As parents grow older and life’s weights are bearing,
It is important to show them some caring.
A parent gives all as her/his child is growing.
A child, in return, respect should be showing.
Honor your parents, their efforts support.
Show them compassion, do not be “short”.
Speak to them kindly, show them you care.
Listen to them closely when wisdom they share.
They may seem old-fashioned, but their common sense
Will help you keep balance in times which are tense.
They have lived longer and have a large store
Of wisdom and knowledge you should not ignore.
“Honor (esteem and value as precious) your father and your mother - this is the first commandment with a promise - that all may be well with you and that you may live long on the earth.”
