJV

Reach Higher

When my grandson was just a toddler, he found some plums on the ground which had fallen from a flowering plum tree. He knew what plums were and wanted to eat some. We told him, “No, these are the kind that birds like to eat.”

He stretched his little arms upward with his hands full of these small plums and called, “Here, birdie, birdie. Here, birdie, birdie.” But the birds were high in the trees and did not hear him. Finally, with a big sigh, he dropped his little arms and said, “Can’t reach. Can’t reach.”

As adults, I think sometimes we are as this little child. We may have a goal to reach, or a special calling. We give it a try, realize it’s too hard to do, and we give up. But we shouldn’t quit, because through the grace of God we can reach higher than we think. And through prayer we can overcome obstacles in our way. He will strengthen us to accomplish what we thought we could not do.

Believe in Him. Trust in Him. And in His timing, God will make a way...

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
Proverbs 3:5 KJV

A Messenger Of Cheer

Choose to bring someone some cheer.
To another speak of hope.
Encourage others to look up.
Cause some doors of joy to ope.

Be a spark of happiness.
Stir up gladness everywhere.
Be contagious in your joy,
A flame of love and warmth to share.

Should you yourself be feeling down,
Make a choice to be as “sun”.
God’s reward will lift you up
If you have even touched just one.

Laughter heals, joy is bright,
On dim days bringing sweet release.
As you are faithful to spread cheer
Your own joy will have increase.

“May the God of your hope so fill you with all joy and peace in believing (through the experience of your faith) that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound and be overflowing (bubbling over) with hope.”

A Bright Dimension

In each of us God will do a good work,
But first He must get our side-tracked attention.
He may be trying to bring about change
And lead us into a bright new dimension.

The more sensitivity we have to His will,
The more we will know His path and design.
What blessing to feel His touch on our life.
What treasure when we with His leading align!

Trusting in Him we'll learn how to "soar"
As the riches of God we mine and explore.
We'll see with new eyes and hear with new ears.
We can't even guess what He has in store!

"Many, O Lord my God, are the wonderful works which You have done, and Your thoughts toward us: no one can compare with You! If I should speak of them, they are too many to be numbered."
Psalm 40:5 Amplified Bible

God's Gift To Us

In a manger Christ was born.
No fancy robes by Him were worn.
But in His heart was Heaven’s gold.
As He grew this would unfold...

People sought His healing touch.
He healed lepers, poor and such.
He cut through tenets of the day,
The truths of God’s love to convey.

His life did not have fancy “wrappings”...
Raiment, finery or “trappings”.
But with wisdom He was rich.
In our hearts He would seek niche...

Welcome this pure “gift” of gold,
Your blessings will be manyfold.
When God sent His precious Son
To us His gift was “one-on-one”.

“God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.”

Sounds Of Christmas

Carolers singing, a joyful sound bringing,
Trumpets and choirs and pretty bells ringing...
These are the sounds of bright Christmas cheer,
Announcing good news for all men to hear!

“Peace be on earth and good will toward men.”
Let this be broadcast again and again!
Jesus has come... He is the Light,
Hope for mankind... the world to ignite.

Let celebration well up in your heart
And cause daily worries to flee and depart.
Jesus is come, our joy to renew.
Let His song ring forth... in me and in you!

“And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.”

A Mighty Flame Of Love

Birthed so very long ago...
A tiny spark, a mighty flame...
God's great love poured out on us
That precious night the Christ Child came.

Jesus' life would be the tool
Of breaking through sin's ugly wall.
He became redemption's door
For every sinner... yes, for all.

God reached down to lowly man
Through the life of His sweet Son.
Jesus was love's mighty flame
God's gift to each and everyone.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Good Tidings Of Great Joy

Baby Jesus, God's Pure Son,
I am reminded, Precious One,
How You've healed hearts and made us new.
The inn of my heart is open to You.

Again I rejoice that you came to earth,
New light and life in lost people to birth.
Our hearts are filled with Your great treasure,
Now flowing out in abundant measure.

This joy within me wants to sing.
Let bells and hymns and carols ring.
Thank You, Jesus, that You came.
All glory be unto Your name.

"And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord."

Revisit The Manger

I will revisit the manger again
To retrace my steps and where I have been,
To recall God’s blessings and open my heart,
Ready for God new life to impart.

Let all my worship be fragrant as myrrh,
And let His great love anew in me stir.
As I remember and take time to pause,
Again I am filled with joy and applause.

Salvation was birthed in the manger that night...
Promise of heaven, mankind to excite.
We can take joy, for God had a plan
To bring full redemption and blessing to man.

“And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.”

Sing "NOEL"

Angel voices sing “Noel”.
Sit and listen “for a spell”.
They have good news they will tell...
How Jesus came to earth to dwell.

Angel voices heard on high,
Echoing across the sky
With beauty we cannot deny,
Entreat all people to draw nigh.

Heavenly choirs their worship bring,
“Glory to the new-born King!”
Listen as the angels sing
And let their joy within you ring!

“And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.”

Tell The Little Children

Tell the little children of that night so long ago
When Christ was born in Bethlehem in a manger low.
Share with them that Christmas is a time to celebrate
The love of God for each of them... for them to contemplate.

“Christmas” has no purpose, apart from Jesus’ birth.
It takes on worldly emptiness and doesn’t have much worth.
Jesus is the center, and He gives us glorious reason
To share His love with others in this bright and joyous season.

“But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”

Christmas Treasure

The King of Kings and Lord of Lords
In lowly fashion came to earth.
Unthinking man made Him no room.
A manger was His place of birth.

Jesus was God's greatest gift
To save man out of his dread state,
To overcome the world with love
And triumph over sin and hate.

Think how by this small beginning
The world was then forever changed.
Little did man understand
That God our future rearranged.

Remembering now Christ's humble birth
And how He died in our behalf...
When we receive Him in our hearts
Our lives will bear God's autograph.

Each year Christmas bears new meaning,
Written deeply in our hearts.
How we treasure Christmastime
And all the memories it imparts.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

The Real Christmas

Christmas is a holy time
To celebrate our Savior’s birth...
A time to worship and remember
God’s own gift of greatest worth.

But man would try to change it all,
Diminishing the Christmas season,
Leaving us a “holiday”
Without its God-intended reason.

Then what is left to celebrate...
The endless gifts? Or what we ate?
The Christmas trees we decorate?
Or too much cost which we create?

Let us pause and contemplate
The blessing of God’s greatest gift.
Let us worship from our hearts...
Much praise and adoration lift!

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

The Song Of Christmas

As for Christmas we prepare
Music permeates the air...
A song that started long ago.
Listen for it’s lovely flow.

Let a chorus brightly sing.
Hear the distant church bells ring.
Listen to the children’s voices,
Singing as the land rejoices.

Let the Christmas music swell
And celebration come to dwell.
Deep within the hearts of men
Let Jesus’ birth resound again.

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.”
Luke 2:14 KJV

Mirrors Of Christmas

If this Christmas season were seen in a mirror,
What would be found there in it’s clear reflection?
Would there be singing, or sharing and love...
Would anything there point in Jesus’ direction?

Would there be scenes of sweet celebration,
Honoring Jesus... rememb’ring His birth?
Who there would practice “good will to all men”
And live in a way to bring peace on the earth?

Christmas has meaning anew every year
As His love is birthed afresh in each heart.
And when this happens, new joy will come forth...
His love and His peace and warmth to impart.

The scenes in the mirror will be lovely indeed,
Recording the love of the Christmas season,
For all that has meaning and really has worth
Is found in our Lord... HE is the reason!

Without Jesus Christ the mirrors will be empty
And will not record a scene or reflection.
The scenes will be lost, for they don’t have true meaning,
And will not be worthy of sweet recollection.

A Christmas Voice

It’s time to raise a Christmas voice
With joyous sound, “Rejoice! Rejoice,”
As once again we celebrate
And Jesus’ birth commemorate.

Hallowed is this special season.
Jesus really is the reason
Why we have a holiday
And God’s great love again convey.

The Christmas message shall remain
And offer love and hope again.
God sent “Love” to everyone.
Meditate on what He’s done.

Jesus was God’s greatest gift,
Our lives to save and bless and lift.
Join with me and raise your voice.
Jesus came... Rejoice! Rejoice!

Let The Children Sing

At Christmas let the children sing.
Let their little voices ring!
Let their hearts well up with joy,
Every girl and every boy.

As they sing of Jesus’ birth
And are filled with glee and mirth,
Listen to their gentle sound.
Love and sweetness there abound.

Children have a special way
In how they sing and what they say.
They will bring a simple view
Which oft refreshes me and you

When the little children sing,
Special blessings they will bring.
Listen to their voices sweet
As the Savior’s birth they greet.

“But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”

This Christmas Season

May candles of warmth burn brightly each day
In hearts filled with love... a beautiful way
To celebrate Christmas and show the true reason
Why we celebrate in this wonderful season.

Giving and sharing with those who have needs
Are beautiful ways to bring joy and “sow seeds”.
Bringing a meal might warm someone’s heart
If their friends and their families may be far apart.

The lonely and hurting may need a soft touch
To brighten their day so they won’t hurt so much.
Some little child might need some new shoes,
A hug or a toy or a game to amuse.

Loving and caring can make this December
A time of much warmth for folks to remember.
If we reach out in this season of love
We’re extending true warmth from the Father above.

“And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, ‘Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.’ And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.’ ”

A Gift For God

This Christmas make a gift to God.
Let your heart with love be shod.
Let His light from your life shine.
Let His love your "walk" define.

He will change the way you see.
From many "bindings" you'll be free.
In your thinking give Him sway.
He'll lead you in a blessed way.

In Him you will have "release"
And have a profound inner peace.
Your spirit truly will be rich
When you've found His special niche.

"Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness."

A Joyous Song

Oh, how much the world has need
Of Love and Light instead of greed,
Of loving folks who really care
And who God’s loving ways will share.

Christmas is about God's love.
It's more than shopping's "push and shove".
This year let our hearts embrace
The Son of God and give Him place.

Worship Him and bring Him praise.
Joyful songs and carols raise.
Let the "music" of Christ's birth
Be sung and heard throughout the earth!

"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."
Luke 2:14 KJV

Being Crateful

Though you may not have enough
You still have more than others.
For many people suffer lack...
Neighbors, friends or homeless brothers.

Be grateful for this day God made.
Be grateful for His love.
Thank Him for His endless grace
And blessings flowing from above.

Gratefulness will change your thinking,
Adding beauty, joy and cheer,
Enabling you to function brightly,
In hard times to persevere.

Being grateful brings perspective,
Offering a different view.
No matter what your circumstance,
In God you’re truly “well-to-do”.

“Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee. Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name. My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips.”

Finding Gold

Sometimes we face challenges
Which we don’t want to face,
But they will bring great glory
If we rest in God’s unending grace.

The circumstance can turn our life
And cause us to discover “gold”.
As we mine the depths of God
Myriad blessings will unfold.

When challenge tries to take us
Where we do not want to go,
God will hold us in His hand
And through the challenge we will grow.

Our perspective will be new
And life will have a different tone.
We learn a lot about this life
When with God we’re all alone.

We know how near to us He is
And gain His sweet peace deep within.
He adds to us dimension
Which is gold that helps us win!

“For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, norangels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nordepth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

The Perfect Path

Seek to find God’s path in life
And find out who you really are!
When you find His plan for you
You might learn you could really “star”.

The role God gives will really “fit”
Because it’s hand-signed just for you.
When you are on God’s precious path
You will have a whole new view.

Purpose springs up with new strength.
Enthusiasm starts to smile.
Fulfillment brings encouragement
With joy to run that second mile.

Discovery in Him is rich
With joy awaiting you each day.
You’ll rise to unexpected “highs”
When in Him you find forte.

“For we are God’s own handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, (born anew) that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us (taking paths which He prepared ahead of time) that we should walk in them (living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live).”

A Song Of Praise

In my heart there is a song.
I hum its tune the whole day long.
Its melody will rise and fall
In worship to the Lord of all.

It is good to praise His name
And His goodness to proclaim.
As refrains of worship swell,
Joy and peace within me dwell.

He is worthy, He is King
He is Lord of everything.
Join with me in exaltation,
Praise and worship and ovation!

“I will extol thee, my God, O king; and I will bless thy name for ever and ever. Every day will I bless thee and I will praise thy name for ever and ever.”

A Possible Dream

If we would desire to walk as God leads, the size of our accomplishments would be far beyond our own expectations. By simple obedience to Him the prosperity of our lives would flourish. The bindings and roadblocks caused by error would fall away. Light would increase, joy would burst forth, peace and well-being would rest upon us.

Even in today's mixed-up world this is not an impossible dream. God's promises to us stand. He is faithful, His goodness is profound and always follows a tuned-in heart.

The more we are attuned to God, the more our "walk" will be adjusted and healed... no more stumbling and lack of direction or confidence, no more emptiness, but sureness and fulfillment and joy in each step we take.

Let this be the desire of our hearts...

"The steps of a (good) man are directed and established by the Lord when He delights in his way (and busies Himself with his every step)."
Psalm 37:23 Amplified Bible

"O Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps."
Jeremiah 10:23 KJV

"Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee. Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name. My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips."

Peace Within

Though the world be in turmoil, we need not be.
From chaos around us we can be free.
The Lord offers hope and rest and deep peace.
From all of our tensions He brings release.

Resting in Him is a well-chosen place
Where we can be quiet and healed by His grace.
When we trust in Him our perspective is clearer.
We will find calm as to Him we draw nearer.

His inspiration will help us be steady.
And He’ll help our hearts and minds to be “ready”.
We do not need to tremble in fear.
We are made strong when to Him we draw near.

“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty (Whose power no foe can withstand)."
Psalm 91:1 Amplified Bible

Guarding Our Focus

TV and radio, computers and smart phones
Have altered our lives but have some unknowns.
By the end of the day we’re exhausted and drained.
Our time is all spent, but not much was gained.

We no longer “study” what goes on around us.
Good conversation is nil... not a “plus”.
Relationships suffer because they are “shuffled”.
What is important gets dampened and muffled.

Electronics are a huge “mind invasion”,
Crowding out thoughts of spiritual persuasion.
We need to measure their use with much care
And recognize how they can be a real snare.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
Isaiah 55:8-9 KJV

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

Gold

With deep understanding a person is calm.
In times of great stress his peace is a balm .
He will not be jarred or speak out in haste,
For words too soon spoken are often a waste.

He will be guided by wisdom and vision
And choose all his words with careful precision.
When he does speak, his words will be clear.
His oversight will be worthwhile to hear.

Those who seek wisdom are truly a gift
And add to us blessing, our lives to lift.
They have understanding more priceless than gold.
It cannot be bought, nor will it be sold.

"He who has knowledge spares his words, and a man of understanding has a cool spirit."

Simplicity

Simplicity often will be the best answer
To untangle "messes" and "knots" we create.
"Too much" is often the root of our problem
And may be the cause of our frustrated state.

"Too much" of everything can be as a snare,
A binding from which we just are not free.
Of hindrances always we should be aware
So we know who we are and who we should be.

Set aside time for worship and prayer.
Measure each day the time that you have.
You will begin to find a new balance,
And "order" will be as a sweet healing salve.

Perspective will change and priorities improve.
Patterns of "too much" will start to be clear.
As excess in schedules and "stuff" is removed
Simplicity's loveliness soon will appear.

"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."
Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV

A Lovely Candle

Encouragement from a friend
Is a candle burning brightly,
For when you’re down it’s hard to see
And do and takes things lightly.

The candle has a healing touch
And overcomes “the blues” with gladness.
Soon you’ll break out into laughter,
Driving out all gloom and sadness.

But more than that, encouragement says,
“I love you and believe in you”.
The candle sheds its lovely light
To brighten all you’re going through.

“Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad.”
Proverbs 12:25 KJV

“Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and ealth to the bones.”

Timing

We sometimes need a “shaking”
Just to bring us up to speed
So we are on the cutting edge
To always know how God would lead.

If we need a “wake-up” call
We should be grateful when it comes.
It gives us fresh, new insight
So we don’t yawn and say “ho-hums”.

If every word the Lord will speak
We carefully will hear and heed,
Always we will have a peace
In how to “move” and to proceed.

Of being in His will and timing
We should always be aware.
We will know His path for us
If we will “watch” and stay in prayer.

“The sheep that are My own hear and are listening to My voice; and I know them, and they know Me.”
John 10:27 Amplified Bible

When he has brought his own sheep outside, he walks on before them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice.”

Banners Of Prayer

Our country is blessed with Godly foundation.
Let banners of prayer wave over this nation.
The tenets of God are the strength which we need.
Only to His words should we pay heed.

With mixed information we are bombarded.
Against such confusion we need to be guarded.
Issues of import get lost in the shuffle.
Too much mixed news our insight will muffle.

We must stay focused to steer through this "haze"
And not let our thoughts fall into malaise.
When we can't sort out the news that we hear,
Always to God's truths should we adhere.

A Song Of Thanksgiving

For abundance and for plenty
Let Thanksgiving songs be raised.
In expression from the heart
Let our God be warmly praised.

All we have is from His hand.
Let our worship freely flow.
Acknowledging His rich supply,
Let robust celebration grow.

He has poured out wondrous blessing.
Let us glorify His name!
For His love and faithfulness,
Let us bring Him all acclaim!

"O come, let us sing unto the Lord: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms. For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods.”
Psalm 95:1-3 KJV

Thanksgiving Thoughts

Thanksgiving brings reminder of God’s abundant blessing,
And pilgrims coming from afar, their love of God expressing.
They did not quit or “give up ship” because of hardship’s “press”,
But stood for freedom valiantly, enduring constant stress.

The first few years were bleak and hard... they paid a very high cost,
And as they suffered in the cold, precious lives were lost.
They labored and stood firm in faith, believing in their cause,
Planting seeds for this great nation... We give them applause!

Thank You, God, for those dear folk who came upon our shore.
The memory of who they were we never should ignore.
They gave up all they had and knew to worship and be free.
Help us be as strong as they... Help us, Lord, to see!

“Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.”
Psalm 95:2 KJV

Reaching Out

A Thanksgiving Story

Oftentimes, if we look around a little, we can find people with great need right on our doorstep.....

In our neighborhood there was a big old house which had been divided into apartments. There was a kindly gentleman, an older man, who lived there by himself and was very poor.

We were talking one day, as Thanksgiving was approaching, and he commented that he was going to buy a can of pumpkin so that he could taste it on Thanksgiving, because he hadn't had pumpkin pie for a long time. It broke my heart to think that that was going to be the extent of his Thanksgiving dinner. So my parents invited him to come have Thanksgiving dinner with us. Now no one could cook a better turkey than my mom could! Her dinners were always a treat and complete with all the trimmings!

When dinner was ready, she sliced a lot of meat and placed it on a large platter. Also, she placed one whole turkey leg there. We sat down to eat, and as the food was being passed, Mr. H. looked longingly at the turkey platter. He looked at the sliced meat and he looked at the turkey leg, which was large. We knew he wanted the leg, but he was too polite to take it. So Mom told him to take it - and then he did..... with a big smile.

During dinner he began to share his story with us. In 1944 he had done something for which he had spent a short time in jail. His family had disowned him and he had not seen them since. He paid his dues, but his family was gone. He had been completely alone ever since.

It was 1959, and this was the first Thanksgiving dinner he had eaten since 1944....

How rewarding it is to reach out to others.

"For I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in. Inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me."
Matthew 25:35,40b NKJ

A Time Of Plenty

Thanksgiving time is drawing nigh...
The season when we glorify
The God of plenty and provision,
Praising Him for what He's given.

A time to give, a time to share,
A time for others' needs to bear,
For many lives have been displaced
As circumstance has laid them waste.

A time for kindness and compassion,
Reaching out in prayerful fashion,
Truly caring from the heart
For those who need a fresh, new start.

A time to give, a time to share,
A time for us to show we care...
By reaching out in Jesus' Name
We to them God's love proclaim!

"For I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in..... Inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me."
Matthew 25:35,40 NKJ

Remember The Pilgrims

Remember the pilgrims and what they stood for...
For freedom to worship they came to our shore.
They made a long journey from depth of conviction
To worship our God and be free from restriction.

Freedom in worship they knew must be guarded,
Not lightly treated or foolishly discarded.
This is a heritage we can't forget,
An error which only would bring deep regret.

God is our strength and all hope for this nation.
We lift our hands in heartfelt oblation.
In honor and tribute and worship we stand,
Knowing our blessings have been from His hand.

"It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High."
Psalm 92:1 KJV

"Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; and His greatness is unsearchable."
Psalm 145:3 KJV

Take Time To Reflect

This Thanksgiving Day the best thing to do
Is give God much honor, to which He is due.
The blessings He gives are more than we know.
It truly is time our gratitude to show.

Daily let hearts with awareness be shod.
We must be faithful to honor our God.
We need to slow down and give Thanksgiving space
And worship our God for His goodness and grace.

Christmas will come with joyful ado
And bring many blessings to me and to you.
But Thanksgiving is a true celebration
Of all God has done in this, our great nation.

"For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised..."
I Chronicles 16:25 KJV

"It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: to shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night."
Psalm 92:1-2 KJV

Climbing Safely

I shared with my chiropractor how I had had difficulty reaching my smoke alarm when it beeped in the middle of the night and how I didn’t want to climb up on anything to take it down. And this is the comment he made...”You should never climb higher than you want to fall.” These very wise words set off a whirlwind of thoughts in me...

If applied to everyday living, these words take on a whole greater meaning. If we try to “climb higher” in anything we do without wisdom and prayer we are setting ourselves up for a possible fall. Climbing higher in the workplace, climbing higher to be seen, climbing higher to prove we can do it, or just being careless and doing things without thinking... none of these is good, and we should always measure the size of a fall. Any kind of a fall could slow down or “cripple” our chances to move forward.

Trigger points which may precipitate a fall are ego, greed, jealousy, carelessness, lack of wisdom... How much wiser it is to think things through and to wait on the Lord’s timing. If we are meant to climb higher, He will prepare us and guide us so that our footsteps will be sure. He can save us many falls if we only will wait on Him. In the Lord we will be able to climb safely, for when we wait on Him, we walk in His favor.

“Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.”
James 4:10 KJV

“He makes my feet like hinds’ feet (able to stand firmly or make progress on the dangerous heights of testing and trouble); He sets me securely upon my high places.”
Psalm 18:33 Amplified Bible

Healing In Families

Let families be knit together
And be joined in faith and prayer.
Let them grow in unity
And of Your goodness be aware.

Let priorities be changed
And family values be renewed.
Let them honor one another
And hearts be filled with gratitude.

Let them find new joy in sharing.
Let new bonds be built and treasured.
Let time be spent in love and caring.
This healing can’t be even measured.

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!”
Psalm 133:1 KJV

Meekness

Meekness is a gentle trait,
One we tend to underrate.
It doesn't have a special "air"
Or bright facade it needs to wear.

Free from pride, it truly rests.
Its patience has no fear of tests.
Though it be mild, it isn't weak.
With thoughtful kindness it will speak.

The "eyes" of meekness clearly see.
From "self" and "ego" it is free.
It has deep peacefulness within,
And many battles it will win.

"Blessed (happy, blithesome, joyous, spiritually prosperous (that is, with life-joy and satisfaction in God's favor and salvation, regardless of their outward conditions) are the meek (the mild, patient, long-suffering), for they shall inherit the earth!"
Matthew 5:5 Amplified Bible

LORD, You Are

Lord, You are as oil in the gears of my day.
You are the Light which drives away “gray”.
You are the Warmth when others are “cold”.
You are the Source of blessings untold.

You are the Author of love, joy and peace.
From tension and stress You bring me release.
You are Creator of all that I need.
Your blessings and favor my needs far exceed.

You are my Joy in all that I do.
When I am tired, my strength you renew.
When I need courage, in You I find “might”.
Walking with You is a daily delight.

“This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”
Psalm 118:24 KJV

“For the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
Nehemiah 8:10 KJV
