It's so good to be a sheep
With the Shepherd giving keep,
Grazing 'neath His watchful eye,
And sheltered as the night draws nigh.
Listening to the Shepherd's voice
And resting in His flock by choice
Bring surety and comfort wise...
Nurture which His care supplies.
Sheep need cov'ring day and night
For all their needs... however slight.
The Shepherd hears their ev'ry bleat.
In Him they will have safe retreat.
"And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him; for they know his voice."

A Book To Be Read
Every life is as a book...
Events and stories from the past...
Written by the things we do,
Remembrances which truly last.
Hopefully our books are filled
With inspiration, love and hope,
Penned with wisdom and good will,
Encouragement with depth and scope.
When our lives draw to a close
We leave pages to be read.
Here our light may brightly shine,
By which many will be led.
"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him."

Everyday Goodness
We go to church one day a week
The Lord and all His ways to seek.
What we've learned can be a light
In someone's dark and dreary night.
But through the week we get sidetracked
In how we live and how we act
And oft forget that which we've learned...
For others to be more concerned.
Goodness isn't once a week.
Everyday it's love should speak.
Choose to live by what you've heard,
By Christ's example in the Word.
"For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power - making it active, operative, energizing and effective; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and (the immortal) spirit, and of joints and marrow (that is, of the deepest parts of our nature) exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart."

Listening
How much do we long to hear the Lord's voice...
Are we too rushed in Him to rejoice?
Often He waits until we are still
To share of His goodness and speak of His will.
When we are still and ready to hear
Then He will whisper His love and good cheer.
Hearing His voice we find we are changed,
The thoughts of our hearts in Him re-arranged.
In His sweet presence we find His rich treasure
And taste of His goodness in beautiful measure.
Taking the time to listen and "wait"
A blessed dimension for us will create.
"O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee... My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips."

Let Truth Be Known
Let truth be as a beacon bright,
Our steps to guide and path to light.
May we be prepared and ready.
May our progress e'er be steady.
Challenges may come our way.
We can meet them as we pray.
God will keep us from grave error
And shield us from the blight of terror.
God is faithful and is able.
He will keep us strong and stable.
Darkness cannot quench His light
Or stand against His power and might!
"When he, the spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come."
John 16:13 KJV

Rushing Waters
A Prophecy
January 31, 2012
In my spirit I see rivers washing their banks away... mighty rivers... powerful waters.. changing the course of lives, laying out new guidelines, the new replacing the old, new parameters for living.
Many have been living too close to the edge of the river. The waters are tearing at the banks. It is time to re-establish their lives on firmer ground.
Re-think what is really important. This wll be a new guideline. Discard that which is unnecessary or no longer useful. Move to higher ground. Be ready. Look forward.

A Soft Touch
A soft touch is better than "wars" we would wage,
A much wiser tool our fears to assuage.
Thoughtfulness, gentleness, calmness and peace
Oft will encourage all discord to cease.
Walking in peace will heal and soothe,
Causing our "paths" to be happy and smooth.
If we will choose to have a soft touch,
Rewards will be many and peacefulness much.
"And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful."
Colossians 3:15 KJV

Laughter And Grace
Laughter just makes life more easy,
Cheering hearts which may be "queasy".
It breaks tensions with delight
And makes the atmosphere feel bright.
If your day starts bogging down,
Laughter will offset a frown.
Choose to smile and have some fun,
Or think of funny things you've done.
Laughter turns grey skies to blue,
And merriment willl bring you through
Those "grumpy" times which we all face.
Laughter is a form of grace.
"He that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast."

On Time
Some folks just are always late.
With them you "hurry up and wait".
Often they will have excuse.
Of others' time this is misuse.
Being punctual is a gift.
It's measuring our time with thrift.
"Waiting" time is time that's lost,
And sometimes it will bring high cost.
Sometimes schedules are too tight,
And this creates a stressful plight.
Only do that which is prime,
And make a plan to be on time!

High Flight
When efforts seem to fail, and emotions feel quite tattered,
It's time to reconsider just how much the cause has mattered.
For sometimes we get wrapped up in the matters of each day.
Our goals get somewhat side-tracked and we bog down in the "fray".
Oftentimes the tears we shed are spent upon "the little things",
But if we're focused on our goals, we'll rise up with golden wings
And bypass o'er the daily snags with confidence and joy and hope,
Riding on the wings of faith and keeping vision with bright scope.
"Bumpy" paths are not a challenge if we keep our sights on high.
We can move with able steps and never have to wonder why...
Efforts may get scrambled or delayed or maybe even stopped.
We won't lose composure if for "high flight" we will opt!
"Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths. Lead me in the truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day."
Psalm 25:4-5 KJV
"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."

Knowing His Voice
The shepherd watches o'er his sheep
By day and night his flock to keep.
When He speaks, His voice they know.
Where He leads, his flock will go.
Should a sheep then go astray
The Shepherd goes without delay
To find his sheep and bring him back...
To keep him safe from wolves' attack.
It's good to stay within the flock,
For evil lurks and runs amok.
The sheep who hears the Shepherd's voice
Is sheltered and has made wise choice.
"And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice."
John 10:4 KJV
"If a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray?"

Soaring In Him
When we overcome the trivial
What a blessing is in store.
As we seek a higher plane
In the Spirit we will soar!
"Every-dayness" bogs us down
And tends to weary our precision,
But when we seek the Holy Spirit
He will open up our vision.
Gaining insight and perspective,
We will see in new dimension,
Moving in the Spirit's timing
With much greater comprehension.
"For in him we live, and move, and have our being..."

The Gift Of Silence
Gossip is a "careless" tool.
We should never let it rule.
Info which we should not share
Discreetly should be wrapped in prayer.
When in speech our words meander,
Sometimes they become as slander.
Gossip sadly lacks respect
And lovingkindness won't reflect.
Any "news" which we might hear
To another may be dear.
We can give that one a lift...
To them our "silence" is a gift.
"He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends."
Proverbs 17:9 KJV
"Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth. The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly."

A Sure Foundation
The Lord is our strength.
He is our salvation.
In Him we live
And have firm foundation.
Should all else be gone,
We find we can stand.
For He is our Rock...
And offers His hand.
Our foundation is sure...
We're never alone.
When anchored in Him
We can face the unknown.
"For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

A Young Boy's Tribute
Recently my brother Dave went home to be with the Lord, and the following is my grandson's tribute to his Uncle Dave...
IN LOVING MEMORTY OF DAVE FRANZEL
Born on December 25, 1931. He died at the age of 79 on December 11, 2011. He was a war veteran. He served during the Korean War.
WE WILL MISS YOU!!
WE WILL REMEMBER YOU!!!
YOU ARE IN A "COOLER" PLACE
Also in memory of his Uncle Dave he prepared a memorial. In a box he placed the following items:
Crayons and Christmas bows... because Dave had a colorful imagination.
A Christmas light bulb... because he had light in his heart.
Money (a dime)... because he was worth more than gold.
Candy... because he was sweet.
A hand-warmer... so he would be warm wherever he went.
A comic and "silly band"... because he was funny.
A hat... because Dave always wore a hat.
Wood... because he was a carpenter and worked with wood.
An eraser and pencil... the pencil to mark the wood and the eraser in case he made an error in the way he marked it.
An Army man... to represent his military service.
He wrapped the box in waterproof tape and asked to bury it in the ground in my back yard (because I lived near Dave).
My grandson is 11 years old and did not ask for help in doing this. This was his own tribute to someone he loved. Also, he got up and shared about this at the memorial service for Dave.
After the service he told me, "Uncle Dave was like the fuel in the car of my heart"...

Emmanuel - God With Us
With us in the light of day,
With us through the night,
With us through our fearful times
Or struggles... even slight.
Nothing is too hard for Him
And nothing is too small.
As we walk with faithful step
He will cover all...
With comfort and encouragement.
We never are alone.
All the factors of our day
Before Him are well-known.
"Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us."

A Heart Of Compassion
My brother Dave had a heart for people who were struggling in life...
One day he left his workplace at lunchtime and walked up to the park blocks around Portland State College to eat his sack lunch. He saw a man lying on one of the park benches, and he heard the Lord say to him, "Give that man your lunch." He did, and that was the beginning of a very beautiful friendship.
This man had been a writer for a large well-known newspaper in the Chicago area, and he had been high up in leadership of his church. But he lost his job, and then his marriage failed and he started drinking. At some point he had come to the Portland area. He spent some time in the Burnside area, drinking, but he decided he shouldn't be there so he moved to the park block area near the college where Dave found him.
Over time Dave took lunch to him a number of times, and on cold days would try to find him and take him to a restaurant to eat and get warm. Eventually someone gave this man a room to stay in, and he came back to the Lord. He had a very sincere, gentle spirit... a beautiful person.
Dave, because of his compassion for hurting people, was a part of this man being able to piece his life back together again, and this man had a new beginning in life.

Much Prayer Needed
How much we need to pray
For our nation every day...
That God will heal our "ills"
And save us from men's wills.
Pray that truth be known
And that leaders willl be shown
The path we need to walk...
And God's ways will not balk.
God will hear the prayer
Of an humble burden-bearer.
With covering of prayer
How much better we will fare!
"The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much."

Reaching Out
A Prayer
Help us to see, to know and discern...
A hand reaching out needs a hand in return.
Some folks in need are quiet and shy.
Help us to hear the depth of their sigh.
Sometimes a smile will bring inner healing
To one who is down in how he is feeling.
Sometimes a touch to show that we care
Becomes as an answer to someone's deep prayer.
Lord, You alert us to those who have need
And cause us to sow some positive seed.
Help us, O Lord, to see as You see
And always a messenger of hope to be.
"...Let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others."
Philippians 2:3-4 KJV

A New Vessel
A long time ago I had a dream, and in my mind I can still see what the Lord showed me in that dream.
I saw a broken teapot. It had been dropped and broken so many times that now it was just beginning to crumble apart. It seemed to now be beyond repair.
But then suddenly, as I again looked at the teapot, it was all shiny and new. It was totally restored to it's original beauty with lovely painted designs on it. As I looked closely I could see no hairline cracks in it al all. It was beautiful.
This teapot represented a broken life, and in the restored teapot I saw how the love of God had erased the brokenness and re-created that life to be even more beautiful than when it was first created. There were no signs of aging or wear and tear.
And this is the promise we have in Christ. He is able to take all the broken pieces of our lives and make them into something new and beautiful. He cares so much...
"Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever."
Psalm 30:11-12 KJV

The Roads We Travel
In life we walk so many roads
And often carry heavy loads,
But as we walk them in God's light
Our "walks" will be content and bright.
When we can't see 'round the bend
Then on God we can depend.
Folks may ponder what we do
And think that we "don't have a clue"...
But in our God we have clear lead.
Our fondest hopes He will exceed.
From many roadways we can choose,
And He will help us win... not lose.
"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."
Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV

Sowing And Reaping
Never give up... continue to sow.
Sooner or later your efforts will show.
Sometimes we think our prayers are not heard,
But when prayed in faith, God hears ev'ry word.
Our labors to sow good seed for the Lord
Will come to fruition and bring rich reward.
Weeping and toiling sometimes may be long,
But when answers come we'll sing victory's song.
Never give up, continue to sow
Good seeds into lives wherever you go.
When you trust the Lord, not one seed is lost.
Rejoicing will come and o'ertake the "cost".
"They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him."

Prayer Finds A Way
As water always makes a way
To reach it's destination,
Prayer, too, o'ercomes and flows
In quiet celebration.
Prayers ascend the highest wall
And reach through time and space,
Pushing forward fervently
Sweet answers to embrace.
Prayers left in God's great hands
Are clothed and laden with His power,
Able to surmount our cares
And stand with strength through "trouble's" hour.
Prayer always finds a way
And flows with expectation,
Even as a waterbrook
To reach it's destination.
"Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."

Simple Words
When many words present a "test"
Simple answers are the best.
Speaking truth and staying calm
Will often be as healing balm.
Parsing words much time will waste
And sponsor feelings of distaste.
Little "sparks" can cause a fire
And bog one down in anger's mire.
There really is a better way.
Choose to stay above the "fray".
Don't let "words" and quibbling in.
Simple answers usually win.
"But refuse - shut your mind against, have nothing to do with - trifling (ill-informed, unedifying, stupid) controversies over ignorant questionings, for you know that they foster strife and breed quarrels."

Trends Of The Times
The trends of the times have made people numb,
And oft they forget God's wisdom to plumb.
Truth gives foundation on which we should stand
As flurries of untruth descend on our land.
We cannot let these trends become "norm",
Nor should we ever to "blurred" trends conform.
Discernment will come if we stay in the Word
To always stand strong against untruths we've heard.
Trends starting small may not seem to matter,
But when not discerned God's "order" will scatter.
His Word will help us to see through this "stuff"
And always with wisdom these trends to rebuff.
"See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is."
Ephesians 5:15-17 KJV

A Learning Experience
We don't learn in easy times.
Wisdom comes from many "climbs"...
Out of valleys, up big hills,
Out of problems, sometimes ills.
A "situation" or a glitch
Can leave us poor or make us rich.
How we choose to deal with such
Can be a plus and teach us much.
Running from the "mount" we face
Will take us to an empty place.
But seeking wisdom as we learn
Will bring us merit in return.
"Happy (blessed, fortunate, enviable) is the man who finds skillful and godly Wisdom, and the man who gets understanding (drawing it forth from God's Word and life's experiences). For the gaining of it is better than the gaining of silver, and the profit of it better than fine gold."

My Prayer For Peace
Lord, this is my prayer for peace.
Let all strife and tension cease.
Let us learn to show respect
And on Your goodness to reflect.
Let Your kindness in us show
So others Your great love will know,
Doing some good deed each day
And, when tensions rise, to pray.
Help us spread good will and cheer
To offset feelings which are "drear".
Help us "foster" love and peace.
Let God's love in us increase.
"Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God."

People Who Inspire - Connie
I once knew a woman named Connie who had learned to lean on the Lord in a very practical way. Connie was a lovely, young married woman with three small children...
She and her husband had invited our Sunday School class to their home for a backyard barbecue. On the day of the barbecue I stopped at her home around 11:00 a.m. to bring a card table and chairs to her. She was trying to mow the back lawn, but her day wasn't going well. She had a sink full of dishes, wall-to-wall toys, hadn't washed her hair, and one of the children had a problem which needed medical attention. Also, that morning, when her husband left for work, he had asked her to fold all the diapers and laundry in the basement because he wanted to show everyone their new waterbed. When I left she was headed to the doctor's office. I offered to come back and help her, but she said, "no".
In the evening when I returned to her home Connie was relaxed and well-groomed, and her home was in perfect order. She was not at all frazzled, but looked rested. I asked her if someone had come to help, and she said, simply, "No. Every time I felt rushed I sat down and read the Word." She had accomplished a supernatural amount of work that afternoon and seemed to have gained strength and composure in the midst of it.
As we remember to lean on Him in the little things He will give us increase in our days and allow us to accomplish the bigger things He has for us. If we don't lean on Him in the little things we may not ever learn what the bigger things are.
"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."
Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV

Careful Words
Sometimes the words we speak get us in trouble.
Speaking too quickly can make problems double.
It is much better to give words some thought
Or maybe say nothing till wisdom is sought.
How many problems could daily be solved,
And how many tensions could then be resolved!
A disciplined tongue will measure it's speech,
Lest kindness and friendships it's harshness might breach.
The tongue may be small, but has might and power
To impact for good and bring a "sweet shower"
Of kindness and wisdom to those who have need,
And bring good example while sowing rich seed.
"Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow in wrath..."
James 1:19 KJV

Wisdom's Balance
Though men may debate, God's wisdom will stand.
Even though they quibble throughout the land,
Promoting ideas with man-made intent
About which they endlessly fume and lament.
Then TV and radio replay all this "news"
So we may "learn" and maybe will choose
Which side to be on... should there be a vote.
First we should pray and of wisdom take note.
God's view is clear and will give good perspective.
He'll guide us and help us to be quite selective.
If we trust Him He'll show us when there may be error.
From Him we should learn and of man's views beware.
"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him."
James 1:5 KJV

Peaceful Waters
Peaceful waters soothe my soul,
Refresh my spirit, make me whole.
Should I pass through arid places
Your pure water "dust" erases.
Waters from Your heav'nly fount
Enable me to climb a mount
Or reach up to a higher plane,
Greater vistas to attain.
Peace is as a living stream,
My anxious moments to redeem,
Flowing out to touch and heal,
God's lovingkindness to reveal.
"He leadeth me beside the still waters."

Humility And Grace
He who boasts should careful be,
Lest God's great grace and mercy flee.
Grace is given to the humble.
Boasting causes it to crumble.
He who thinks he "has it made"
Is standing on a slippery grade.
Being overconfident
Can often lead to discontent.
When reality sets in
That boasting doesn't help one win,
God is able then to heal
The boaster from His self-made zeal.
"Humble pie" may then be sweet,
As grace o'ertakes pride and conceit.
Humility becomes the ground
On which a life may be profound.
"The Lord lifteth up the meek..."
Psalm 147:6 KJV
"God resists the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble."

Winter's Pause
Winter brings pond'rings and times to just rest
As hillsides and fields are pristinely dressed
In crystals of frost and blankets of white...
A pause in the year to seek the Lord's light.
As snowflakes fall, or winds blow and storm,
Draw near to Jesus and let Him transform
Your thoughts from last year to a year bright and new
And sponsor ideas for you to pursue.
As you take time to ponder and pray
He will enrich your year day by day.
Winter gives pause when we may take rest
To savor the goodness of God and be blessed.
"The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him."

Blazing A Trail
When we're starting out anew
And begin to "blaze a trail",
Are we "taking land" for good?
Do our efforts have avail?
The direction of our lives,
When we've diligently planned,
Can make impact of great value
Which will matter and will stand.
We can change the world
By the way we live each day.
Our lives can make a difference
And help others find their way.
The gifts we leave behind
When our lives are finally spent
Are things we do for others.
May they be of blessed intent.
"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

Waiting On God In The New Year
For resolutions on a list
Of things which I should do this year,
I'll ask the Lord for new insight
And listen carefully to hear.
To find His purpose for each day
Will certainly much better be
Than following my own ideas
And missing what God has for me.
As I stay in tune with Him
He will lead my steps each day.
And He will change the way I think
As I listen and I pray.
"Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day."

Always He Is There
God changes lives...
He ties up loose ends which are unraveling.
He finds our lost pieces and puts the puzzle of our lives back togther again.
He mends our inner man when we are hopelessly broken.
He rebuilds what is crumbled.
He lifts us up when we are overwhelmed.
He calls out to us when we are racing in the wrong direction.
He is comfort in times of loss.
He is strength in times of weakness.
His grace is more than enough and His mercies are new every morning.
He loves us even though we stumble or fail,
And always He is there for us.
"For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Truth Is Best
"Counterfeit" people will cheat, lie or steal.
They may seem innocent, but they're not "real".
Though they don't really intend to be cruel,
Deep in their "guidelines" for truth, "grey" will rule.
They aren't "clear-cut" on what's black or white.
Their insight is "hazy"... it isn't quite right.
They sometimes think "a little won't matter"
When in reality, truth it will scatter.
Truth is unbending... it cannot be changed.
It cannot be compromised or rearranged.
Those who see clearly will know what is true
And hold to the truth in all that they do.
"A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape."
Proverbs 19:5 KJV

Power In The Word
The Word is a fortress of power and might,
Unshakable, strong and bursting with light,
Resource unending wherein we may dwell,
All darkness and error from us to dispel.
The Word undergirds and makes us sure-footed,
Giving us strength which can't be uprooted.
It is our shield against worldly woes,
Bringing serenity, calm and repose.
"Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him."

Some New Year's Thoughts
To be worthy in God's sight,
To be a light and then shine bright,
To hear God's voice and do what's right,
To not spend time on what is trite.
To daily lift God's name on high,
To obey and not ask "Why?"
To pray and not stand idly by
When someone hurting heaves a sigh.
To be kind in what I say,
To reach a set goal every day,
To not be idle or blase'
Or let wise focus slip away.
To pray in this election year
For God to guard our freedoms dear,
To God's leading to adhere,
And always His great name revere.
"Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."

To hear God's voice and do what's right,
To not spend time on what is trite.
To daily lift God's name on high,
To obey and not ask "Why?"
To pray and not stand idly by
When someone hurting heaves a sigh.
To be kind in what I say,
To reach a set goal every day,
To not be idle or blase'
Or let wise focus slip away.
To pray in this election year
For God to guard our freedoms dear,
To God's leading to adhere,
And always His great name revere.
"Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."

Promise For The New Year
The old year now is almost spent,
And the new year hovers near,
Bringing opportunity
Great new plans to pioneer.
Promise for a bright new day
Is what the Lord is all about...
Perhaps new purpose to survey.
Do not question or have doubt.
"Catch" the Holy Spirit's wave
And move in rhythm with the Lord.
The greatest purpose we can find
Is with Him to be "on board".
"Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, ye righteous; and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart."
Psalm 31:11 KJV

Our Great God
If God created heav'n and earth
And to all mankind gave birth,
We can know that He has power
To give us help in needful hour.
Circumstance which we go through
Can never quench what God can do.
God is greater than we know.
Gratefulness to Him we owe.
When His goodness we proclaim
And call upon His holy name
We can know He'll hear our prayer.
God is great... beyond compare.
"Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth."

Jesus' Touch
The healing power of Jesus carries warmth and cheer and light...
Encouragement for all that ails... refreshing which is bright.
The healing power of Jesus can transform that which is worn,
Bringing new vitality and mending what is torn.
Jesus' touch is powerful and filled with love and hope...
Much beyond our comprehension, greater far in scope.
All that we release to Him will have a healed dimension.
Even of our smallest prayer He gives us full attention.
Many things we do each day may seem to work okay,
So we don't think to "ask for help"... for some things we don't pray.
Should we bring these things to Him, we may have huge surprise.
In Him ALL is better... all we do He beautifies.
"O Lord my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me."
Psalm 30:2 KJV

The Echoes Of A Life
The echoes of a person's life reverberate through time
And leave a bank of memories which some may wish to mime.
Lives well-lived will leave a treasure, rich and of much worth.
In another person this rich treasure may find berth.
Imprint of the way we live may foster life in others,
Even some we do not know, in neighbors or in brothers.
Good example speaks it's message... we don't have to say a word.
By our actions over time our own echoes will be heard...
Ringing in the memories of some who have passed by
Who wish to change their lifestyle and our example try.
Life well-lived is never lost... it echoes on and on,
Passing on it's blessings as a valuable baton.
"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."
Matthew 5:16 KJV

My Song Of Praise
Your mercy is greater than I comprehend.
On your love and grace I daily depend,
For I'm not complete except by Your grace.
With Your lovingkindness my life You embrace.
Heavenly Father, to You I bring praise.
With all of my heart my worship I raise.
Let my expression Your greatness proclaim.
All glory and honor be unto Your name.
"I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation. I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me."
Psalm 13:5-6 KJV
"Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee. Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name."

Never Alone
Never alone... we're never alone.
We need not fear what may be unknown.
Jesus, our Lord, is constantly there,
Our worries and loneliness always to bear.
He is our friend, well able to fill,
All of those empty spots which feel so "nil".
He brings a fullness of gladness and cheer.
Always His presence is precious and dear.
With Him alongside, in peace we abide.
His loving hand will comfort and guide.
We cannot fathom the works He will do.
Worship the Lord! He makes all things new.
"How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings. They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures. For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light."

Merry Christmas
The Good News
Once again our hearts make trek
To Bethl'hem town to pay our "dues",
Where history changed when Christ was born
And heav'nly hosts brought God's good news!
Once again our hearts will sing
As we are filled with bright new hope,
And worship God for Jesus' birth.
Through Him to us Heav'n's doors would ope.
Hallelujah! Worship Him!
He is Lord and He is King.
With chorus, bells, and harp and flute
Let all men adoration bring!
"And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."

Blessed Child
Lullaby, sweet Son of God,
As off to sleep You gently nod.
Slumber calmly, safe from harm,
Leaning on Your mother's arm.
Rest in peace... have sweet repose.
In her heart Your mother knows
You're the Son of the Most High,
One Whom men will glorify.
Baby Jesus, You will bring
Salvation to which men will cling.
You are Chosen, Blessed Child,
To reign as Lord... though You be mild.
"And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord god shall give unto him the throne of his father David."

A Tiny Spark... A Mighty Flame
A baby's birth... a tiny spark... would over time become a flame.
God's great love for all mankind the light of Heaven's hope became.
Jesus had no earthly comfort but was birthed in lowly place.
Man received a miracle of lovingkindness and of grace.
Let the flame of Jesus' love be fanned within your heart anew.
Let a holy fire burst forth and brightly burn in all you do.
Let it's light and warmth become contagious by it's healing balm,
Reaching out with new-lit flames, inspiring peace and joy and calm.
May this fire's sparks ignite, unquenchable and with great power.
Let salvation's fires burn with great new fervor in this hour.
Let our hearts be tuned afresh to know the warmth of Jesus' flame,
Remembering salvation's plan - the glorious reason why He came.
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved."

A Glorious Event
Silent night, hallowed night,
Eastern star, shining bright,
A newborn babe, love profound,
Angels singing, Heav'nly sound...
Joyful tidings, Heav'n's good news,
Peace on earth, good will to muse,
Shepherds pond'ring distant star,
Worshipping in fields afar...
Quietly a great event,
Love came down... Heaven-sent,
The greatest gift we'll ever know,
Cradled in a manger low.
"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The prince of Peace."
Isaiah 9:6 KJV

The Light Of The World
Jesus became the light of the world,
A message of hope, as a banner unfurled,
Given to man... God's ultimate gift
Of gracious redemption our stained lives to lift.
In Him is mercy. In Him is grace...
God's wonderful coverings in all that we face.
Jesus became the key to the door
Of heaven's bright gate and life evermore.
If we will follow, He'll show us the way,
Will fill us with joy and all fears allay.
Jesus became our path and our light
So we might have futures both holy and bright.
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

The Song Of Christmas
Music permeates the air
As for Christmas we prepare...
A song that started long ago.
Listen for it's lovely flow.
Let a chorus brightly sing.
Hear the distant church bells ring.
Listen to the children's voices,
Singing as the land rejoices.
Let the Christmas music swell
And celebration come to dwell.
Deep within the hearts of men
Let Jesus' birth resound again.
"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."

Savor The Miracle Of Christmas
Christmas brings remembrance of God's plan for our salvation.
It's miracle of promise is a cause for celebration.
And yet we hurry to and fro... too rushed to give much thought
To that which is before us, to be reverent as we ought.
More than other times we should pause, reflect and savor
The marvel of God's faithfulness, His wondrous grace and favor.
Drink in all the beauty... stop to breathe in once again
The splendor and the essence of God's graciousnesss to men.
Christmas brings renewal as we ponder Jesus' birth,
But if we are too busy we may miss it's precious worth.
As we again receive all it's blessings and it's joy,
May we have remembrance... it's full meaning to employ.
"The Lord is God, Who has shown and given us light (He has illuminated us with grace, freedom, and joy)."

Finding Christmas
The real Christmas isn't found
In presents from a shopping mall
And dashing back and forth in stores
For many items, large and small.
Jesus Christ is still the reason -
Christmas is His wondrous story.
He was God's most precious gift.
We should praise and give Him glory.
Jesus' name has been erased
From speech and courts and public schools,
But He still lives in many hearts.
He is Lord and He still rules!
What a wondrous gift God gave,
Of love and joy and hope for all.
The happiness which Jesus brings
Cannot be purchased in a mall.
"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shalll be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."

A Christmas Voice
It's time to raise a Christmas voice
With joyous sound, "Rejoice! Rejoice,"
As once again we celebrate
And Jesus' birth commemorate.
Hallowed is this special season.
Jesus really is the reason
Why we have a holiday
And God's great love again convey.
The Christmas message shall remain
And offer love and hope again.
God sent "Love" to everyone.
Meditate on what He's done.
Jesus was God's greatest gift,
Our lives to save and bless and lift.
Join with me and raise your voice.

A Season Of Joy
Let Christmas once again unfold
The greatest story ever told
Of Jesus' birth, God's precious Son...
God's salvation plan begun.
Let His love spread far and wide
In a mighty, sweeping tide.
As gifting to the hearts of men,
Let His birth be told again.
Jesus came to make men glad...
The greatest friend man ever had.
Let us celebrate His birth
With adoration, joy and mirth.

Sing Noel
Angel voices sing "Noel".
Sit and listen "for a spell".
They have good news they will tell...
How Jesus came to earth to dwell.
Angel voices heard on high,
Echoing across the sky
With beauty we cannot deny,
Entreat alll people to draw nigh.
Heavn'ly choirs their worship bring,
"Glory to the new-born King!"
Listen as the angels sing
And let their joy within you ring!
"And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord."

Tell The Little Children
Tell the little children of that night so long ago
When Christ was born in Bethlehem in a manger low.
Share with them that Christmas is a time to celebrate
The love of God for each of them... for them to contemplate.
"Christmas" has no purpose, apart from Jesus' birth.
It takes on worldly emptiness and doesn't have much worth.
Jesus is the center, and He gives us glorious reason
To share His love with others in this bright and joyous season.
"But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven."
Matthew 19:14 KJV

Heaven's Shore
In memory of my brother, David Franzel
December 25, 1931 - December 11, 2011
Our loved one has gone and we see him no more,
But rest in the knowledge he's reached Heaven's shore...
Where sorrow and pain no longer have sway,
Where the Son always shines and there is no "grey".
He rests in the arms of our Savior and Lord.
He ran a good race and now has reward.
If he could speak, he would say, "Do not grieve.
I've just been 'promoted'! You cannot perceive...
"How entering into Eternity's gate
Is far and beyond any earthly 'state'.
All are rejoicing, for there is no night.
My new home is glorious and filled with God's light."

Christmas Is Coming!
Christmas is coming! Christmas is coming!
It's time to remember our great Savior's birth...
A time of rejoicing, a time to bring praise
And celebrate Jesus throughout all the earth!

Let music rise up in jubilant sound!
Let our Savior's birth be greeted with joy!
Let banners be drawn and worship abound!
Let the Good News be spread far and wide.
Magnify Jesus throughout all the earth!
Let all that we do in this wonderful season
Bring glory and honor and tell of His worth!

Let banners be drawn and worship abound!
Let the Good News be spread far and wide.
Magnify Jesus throughout all the earth!
Let all that we do in this wonderful season
Bring glory and honor and tell of His worth!

A Little Girl's Christmas Tree
In years past my mother, who was already in her eighties, babysat a little three-year-old girl.
As Christmas drew near I thought it would be fun to bring this child her own little Christmas tree to decorate. I gathered up a bunch of unbreakable ornaments I had, then went in search of a tree. I found a little three-foot-tall tree at a lot near my house.
I didn't know how well a three-year-old could decorate a tree, but thought she could at least try. And she totally surprised us! She carefully placed the ornaments, one-by-one, walking around the tree with each one to make sure there were no bare places on the tree. She did a remarkable job for her age. It looked really pretty.
This whole scene was priceless to watch. When she was through she sat down (on a large, wrapped package) to admire her work. Her face glowed and her eyes were filled with delight. As she was sitting there, someone came and knocked at the front door. She jumped up to go see who was there, tripped on a throw rug, and went flying right into the middle of her tree, knocking the tree over. The ornaments went flying in every direction. She was devastated! She cried and she wailed. It was like her whole magical world had fallen apart.
It took a little time to comfort her, but then I encouraged her to pick the tree up and put all the ornaments on again. (It's a good thing they were unbreakable). So she started over and once again decorated her little tree. After I left I'm sure she adjusted and re-adjusted the placement of the ornaments. She was very precise about the way it looked. It was her very own little tree!!!

Keep Christmas Simple
Christmas is all about God's precious Son...
God's love poured out to every one.
Let celebration rise up in your soul.
With adoration our great God extol.
Church bells and choirs will ring out His praise.
Folks 'round the world bright worship will raise.
Don't get bogged down in presents and trees,
Wrapping, decor and activities.
Keep Christmas simple and take time to pause
And deep in the heart to bring your applause.
Let it's bright message again make you new,
And let God's great love be re-birthed in you.
"I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."

Christmas Celebration
Though you may not have a tree
Or you purchase not one gift,
Though you wear no fancy dress
Or your life is all adrift...
The Christmas celebration
Happens deep within the heart.
From there our joy comes forth,
And then Christmas has it's start.
The parties and the decor
Really don't amount to much
If they are not expressions
With our Savior's wondrous trouch.
Our circumstance should not affect
The brightness of the season.
When we know the love of Christ
We have a priceless reason...
To celebrate and fellowship
And want to share with others,
To sing some lovely carols
With some friends or Christian brothers.
The beauty of the season
Lies in grateful adoration
To Jesus Christ Who came to earth
As means for our salvation.
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
John 3:16 KJV

These Are They
Lives that count are not the rich
But Godly folks with quiet niche...
Those who walk their path each day,
Do not complain, but always pray...
Trusting God in all they do,
Knowing He will bring them through.
All the hurdles which they face
Are more than covered by His grace.
These are they whose faith has grown,
Leaving "wealth" to those they've known.
They in heav'n will wear a crown,
For there these folks will find renown.
"Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing."
II Timothy 4:8 KJV

A Joyful Heart
Spread some love and cheer each day.
Drive some gloom and doom away,
For someone may just need a lift.
Your joy to them will be a gift!
Reach out to a little one
That they might smile and have some fun.
Reach out to a friend in need.
Renew their hope by your good deed.
Make a happy atmosphere
For everyone who may come near.
Be contagious by your joy.
Merriment and mirth employ!
"Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad."

Merry Christmas To All
Good news came on Christmas Day,
God's lovingkindness to convey...
Jesus Christ would be the Light
God's greatest blessing to ignite.
Jesus is God's wondrous gift,
Our souls to save, our lives to lift.
Not that we deserve as much,
Yet all our lives He sought to touch.
What a gift... His precious Son...
That we with Him might be as one.
This good news won't fade away.
God's love for us is every day!
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

A Lovely Song
As we think of Jesus' love
And God's great gifting from above,
A song of Christmas sweetly forms
And deep within it's music warms.
Christmas brings a happy glow
Because of Christ's birth long ago.
As the Christmas music swells,
Earthly sorrows it dispels.
Anticipation is so bright
As once again we see His light.
In this blessed time of year
A lovely song again we'll hear.
"And the angel said unto them, fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord."

Walk In The Light
Light and darkness just don't mix.
This kind of problem we can't fix.
Walk in light and turn away
From darkness which has gone astray.
When we choose to walk in light
Our steps are sure, our days are bright.
Tangled webs we will not weave,
For light will cause us to perceive...
The fine line which we should not cross,
Protecting us from pain and loss.
Always choose to walk in light,
Putting darkness' threat to flight.
"Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them."
Ephesians 5:11 KJV
"Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord: and in his law doth he meditate day and night."

Every Day Is Good
Every day there's something good
To praise the Lord and shout about!
Lift up worship, songs and praise
And drive out every shred of doubt!
Think about God's lovingkindness,
His forgiveness and His grace.
His compassion and His love
Will bring a smile upon your face.
All good gifts are from His hand.
Praise His name and shout for joy!
Don't let problems get you down,.
Let His goodness be your buoy!
"Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation."

Beauty And Worth
If there be a touch of beauty
Or a thing which has some worth,
It is from the Father's hand.
It is He Who gave it birth.
Anything that we can do
Will only be a simple "gray".
But when we let the Father work
His handiwork He will display!
His touch upon that which we do
Will transform as from night to day.
He paints beauty everywhere
In generous and full array.
"And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us:
and establish thou the work of our hands upon us;
yea, the work of our hands establish thou it."

The Beauty Of Christmas
In the coming Christmas season
May our lives be wrapped in peace.
Let us turn our face to God
And may all disagreement cease.
May God's light and beauty shine
To bring new hope and life to all.
May our focus be on Him
And all His benefits recall.
Enter in this holy season.
Look beyond the Christmas rush...
God sent Jesus as redemption.
Savor what God did for us.

Heavenly Promise
The love of God can change a heart
And give a life a fresh new start,
Loosing bondage from the past
And bringing freedom which will last.
Sweet salvation is God's gift.
Oh, what joy when burdens lift!
Former sins are washed away.
Peace within the heart will stay.
Nothing else compares to this...
A special touch of heaven's bliss.
Salvation is God's guarantee...
His promise for eternity.
"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: and I give unto them eternal life: and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand."

The Greatest Gifts
The greatest gifts of myrrh and gold
May just be found within the old,
Or covered in a tender child
On whom the Lord has gently smiled.
Hidden in the simplest places
We'll find Jesus' love and graces.
Age or status will not count,
Neither wealth of great amount.
Only through humility
Will we have chance to ever see
The gold that lies before our eyes
And God's great wisdom realize.
"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning."

Contentment
Contentment and well-being each are signs of peace within...
Having deep tranquillity in spite of worldly din,
Knowing what has heavenly worth,
Being very down-to-earth.
In prosperity or need, contentment still will win.
Circumstancer may change or turn and peace within unsettle,
Or other folks around us sometimes irritate or "nettle".
Contentment rests within the heart,
A steadiness it will impart.
For when our trust is in the Lord He gives us quiet "mettle".
Over time we realize that things we have could scatter.
Contentment in the Lord is a more important matter.
Let peace rule within the heart.
Let the Lord His joy impart.
Let contentment overcome all worldly "noise and clatter".
"For I have learned in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content."
Philippians 4:11 KJV

Peace And Rest
Many are the sick and ailing.
Many hearts with fear are failing.
Needs for prayer are everywhere,
But be encouraged... God hears prayer.
He will lift the weights we carry
As with Him we pray and tarry.
He is greater than our needs
And all our hopes He far exceeds.
In spite of challenge we can rest
In Him we can meet every test.
In our God we will find peace
And from our worries have release.
"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."

Our Nation In Prayer
Lord, we come on bended knee.
Hear Your people... hear our plea.
Grant us mercy, help us fight
Against those who would quench our light.
Save our nation, help us stand,
As we repent across the land.
Foil the evil plots of men,
That truth and peace might rule again.
You are able by Your power
To save us in this pressing hour.
Strengthen us and bring us through.
In prayer our hearts are turned to You.
"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

Remembering His Benefits
Remember God's great benefits
He brings to you each day.
Recount His many mercies
He has shared along the way.
Think about His faithfulness
Whene'er you feel alone.
Muse about His saving grace
And goodness He has shown.
Bless Him with whole-hearted praise.
And with joy bright anthems raise.
Worship Him... bring honor due
For blessings He has given you.
"O come, let us sing unto the Lord: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms."

Thanksgiving Thoughts
Thanksgiving brings reminder of God's abundant blessing
And pilgrims coming from afar, their love of God expressing.
They did not quit or "give up ship" because of hardship's "press"
But stood for freedom valiantly, enduring constant stress.
The first few years were bleak and hard... they paid a very high cost,
And as they suffered in the cold, precious lives were lost.
They labored and stood firm in faith, believing in their cause,
Planting seeds for this great nation... we give them applause!
Thank You, God, for those dear folk who came upon our shore.
The memory of who they were we never should ignore.
They gave up all they had and knew to worship and be free.
Help us be as strong as they... help us, Lord, to see!
"Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms."
Psalm 95:2 KJV

Thanksgiving Time
Thanksgiving is a wondrous time
Of praise and celebration...
A season when we bow our hearts
In joyful adoration...
For blessings poured into our lives,
More than we can number...
Even for the air we breathe,
For life and health and slumber.
All we have is from God's hand
Poured out in bounteous measure.
By His love and graciousness
Our lives are filled with treasure.
"By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name."

Pilgrim's Story
Pilgrims came wanting freedom,
Ventured out far to roam,
Seeking for to worship Jesus,
Left their land and left their home.
Pilgrims came, torn and weary,
Suffering for freedom's cause.
Brave of heart and strong of conscience,
Blazing truth, changed history's course.
Do we stand, as the pilgrims?
Have we giv'n as much as they?
Can the coming generations
Look at us, thanksgiving pray?
Pilgrims we? Are we ready
To be brave, to be strong?
Are we building roads for Jesus,
Making strides against all wrong?
Oh, that we would all be pilgrims,
Standing for what we believe,
Sacrificing even a little
That our country might stay free.
"Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth."

Ventured out far to roam,
Seeking for to worship Jesus,
Left their land and left their home.
Pilgrims came, torn and weary,
Suffering for freedom's cause.
Brave of heart and strong of conscience,
Blazing truth, changed history's course.
Do we stand, as the pilgrims?
Have we giv'n as much as they?
Can the coming generations
Look at us, thanksgiving pray?
Pilgrims we? Are we ready
To be brave, to be strong?
Are we building roads for Jesus,
Making strides against all wrong?
Oh, that we would all be pilgrims,
Standing for what we believe,
Sacrificing even a little
That our country might stay free.
"Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth."
Psalm 60:4 KJV

A Thanksgiving Memory
At Thanksgivivg I always think of Margie...
Margie was a senior citizen in my neighborhood. I knew she didn't have much, but always when I saw her she was cheerful. She fixed her hair, had her make-up on, dressed in bright, pretty colors, and she was very pleasant to talk with. One day she mentioned to me that every night for dinner she had two tacos. It was all she could afford, but she felt that tacos had protein, vegetables and starch, so that was her best choice.
When time drew near to Thanksgiving I inquired of her, "Are you going to have dinner with your children?"
She replied, "No, they didn't invite me. But if I could, I would cook a turkey breast and invite my girl friend to come have dinner. We have such a good time together!"
As I went home and thought this over, I knew I wanted to surprise her. I went to the store and bought a turkey breast, potatoes, stuffing mix, yams and everything she would need for her meal with her friend. I took my full grocery sacks to her door and knocked. When I told her the bags were for her she peeked in, and then her face filled with joy. She was very excited... and showed it.
She didn't need to speak a word. "Thank you" was written all over her face.

A Time Of Plenty
Thanksgiving time is drawing nigh...
The season when we glorify
The God of plenty and provision,
Praising Him for what He's given.
A time to give, a time to share,
A time for others' needs to bear.
For many lives have been displaced
As circumstance has laid them waste.
A time for kindness and compassion,
Reaching out in prayerful fashion,
Truly caring from the heart
For those who need a fresh, new start.
A time to give, a time to share,
A time for us to show we care...
By reaching out in Jesus' Name
We to them God's love proclaim!
"For I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in... Inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me."

A Song Of Thanksgiving
For abundance and for plenty
Let Thanksgiving songs be raised.
In expression from the heart
Let our God be warmly praised.
All we have is from His hand.
Let our worship freely flow.
Acknowledging His rich supply,
Let robust celebration grow.
He has poured out wondrous blessing.
Let us glorify His name
For His love and faithfulness,
Let us bring Him all acclaim!
"O come, let us sing unto the Lord: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms. For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods."

A Season Of Thankfulness
October is over, November is here...
Season's reminder Thanksgiving is near,
A time to remember what Thanksgiving means,
Other than "holidays" and "cuisines".
This day was birthed in the hearts of a few
Who came "oh so far" from all that they knew,
Seeking to worship their God and their King,
Searching for freedom His praises to sing.
Suff'ring severely, they did not give up,
Believing each day God would fill their cup.
Thanksgiving then was a time to rejoice.
In glory to God they praised and gave voice.
Let us remember these brave, humble folk.
Their faith and example in us should evoke
Prayers and thanksgiving that freedom still rings
And for all of the bounty which God daily brings.
"Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noice unto him with psalms. For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods."
Psalm 95:2-3 KJV

The Foot Of The Cross
If we are hurting or suffered some loss,
Our burdens are lifted away at the cross.
Provision is there through Christ's sacrifice.
For all of our "weights" He has paid the price.
The foot of the cross is a place of renewal.
When we are "worn" it is there we "refuel".
All of our weeping and shed tears will cease.
From all our tensions we'll find His deep peace.
This is the place Christ poured out His love,
Becoming our "door" to the Father's great love.
Pilgrimage daily to rest at the cross
Brings new life and healing for all of our loss.
"For the story and message of the cross is... the manifestation of the power of God."

God Watching Over Us
At one point in my life I had no money coming in. I was low on oil for my furnace and didn't know how I was going to keep warm. My mom gave me fifty dollars to put a little oil in the tank so I wouldn't run out, but winter was coming and I knew that fifty dollars worth of oil wouldn't last long.
While the oil company was there putting the oil in the tank, a neighbor walked over to me and asked, "How much oil are you getting?"
I answered him, "However much fifty dollars will get for me."
He walked over to the oil man and was talking with him, then went into his house.
When I went to pay the oil man my fifty dollars, he said that the neighbor had handed him one hundred dollars for more oil.
I had been really down that day, but God was right there to lift me up. We never know how He will provide for us or who He will use, but His hand is not shortened to help us!
"I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth."

Times Of Prayer
Times of prayer on bended knee
Are times of sweet simplicity,
Hearing what God has to say,
Finding guidance for each day.
He will cover and protect
The lives and times of His elect.
Those who love Him walk in joy
And all His counsel will employ.
He pours out His love and peace
And from His goodness gives increase.
When we listen to His voice
He gives reason to rejoice.
"I will bless the Lord, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons. I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved."

The Whisper Of His Voice
The whisper of His voice in a quiet moment's pause
Cuts through what I'm doing and my attention draws.
Oh, what treasure, Oh, what joy... to realize and know
That He is always near to me, His blessings to bestow.
His caring never wavers and His presence is so real.
He is ever by my side, His guidance to reveal.
Should my footsteps weary or confusion cause alarm,
I can listen for His voice and lean upon His arm...
Trusting He will speak to me and cover me with peace.
The whisper of His voice brings such healing and release.
When I rest and give Him pause I know He will draw near.
In these times, as I am still, His voice is very clear.
"As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God."

Covering Our Children
Little children need God's "cover".
Over them let angels hover.
Let their footsteps guarded be,
And let their spirits remain free...
Never bound by sin's dark stain
Or bogging down in things mundane,
But reaching up to Godly goals
And soaring in their chosen roles.
Let them prosper and be strong
So they will stand against all wrong,
Looking up unto the Lord.
In Him they will find rich reward.
"But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven."
Matthew 19:14 KJV

Careful Footsteps
Things we do have consequence,
However small they be.
When we act with wisdom
A good result we'll see.
But if we move too quickly
We could maybe miss the mark.
The end result might not have worth
Or maybe could be "stark".
Consequence will follow us
In every step we take.
Everything we do each day
Our lives will make or break.
Consequence will bring reward,
If we're wise and think ahead,
Avoiding pitfalls on the way,
Reaping peace and joy instead.
"Great peace have they who love Your law; nothing shall offend them or make them stumble."
Psalm 119:165 Amplified Bible

Veteran's Day
A SPECIAL CLASS
Veterans are a special class
Who give of self and far surpass
Ordinary daily call.
To guard our land they give their all.
Today we pay them high esteem.
May the Lord their lives redeem
From weariness and battle scars.
In our sight they're truly stars!
They have given us their best.
Heroes all, they've stood the test.
Precious are the ones who serve.
Highest honors they deserve.

The Faithfulness Of God
I am so blessed at how God takes care of my needs. A few months ago my electric blanket quit functioning properly - the control was not working right. I didn't have money to buy another one, so I just decided to do without one.
Now that it is fall I missed having it, but because I was asking the Lord to help me with some larger needs I don't think I even prayed about having a new blanket.
This week I received a pretty new electric blanket from my son. Hallelujah! I won't have to get into a cold bed every night. Also, I received a monetary gift which wll cover some of the other larger needs I had been praying about.
I rejoice in the goodness of God! He DOES watch over us. He hears our prayers and sometimes answers before we even ask! He is so faithful!
"But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus."
Philippians 4:9 KJV

Blessed Rest
Having battled times of test
There are times when we must rest.
God's rest is a safe cocoon.
We shouldn't leave that rest too soon.
He is able to restore
All we need and much, much more
We should not fret, fuss or fume
Or try our labors to resume.
Savor these sweet times with joy,
As God His own pace will employ.
When His healing work is o'er
With strong wings again we'll soar.
"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."

Wondrous Healing Power
I call upon Your name for Your wondrous healing power,
For many folks are needy in this day and in this hour.
The promises within Your Word are vibrant, strong and real!
Should we not believe that You are able still to heal?
You are able to restore, refresh and make things new.
Many folks alive today are those whom You've brought through...
Folks who have been near death's door and simply could not cope,
But life itself is in Your hand, and where there's life, there's hope.
Miracles are near to us... we only need believe,
Leaning on Your promises... Your healing to receive.
You are strong and mighty. You're our refuge and strong tower...
The answer in our times of need... our God of love and power.
"Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: who forgiveth all thine iniquites; who healeth all thy diseases, who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's."

Sowing Good Seeds
What we sow is what we reap,
So it is wise good watch to keep
On careless words or attitude
Which sometimes darts or snares include.
Sowing peace and love and joy
Are worthy tools we can employ
To bring forth rich and blessed fruit...
Results which have good attribute.
Good seeds multiply and grow
And scatter more seeds to and fro.
Good seeds sown have bright reward
And bring much glory to the Lord.
"Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be aceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer."

Reason To Rejoice
Lord, let my heart be tuned to You.
Let my heart be pure clear thrugh.
Let no shadow find a place.
Let holiness fill every space.
Cleanse me, Lord, from ev'ry thought
Which has no worth but is for naught.
Help me reach a higher plane,
Greater wisdom to attain.
Let my spirit "rise and fall"
In answer to Your every call.
My heart thrills to hear Your voice.
I have reason to rejoice!
In Jesus' Name, Amen.

One Step At A Time
God will never lead us to take steps when we're not ready.
Lovingly He oversees our "walk" to keep us steady.
In His perfect timing He prepares a goodly course,
One where we will prosper and will never have remorse.
As He leads and guides us we may sometimes have to wait,
But He will not forsake us nor will cause us to be "late".
He will add His wisdom till we're able to step higher
And reach the next objective to which we would aspire.
Skipping over certain steps could cause our plans to fail,
For if we're not prepared, this could make our footsteps "ail".
Always it is best to take just one step at a time,
Relying on God's leading for a sure and steady "climb".
"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."
Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV

The Hidden Place
Sometimes in life, when all is going well and we are settled in our direction or job or circle of friends or church... change happens. And suddenly, by circumstance, we find ourselves in "the hidden place".
We may feel lonely or out of touch, discouraged or lacking purpose. But what may seem like a time of loss may be a time of golden opportunity... the place where growth happens. In prayer we begin to re-evaluate what is really important and seek new direction. And when the slate of our life seems to be most blank, God will begin to write on it.
The hidden place may have been His very purpose so that He could re-set us in a new direction... something exciting which we may have never tried or even thought of before. As we come through it and out into the light on the other side, we will have new perspective and greater depth in the wisdom of God.
The hidden place will be a treasured place of great beauty... one-on-one with God... a birthing place for the purposes of God.
"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."

Love And Peace
Respond in love and let peace rule.
Understanding this will "fuel".
It is wise to never spread
Words which should be left unsaid.
Words of blessing are received,
Causing peace to be achieved.
Humility will open doors
And discord quietly ignores.
Always love will be enough
To overcome whatever "guff".
Love will "neutralize" a dart,
Will soothe and heal a wounded heart.
"Put on love and enfold yourselves with the bond of perfectness - which bonds everything together completely in ideal harmony. And let peace (soul harmony which comes) from Christ rule (act as umpire continually) in your hearts - deciding and settling with finality all questions that arise in your minds - (in that peaceful state) to which (as members of Christ's) one body you were also called (to live)."

Understanding this will "fuel".
It is wise to never spread
Words which should be left unsaid.
Words of blessing are received,
Causing peace to be achieved.
Humility will open doors
And discord quietly ignores.
Always love will be enough
To overcome whatever "guff".
Love will "neutralize" a dart,
Will soothe and heal a wounded heart.

The Heartbeat Of God
Deep in your soul is God's heartbeat heard?
By His great love have you e'er been stirred?
His love is deeper than ocean or sea,
Boundless in scope for you and for me.
If you will listen, the sound will be clear,
Changing your life and drawing you near.
Then when His heartbeat becomes as your own,
No other sound will match what you've known.
His heart is tender toward those who will hear...
To those who listen and give Him their ear.
His awesome love, poured out from His heart,
Will change your whole world and new life impart.
"Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God..."

Hope For Today
Sing and rejoice and be glad!
Don't sit around and be sad.
Moping just isn't much fun.
Delight in what Jesus has done!
He brought us joy and salvation.
Give Him a standing ovation!
We have the answer to doom and despair,
A Friend and a Savior Who really does care.
He is our light and hope for today.
In Him our lives will not be blase'.
Praise Him with singing for what He has done.
Rejoice and give honor to God's Holy Son.
"Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God."
Psalm 42:11 KJV
