When others have wrong words to say,
Don't let matters go astray.
It's often better just to pray,
For prayer turns ill will away.
Understanding holds its peace
And causes inflamed words to cease.
Quiet wisdom is a plus
And often saves ado and fuss.
"He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, he who rules his (own) spirit than he who takes a city."

Guarding Our Vision
Seek what's lovely, seek what's good.
Guard your vision as you should.
Our eyes need God's clear precision.
Don't let "wrong" things fog your vision.
Turn away from worthless fare
And of God's beauty be aware.
Rethink all you daily see.
Let it full of beauty be.
"One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple."
Psalm 27:4 KJV

Diligence
Diligence is a wonderful thing...
A positive habit to which we should cling.
It gives attention to careful detail,
And when it is practiced, order will prevail.
It follows through on each task it began
And finishes up exactly as planned.
Diligence accomplishes all that it tries.
A diligent man is indeed very wise.
“The hand of the diligent will rule..."
Proverbs 12:24 KJV

Note: This so reminds me of my dad, whose birthday was April 28th (1896 - 1988). Everything about his life was always in order. Our home was always in good repair and freshly painted. Our yard was the best taken care-of on our street. His tools were always in order and well-sharpened. He was truly a diligent man in every way.

Lightheartedness Wins
Lightheartedness will lift a load
And introduce a pleasant mode,
Leaving weightedness behind.
With joy and laughter it's entwined!
It refuses to look down
And just will not allow a frown!
It has made a choice to smile
And has a truly lovely style!
"A merry heart doeth good like a medicine..."

The Word Is As Light
God's Word is a blueprint to keep us on track,
To give us foundation so we do not lack.
It filters our thinking and shows us the way
In which we should walk and how we should pray.
The Word is as light... to pierce through the dark
And guide us in safety through times which are stark.
We are not helpless when armed with the Word.
Our path will be clear... and never be blurred.
"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."
Psalm 119:105 KJV

One Of A Kind
You are special... one of a kind!
Another like you no one can find.
God made you with unique design
So always you will beautifully shine.
You have promise which is bright
And talents which will bring delight.
God filled you with special treasure,
Overflowing with good measure.
"I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well."

A New Song
Each day has a melody...
Its own delightful song to sing.
As we hear its harmony
In the heart its sound will ring.
Let its music fill your soul
And its beauty make you whole.
Sing along. In God rejoice!
To our God lift up your voice!
""Praise the Lord with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings. Sing unto him a new song..."

Peace When Needed
The "threads" of our day sometimes get tangled.
"Plan A" did not work, and our nerves are jangled.
God will restore the order we need
If we'll simply ask Him how to proceed.
Leaning on Him will reduce the stress,
Weariness then will be a lot less.
With God in control, then we can relax
And not feel frustration from those things that "tax".
"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. 'Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."
John 14:27 KJV

Words We Speak
Words will sometimes make a mess.
It may be better to say less.
Before we speak we should give thought,
Using wisdom as we ought!
Words go forth and have impact,
Causing others to react.
If our words are well thought out,
Then what we say will not leave doubt.
Talk much less and listen more.
Before you speak, the facts explore.
Let wisdom be a constant guide.
Let all your words in peace abide.
"He who has knowledge spares his words, and a man of understanding has a cool spirit."

Wondrous Grace
Lord, how we need Your grace each day
To cheer and keep us from dismay.
In You we can reach across
Every challenge without loss.
Your grace always spurs us on
In situations which seem wan.
Thank You for Your wondrous grace,
A precious gift to run our race.
"And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness."

Finding The Best Path
We have paths from which we choose,
But only one way is the best.
As we seek to find that path
In God's leading we can rest.
As we listen to His wisdom
He will build us up within
To be prepared for our best path
And have the tools by which we'll win.
"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."

Take Time To Reflect
Too much to do can have high cost
If time to pray somehow gets lost.
Spending time before the Lord
Gives balance which will bring reward.
In Him we find a measured pace.
He "slows us down" so we don't race.
When we're traveling too fast
Important things we rush right past.
Take time to rest and to reflect
And precious insights to collect.
It may be wise to simplify,
For life can too soon pass us by.
"Surely I will not come into the tabernacle of my house, nor go up into my bed; I will not give sleep to mine eyes, or slumber to mine eyelids until I find out a place for the Lord, an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob."
Psalm 132:3-5 KJV

Wisdom And Understanding
When things just are not going right,
Ask the Lord to help you see
If what is wrong is in your soul
Or what the matter just might be.
There is much which can be learned
Through understanding or through change.
The problems may just dissipate
With wisdom you will earn long-range.
"Wisdom is the principal thing: therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding."

Memorable Times
People used to sit and talk
Or visit as they took a walk,
Sharing joy in simple things...
A butterfly with pretty wings
Or a bird which brightly sings.
The former joys were really best.
Our lives back then were truly blessed.
Now these times may be unseen.
(Preempted by a cell phone screen).
Rich joys in life they may not glean.
“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.”
Psalm 103:2 KJV

A Gentle Touch
The art of gentleness is rare
And practiced well will show you care.
It offsets harshness and deep pain,
Bringing healing as soft rain.
Gentleness brings peace and calm
And truly is a healing balm,
Restoring confidence and joy
As a Heaven-sent, lovely buoy.
"Let each of you esteem and look upon and be concerned for not (merely) his own interests, but also each for the interests of others. Let this same attitude and purpose and (humble) mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus; (Let Him be your example in humility:)"

The Bright Side
To brighten daily, mundane cares
I will focus on the Lord.
He gives fresh perspective.
In Him is gladness and reward.
He helps me see the brighter side
And chart a pathway set for good.
All my days are filled with joy
When I seek Him as I should.
"Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing."

Let Peace Rule
Let God's peace rule in your heart,
Calm and stillness to impart,
In yieldedness with Him agreeing,
Bringing forth a soft well-being.
God's peace brings an inner healing
For unrest you may be feeling.
When you choose to walk in peace
All your fears will find release.
"And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body: and be ye thankful."

God Is Love
God gave His Son for you... He loves you so.
But if you've not hoped in Him, you'll never know.
Our God is love... He desires none be lost.
To not learn to know Him has very high cost.
Eternity waits when life is through here.
We will see Heaven if to God we draw near.
When we know Jesus, from sin we're set free
To be with our God throughout eternity.
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Sowing Seeds In Prayer
Good thoughts and prayers can travel far,
So why not send a few each day
To family, friends and other folks...
Or those who don't know how to pray.
When we pray in Jesus' name
And send some blessings from our heart,
Our prayers become a healing stream
And joy and laughter will impart.
Our prayers may be a bridge of grace
To cover challenges unknown.
The Lord will prompt us how to pray.
His blessings then will be full-blown.
We can be an "instrument"
By spreading blessings to and fro.
By our thoughts and prayers each day
So many blessings we can "sow".
“Always aim to show kindness and seek to do good to one another and to everybody. Be happy (in your faith) and rejoice and be glad-hearted continually (always); be unceasing in prayer (praying perseveringly)."

Wisdom Gathered
Old folks are a source of "gold".
Wise perspective their lives hold.
They have labored, they have toiled
And many "squeaky wheels" have oiled.
They are full of wisdom learned.
Merits and honor they have earned.
They are as a reservoir
Of deep life lessons, truth and more.
"The beauty of old men is their gray head (suggesting wisdom and experience)."
