Events which happen shape our lives,
And sometimes we will make a fuss.
Things which get us “off our course”
We think may not be a “plus”.
Until experience helps us grow
The gold within us will not shine.
Overcoming obstacles
Our inner beauty will define.
Challenges will “polish” us.
We’ll learn what really does have worth.
Rough edges soften and give way
And to gentleness give birth.
Inner beauty grows o’er time.
It doesn’t happen overnight.
Slowly as we live each day
The gold within us will shine bright.
In retrospect we’ll praise our God
For it is He who brought us through.
He has shown us what is pure
And given us His overview.
